Sort of thing Les Reed or Semmens would have been crucified for.

Signing for East Cowes Vics instead
-
“Exceptionally smart signing ..,” seems far from that way to me bearing in mind he might not be fit to play for another 5-6 weeks. Hope it proves to live up to the billing Alfie House gives it and we’re not left cursing the weeks we had without a decent recognised striker.
-
Good idea. Can keep Stewart company in the treatment room.
-
Nice run of games in September to go into without your main striker, depending on who else comes in up front. If anyone.
-
Won't find many on here then.
-
In years gone by an injury like that would scupper any likelihood of the signing happening as the buying club wouldn't be able to insure the player. Not sure what has changed, or if clubs now just take the risk.
-
The fact he's got a long term injury goes some way to detracting from his height and pace at the moment.
-
Oh dear … wonder what that (probably) innocently intended comment will unleash …
-
Ditto to the nth factorial
-
… or bringing in replacements
-
Yes. Getting shot of a player who no longer wants to be here, to be replaced by a player who doesn’t really want to be here either.
-
Just hope this isn’t the 2023 version of Gakpo
-
Don’t worry we can sell him back to Genk in January or next summer for half the price if it doesn’t work out.
-
The Million Manhoef rumour certainly stood the test of time …
-
Tell it to kids today, and they won’t believe you.

Can only hope he’s right. Otherwise we can file it with the Sunday evening post from summer 2003 that Rupert Lowe had been spotted driving into Birmingham on the Aston Expressway and therefore we had to be signing an England international striker from Villa. (Name escapes me but he eventually signed for Man City). Internet at its finest.
-
Might be more protracted trying to buy outright than a tie up a loan this late in the window. Would hope for an option to buy at end of season though
-
Yes, definitely a class player and a cut above Delgado I agree. But as I recall he was our record signing at the time, so that doesn't really sit comfortably with the bit I've highlighted in your post. I think we signed him in the December, and I'm not sure if we saw him play that season.
-
From what I’ve read on here, he hasn’t played since January, and might not be available until October. All in all seems a gamble. Has the hallmarks of being up there with the signings of Charlie George and Augustin Delgado. Perhaps it’ll be a return to the David Connolly days, potentially being our best striker bar none if he doesn’t spend time in the treatment room.

Shit in defence though. Always moaning about what's expected of them when it comes to marking.
-
Any likelihood of that ?
