I read that FIFA are on the case. They’re looking at teams having to swap an outfield player as the one that has to stand on the line for 30 seconds if the keeper has treatment. Don’t know how it’ll work, does the opposition choose, or the keepers side. Maybe it could be the nearest player when the keeper goes down. Personally, I’d manage it a different way. I’d double the time added on for the “injury”, so if there’s 3 mins of treatment I’d add 6 mins. Of course you couldn’t do this if there’s a foul, but if they go down for no reason, they’re going to cost their side time….

Seeing news that the actress who played Joan has just died, I can’t believe I left Early Doors of my list. Probably suffered from being Royal familyish (another great series I missed off). It was a brilliant show, but unlike the Royal Family it finished at the right time, and didn’t over stay its welcome.

Is GK the worst position in this clubs history?
Lord Duckhunter replied to SaintsRoyalty's topic in The Saints
We’ve had a couple of superb keepers, Shilton & Neimi the pick of my 50 years plus of supporting, slightly lower level but better than most was Tim Flowers. But I do agree that overall we’re pretty bang average in that department with most falling into the competent category rather than exceptional. Eric Martin, Ian Turner, Peter Wells, Terry Gennoe, Dave Beasant, Paul Jones, Forster, Boruc, were just top flight players imo, nothing exceptional. I’d put AM from a couple of years ago in the competent bag as well. Some didn’t really play enough to make a decent assessment , Richard Wright, Bart, Gaza, and Maik Taylor. Some were good but slightly over the hill, so don’t really make it out of the competent bag Bruce & Budgie (although I was out of the country for most of his games, so only saw some highlights). Then you’ve got Kelvin, decent out of the premier league, but not top level. Of course there’s Baz, who is in a category of his own. -
“Did well” seems to have a different meaning when it comes to Baz. He saved everything he should have done, didn’t save one which would have been an exceptional save (it would be nice for him to make one of these once in a while, or even just once). So “did well” on the Baz scale, is doing his fucking job (for once).

It’s been a shit show from start to finish. Arrogance personified. They need a clear out starting with Key & Brendon McCullum. Stokes is clearly too talented to be ditched, and there’s nobody else capable of the captaincy, but the whole thing needs re thinking. We should start preparation and planning for the next series in Australia now, that should be our focus, red ball cricket. We’ll be competitive at home, but that pointless if we shit the bed down under.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Lord Duckhunter replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
It’s an absolute fact that Reeves & Starmer have increased costs for landlords, and the ones that don’t sell up prior to these changes, will pass the increases on to their tenants. Pretending otherwise isn’t being “impartial”, it’s wilfully ignoring reality because it isn’t the nasty Tories making renters finances worse….. -
I heard an interesting interview with a veteran of bbc news dept who pretty much summed up how BBC news isnt impartial anymore. He said the politician who most suffered from the BBC bias was Corbyn , so before the “usual suspects” jump on him, (like they do when Andrew Neil criticised the beloved BBC or Starmer), he’s not some rabid “far right” bigot. He said journalists have the 5W’s taught to them early on in their careers. Who, what, when, where, & why. But until the 1980’s the BBC drummed into every journo, over and over, the “why” did not apply to them. The “why” was for other news organisations which didn’t have impartiality constraints, or current affairs people. He said during the 80’s, the whole agenda changed. The BBC then started thinking that explaining the “why” was actually part of their public service remit, they started to think educating the masses on the “why” was the role of a public service broadcaster, and this view is still held today. He concluded, once you attempt to explain the “why”, impartiality is impossible as unlike who, what, where & when, which are factual, it is an opinion subject to different interpretations ……

There’s absolutely zero wit anymore. “Live in a shit hole” is another one, at least we didn’t resort to “small town in Birmingham”. Coming out the ground, the Coventry lot even managed to out nod our lot, with a chant of “your mum is a Portsmouth fan”.

Don’t talk soft. He’s totally ruined himself. Shit player, with a shit attitude. It’s on him, not the club.

