  1. Killing the goose that lays the golden egg springs to mind. The EPL and especially the ‘big clubs’ will eventually realise they’ve ruined the ‘product’ or perhaps they won’t be bothered if the tourists continue to pay to sit in silence taking selfies.
  2. 3.44 - different language, familiar song. (Perhaps even the Germans sing about hating the skates)
  3. He’ll no doubt have interest from the Premier League so an unlikely one to come to us even if we were interested and bidding. But would he suit our more ‘patient’ and methodical build up play though ?
  4. Yes there is, but if we’re looking to sign a player to be Alcaraz’s mate to help him settle, I expect it will be at the ‘Chala/Bleidilis’ level rather than a club record signing !
  5. League Cup SF though …
  6. Plymouth linked with Leighton Baines (???), and two former skates, Cowley , and Cotterill among others. Other managerial news - as widely mooted Cooper sacked at Forest. Wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up a Championship club with potential.
  7. Exactly, it’s a free shot on goal, a gilt edged opportunity. What try reinventing the wheel ? Every time someone tries to do that, and be clever it inevitably results in a balls up to the detriment of the team taking the kick. Remember Arsenal, Henry and one other (was it Pires ?). Two top level players at the top of their game, and they bollocksed one rather than simply taking it.
  8. So neither you nor Alcaraz considered it remotely possible that we could concede twice in about 8 minutes of remaining (injury time)play That could have been costly. Sorry if that seems extreme but Middlesborough at home (Dec 2004) in our relegation season haunts me still (2-0 up on 89 minutes ….). Charly possibly not even born then so will forgive him not having that in his mind ..
  9. Penenka’s and stuttering run ups should be an immediate fine. Amazing how some even experienced players resort to this bollocks. Remember Pelle a few years ago in the Euros.
  10. From the Blackburn supporter it seems there is some history from his Swansea days. No idea about yesterday.
  11. No idea about the criticism of their own players and tactics, but thought his comments re us, Alcares, and RM were fine. Stupid penalty, although otherwise I rate CA and hope he’s learnt. RM does seem to wind up opposition fans, possibly because they like us - wonder- how he’s managed to progress without any real achievement at previous clubs. Could understand the opposition view of Jones who was a prickly individual on the touchline. Can’t say I’ve noticed any antics from RM, but if he comes across as a Billy Big-Bollocks you can see the resentment.
  12. The prospect of greater £, Premiership and European football, and back nearer his London roots. No of course, no chance of him being enticed away. Hope he is prepared to give us the rest of the season and see where we are then.
  13. Exactly the sort of performance we need, being on the front foot and aggressive. Where have I heard that before, and who from ?
  14. Have edited it.
  15. Good idea, as some of his attacking play seems to be done at a similar pace to the statue.
  16. Think he’d be perfect for us, currently out injured
  17. Cortese Dome ? It’s nothing compared to the blueprint for the Rasmus Arena.
  18. Questions: Would the Board make a brave and bold move in getting rid of him, with the hope of seeing some impetus added to our play and season? Answer is “No”. Even if they did, would you have even the slightest confidence of them getting the appointment right ? Again, “no” . Conclusion: he’s with us until the end of the season, so might as well support him.
  19. For me, he’s a pretty average manager with no track record behind him before joining. Unfortunately he is living up to expectation. But I accept that he has been let down by us not signing the striker we’ve needed for two seasons. ‘Style’ of play though is on him.
  20. Singing that at some point of a match in the late 60’s/early 70’s was very much part of the ritual. No match it seemed was complete without it. Same for every club in those days, remember a Reading supporting friend at the time saying how it got going on their terrace on a Saturday at Elm Park.
  21. Really ? Numbers have been quite impressive taking maximum allocations it seems most weeks. The atmosphere though is varied. Hull very good even in the first half, Huddersfield though was very subdued, even when we were on top in the first half.
  22. Probably been the case since the 1980’s.
  23. But will RM look to play more than one up front ?
  24. I for one look forward to seeing ‘Lego Head’ going all ‘noddy’ with his on the pitch post-match celebrations after we win comfortably at The Bernabeu
  25. Did splashing £14m or £18m on the likes of Tall Paul, or Carillo give you more confidence?
