  1. You know exactly the posts I’m on about, you were called out by many posters, and I’ve no intention of re posting your horrendous racism.
  2. Some of us remember you doing the same.
  3. I’m glad I lived through a period when Wigan could win the FA cup & Leicester could win the league.
  4. What a load of old pony. Nobody wants him to fail and the only people who seem to have the need to be right are the ones making excuses for him. It’s laughable. He’s not good enough at the moment, that’s not written with any satisfaction or pleasure, I wish it wasn’t true. But we’re bottom of the league and we need him to perform in the here and now, not some future date when he maybe good or even great. He’s sub standard, probably the worst keeper in the league and in our position we need more than that.
  5. I maybe old fashioned but I want someone in nets that saves shots, not beats the fucking chaser
  6. So aintclever was wrong then? The situation isn’t as it was pre Brexit?
  7. So there’s Freedom of movement for EU citizens with regard to NI then?
  8. You don’t see Adam Armstrong or Che doing too many knee slides
  9. You’re more tolerant than me.
  10. If we had a decent keeper and not scored it would have been 0-0.
  11. You must of missed the bit where he passed straight to one of them. 9 times out of 10 he costs us yesterday, he was extremely lucky they couldn’t finish 2 pretty easy chances he handed them. . We won despite him, he is pony and we’ll be having this conversation again after another game unless he’s dropped.
  12. What isn’t rational is taking 3 results (whilst continently ignoring defeat to a Div 4 team) and using that as evidence we’d comfortable be safe had Selles been manager earlier. It’s way way too small a sample and way way too early to make that call.
  13. Let’s wait until the end of the season before passing judgement. If he has a Tadic like run in, and is instrumental in us staying up, then he’ll absolutely deserve an extension.
  14. What a ridiculous take on it. Had we appointed him in the summer instead of sticking with Ralph , with his success rate of 2 in 3, we’d now be fighting 6th place out with Liverpool. See how ridiculous your reflection is. You can’t take 3 games as a sample size.
  15. This article pretty much sums it up. FOOTBALL is a simple game, complicated by idiots. Bill Shankly wasn’t impressed with the evolution of the game in the sixties, goodness knows what the legendary Liverpool gaffer would have made of the 21st century version. It’s hard to imagine Shanks with the big beard and sleeve tattoos, sitting sipping a skinny latte and talking about Jurgen Klopp’s side’s xG stats. Yeah, I said it. That’s xG stats. It means Expected Goals. Still no clearer? Well hang on, this is going to be a bumpy ride. It turns out football is not simple any more, far from it. A lot of us have done our best to resist the dark ways of modern football but maybe it’s time to step out from the shadows. There’s a whole world out there most of us dinosaurs don’t know about. This dismantling of the game is happening in the shady recesses of the internet, the domain of the football hipsters. But, much to the beardy boys’ disgust, the stuff they talk about is creeping into the mainstream. Nerdy football was cool but with more folk looking at this kind of analysis it’s probably not cool any more. The hipsters will need to move on to something else but a lot of us still need to catch up with the trendies. There’s no choice, by the way. We can resist all we like but when top bosses start talking in riddles then you can either get with the programme or get involved with carpet bowls. He spoke about how he was happy playing 6, 8 or 10. There were some puzzled looks in the press pack. Six? That was left half back in the day. Not now. Strap yourselves in here for a quick zip around the modern game. The six or eight positions can now be the deep lying midfielder. It used to be the holding role but not any more. It can be the Destroyer – the spoiler breaking up the play and giving it to a more talented guy. But it can be the Regista – a playmaker who dictates the flow of the game from deep. Then there is the Volante – a combination of the two, an athlete who can read the game, make interceptions and then pick out the passes that will break the defensive lines. You’re slipping away here, aren’t you? Further up at 10 is the Trequartista. The playmaker, the second, deep striker, the man who unlocks defences. A false nine? Don’t be so 2011. It’s the shadow striker now, the role Lionel Messi made famous. The striker, who’s not a striker, who comes deep and confuses the heck out of defenders. There’s also a false 10 these days but you need a degree in astrophysics to explain it. Then the Raumdeuter. It’s German for ‘space investigator’, a wide player who comes inside to look for spaces, often to the middle, or zone 14, which is a coaching box in front of the penalty area. He’s not to be confused with the inverted winger who cuts in Arjen Robben style, or the inverted full-back, or wing-back. There’s even a Forward Destroyer but that’s for the advanced class, along with the stats blitz, the high press and low block, and the transitions. Confused? You should be.
  16. We were pretty lucky that Iheanacho did his best Che Adams impression and our keeper wasn’t punished for 2 horrendous errors. That said, we’ve suffered similarly recently, so it’s about time we were on the receiving end of oppositions poor play. Never looked the same after the goal scorer went off, and the substitutes really struggled to impose themselves. Good sign that we didn’t fold after the penalty miss and still kept pushing forward. The two full backs were better, and the centre halves did ok. Walcott gave us a bit more balance imo, and Adams did ok. Sulemana turned in another frustrating performance, just when you think he’s going to really set the place alight he disappears after a promising start. We really need to get him into promising positions in the final third and for him to produce some end product if we’re going to stay up. I thought Lavia was slightly below his par, and the keeper was obviously pony again. All in all, a great result, but we’ll play better and lose. It’s just a shame we didn’t turn up at Leeds as we’d be building some momentum now.
  17. What a load of old pony. There’s no hatred of him and Bednarek looked a premier league centre half yesterday. Baz did not look a premier league keeper. Whilst Bednarek contributed to our win, it was no thanks to Baz.
  18. So you agree that the only reason we kept a clean sheet was because Baz didn’t have to make a save. Finally, you get it. Unfortunately most games he needs to, which is why we haven’t won many.
  19. He didn’t make one save yesterday, hence the clean sheet.
  20. This hits the nail on the head. From an Irish paper, no sign of “Baz wins points for Saints by brilliantly putting off player”. There should be no debate.
  21. Which shots did he save that any other professional goal keeper from any league would not have saved?
  22. There shouldn’t be a debate. He tried to pass to one of our players and fucked it up and then he misjudged the flight of the ball. That’s it, two errors. Why are people trying to claim they weren’t? They weren’t one or two offs either, he’s made error after error all season and has cost us points. He’ll cost us more if he keeps playing, without the benefit of great saves in between as he doesn’t make anything other than routine saves.
  23. Perhaps this “putting off” goalkeeper style explains his awful positioning as well, he’s hoping the striker taking the shot is put off by his poor positioning. Maybe he’s actually ahead of his time and us dinosaurs can’t see it. In years to come the Baz putting off style will replace actually making saves, catching crosses and passing to our own players, standard goalkeeping skills will be a thing of the past.
  24. Horrendous again yesterday, he’s actually getting worse which takes some doing. I was told by someone close to Jones that he didn’t rate him, but was prepared to work to improve him. This suggests to me that he’s got the right attitude & is professional (you would just bin someone incapable of developing), that has to be the only explanation for his inclusion because it can’t be performance related.
  25. It was their poor finishing that won us the points yesterday, fuck all to do with our keeper. The superman impression at the end just summed him up, it was probably the worst goalkeeping display I’ve ever seen for a clean sheet. He’s going to cost us again if we don’t bin him now.