The Starmer Years - Can The New Broom Sweep Clean?
Lord Duckhunter replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
It’s not disingenuous at all. If 500k young English people leave for abroad, and these people are replaced by 500k foreign men of fighting age, who speak poor English and don’t embrace western values , that’s not a good thing, despite the fact it’s a zero sum in respect of net migration. The economy is he adding one way, with unemployment only going to get worse. What’s disingenuous is people pretend it isn’t and cherry picking “facts” because it’s not the Tories. There’s a reason labour are tanking in the polls, and Starmer is so unpopular, and it’s not because they’re doing such a great job with the economy -
Ahh bless

😂😂 Net migration, if more people fuck off because of the state of the country, that’s not a good thing. 😂😂fucking tories borrowing all that money during Covid. How’s the unemployment rate going? -
If enough people want to watch it, they’ll pay for it, Why should the rest of us pony up for a load of old pony we don’t want to watch.
-
Stuck in the past again. Get into the modern world man..
-
That’s fucking over payment. My lad gets £60 a game in the Wessex league and they’d beat most chick teams. The standard involved, they’re lucky they’re not charged subs…

In real terms, the state pension should be worth the same the day you die as the day you retire. In other words should increase with inflation only, a single lock. If that means an increase of .55p, so be it. I don’t blame pensioners for wanting to protect the triple lock though, and it’s not just selfishness. Gordon Brown well and truly fucked private sector pensions, and even now the Government attack the same private pensions with this salary sacrifice stuff. The ridiculous thing is it’s not today’s pensioners and “gammon” over 50 at the moment who’ll suffer, it’s the next generation and the generation after that. Our generation had a few years with defined benefit pensions, and got decent tax breaks for bunging a few extra quid in. Politicians left pensions alone to give stability and assurance, now they create uncertainty and doubt and look at them as ripe for picking. God knows what age today’s 40year olds will be working to and god knows how they’ll afford a decent retirement. -
Change 😂😂😂. What change are you proposing, paying 4 weekly instead of monthly. I’m betting any change you want, involves compulsory payment, and people still facing the prospect of prison if they don’t pony up. You can bet your life it won’t involve the option of not watching/not paying…

The only thing stuck in the 70’s related to the bbc is the way it’s funded.
-
No, it’s because most of their shows appeal to tits like you.

Baz tried it, but didn’t get much success, the chicks kept slipping through his hands. AM is fine as a number 2 at this level, I’m not quite sure we’d get any better . He’s experienced, and highly professional, exactly what you need. It’s a unique role, you have to prepare for every game as if you’re going to play, whilst the reality is you’ll get on as a substitute once every 40 odd games. My Son in law was a pro keeper , now coaching at a league one academy , he reckons AM is on 76k a week (he knows someone close to him from palace days).wonder what Baz is on.

😂 Classic, imagine if trump postponed the next election for 2 years, you’d be beside yourself . Certainly wouldn’t be relaxed about “changing the date”. You’re so funny, thanks for being you… -

🤡Farage said it was a “con," "pathetic," and "doomed to fail". So they played to his supporters by……. disagreeing with him. Looks like you & Nige are on the same page on this one…. -

Killing innocent people on a beach the other side of the world isn’t a “retribution attack”, anyone who thinks it is needs to give their head a wobble. Fuck me, could you imagine it if some white lads shot up Muslim’s every time there was an attack by the usual suspects, the apologists wouldn’t be saying “well if other Muslims hadn’t murdered kiddies at a pop concert, if only they hadn’t bombed the underground, or attacked people at London Bridge, if only they hadn’t killed Jews on Bondi beach, this “retribution “ wouldn’t have happened”. I don’t know what’s worse, Muslims celebrating this barbaric evil event by letting off fireworks, or people trying to justify it and blame other Jews…. -

If only Salman Rushdie hadn’t invaded the West Bank he would have had been ok. Imagine if Monty Python had made “The life of Mo”. They’d have been under threat, the staff and the cinemas which showed it would be under threat, and most probably anyone who went to watch it. No other religion acts like that in the modern era. If Israel disappeared tomorrow, do people think these medieval bigots would just give up killing, would go back to normal lives or be involved in politics like an Arabian Martin Mcguiness . Of course not, they’d killing our chicks for wearing short skirts, killing comedians for taking the piss or artists for daring to draw their leader, and they’d be murdering Jews for being Jewish, Of course their useful idiots in the west will still be defending them . -

Spot on. There’s far too many Muslims willing to kill non believers and far too many willing to condone & even celebrate these killings. As you’ve said it’s medieval barbarism which has no justification.
