  1. Some of them are ok, including my boss and one of my best mates, but most of them are complete planks. As a group, they are the biggest bunch of idiots in football, from dancing on the pitch when they lost to WBA, to the love/hate of Harry, and chanting Storrie-Tellers name. They've now become a serious embaressment to the Premier league in terms of finance and support and the sooner their relegated the better. If they folded I would feel sorry for the decent ones amongst them, but not for some of the planks(95% of them). I recall going to QPR with my QPR supporting cousin and his mates for a Saints game. There was a load of his mates and me in a pub in Ealing the night before and one of his mates had brought a friend along. Turned out he was a Skate, instead of a bit of banter, he took a swing at me(before i'd even spoken to him) and all hell let loose. I don't think there is another team that have support that is filled with so much hatred (baring Celtic and Rangers) as they are. For that plank back in 1993 (or there abouts) I hope they end up in the Wessex League.
  2. Best Watford at Villa Park Last game at Dell, what an ending. Sheff Utd at SMS Crouchys Peno-Did a Dads dance down the steps and embaressed my 15 year old son. Forset away last season-The support that day, convinced me we'd still have a Club and a spirit no matter what happens. Worst- Tranmere in the Cup Skates 4-1 away, we were lucky it wasn't 6 or 7. Blackpool 0-1 last season, outplayed by a poor side, knew then that Lowe's madness was going to lead us down.
  3. Granty, you dirty old man!
  4. I think Clubs will be in for Pardew as well, but hopefully he's here for the long haul.
  5. PMQ's are structured in such a way as to give the PM a massive advantage. He always has the last word and is not pressed to answer any questions. He just throws sound bites and a line of attacked worked out hours in advance. When Brown has been surprised or unprepared, he has come across very poorly. An example of the lack of balance was at PMQ's recently when Brown said Spain was a member of the G8, when it is not. DC had ran out of questions, so couldn't press him on it, but someone like Paxman would have ripped him apart. If the debates are structured in a way that means they have to think on their feet and the Chairman presses them for answers and picks up on any lies/spin/ mistake, Brown will take a hammering IMO.
  6. Throughout the history of the charts there have been manufactured pop acts that have released cover versions. Back to the days when Pat Boone released sanitized versions of Little Richard tunes, through the 60's, 70's and 80's. This pap has existed alongside, and even out sold some of the greatest music of the past 50 years. I can't stand X factor or the hype that goes with it and would rather listen to Westwood's bell than the latest Simon Cowell promoted pop sensation. However my daughter loves it, who am I to tell her what she can like, what she can buy/download? The charts are meaningless nowadays, so can't see why people are getting their knickers in a twist over this. The classic songs are still there for the kids to listen to (obviously, this isn't a classic cover), it takes the form of adverts or cover versions. If this leads them back to the originals, then surely it's a good thing?
  7. Thanks, that's it. Just googled it and the actor is Sam Waterson. It was a pretty good show.
  8. 1. NYPD Blue 2.Curb your Enthusiasm 3.Frasier Can anyone remember the name of a series about 15 years ago, set in the deep South. Which dealt with the racial issues of the late 50's/60's. It was pretty good, had the bloke from Law and Order in it. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.
  9. Goldie Horn was stunning in her 40's. That bird from sex in the city (i think she's over 40). Not the one from Porkys, Sarah Jessica Parker, or the ginger lesbo, but the other one. Not sure what her name is, but she's pretty fit.Long black hair, and was married to a baldy in the show.
  10. What about this band Eric Clapton George Harrison Ringo Jim Keltner Billy Preston And the great Leon Russell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-RiahNtyqw&feature=related What a band. You tube has to be the greatest website. (after TSF)
  11. The Beatles The Band The Rolling Stones Slade The Who CCR Cream Steely Dan
  12. Got to hand it to the Skates, their great at clutching straws. http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A60539411
  13. A friend of mine works for a press agency. They have people calling them all the time with alledged wrong doings by famous people and in particular footballers at nightclubs. During JB's last 2 years at Saints they had more calls about him and a certain hobby of his, than any other footballer at that time.It is not a Southampton based agency, and yet they had call after call about him.
  14. That's great news, I can't remember this happening since Chris Iwelumo. Get Mr Byfield on the O/S.
  15. I've found the above makes a little bit of differance, as does using better head phones rather than the ones provided. You can also change the equalizer preset to acoustic, which seems to make it a touch louder. There are programmes that claim to remove the volume limit, but they will invalidate your warrenty. I didn't think it was worth the risk.
  16. I've finally joined the digital age, with the Mrs. buying me an iPod for Birthday. First download, and can't stop playing Leon Russell's Retrospective. The most underrated man in Rock music, pure genius.
  17. Agreed, Andy Sipowicz's is TV's best detective, bar none.
  18. Why? They broke FA rules for paying agents, so got 10 points, nothing to do with the FL. They got 15 for no CVA, a ruling that all FL Clubs had a vote on when it was applied to Leed.s They also received a further 5 points for being in admin 3 times. There has to be some penalty for constantly entering admin. The Clubs had a chance to throw out the extra points for CVA and voted FOR that measure. There is no doubt had previous rules been in place more Clubs would have taken the admin route in the present climate. The fact that in these troubled times, Clubs are not, shows the rules are working.
  19. There seems to be movement towards Clubs being run on a sound financial footing. In recent weeks both Southend and Accrington have avoided going into admin by paying the tax they owe. Boscombe are also desperately seeking a way of paying their outstanding amount as well. This has in the main been driven by Mahwinney and his measures for punishing Clubs that do. Measures that were voted for by the Clubs and have been applied consistently since being introduced. The 10 points being suspended until the following season was a direct result of Leeds going into admin following relegation and therefore swerving any deductions. This was also put to a vote and vote through by the Clubs. Bates' dodgy dealings in buying back the Club meant a CVA could not be obtained and another 15 points was added, Leeds appeal was held by all the other Clubs and again they voted with Mahwinney. The reason our 10 points applied this season was down to Lowe, Wilde, Jan and Wotte and not Mahwinney. He has also made Clubs publish agents fees, another good move, in my opinion. Luton would have been given the same points deduction Boscombe were, 10 for admin,15 for not having a CVA and 2 more for being in admin twice before. The FA topped it up (due to financial dealings) to the figure which guan teed relegation, not Mahwinney. It's very easy to sit back and complain about Mahwinney, but on the whole he's done more good than harm. I prefer his approach the making the Clubs sort their finances out than the Premier League's. Witness their head in the sand approach to Poorsmouth's latest circus, where they seem to be bending over backwards to ensure one of their members stay out of admin. The question of ownership is always going to be hard to police in this day and age, you can not just bar someone for not liking the "cut of their jib". You have to have proof before you start banning people from the game, but again would rather he was looking into it, than the Premier League. Overall the FL has become stronger and more financially sound under his leadership. The way he delivers the message, should not take away the fact that the message was, on the whole,a good one.
  20. That'll come after their relegated, when the Sky money runs out.
  21. I want them to go down in the most heart breaking fashion ever. Like Sheff Utd in 94 ( I think it was, when a late goal at Chelsea relegated them) or like Man C, when they thought they were safe and were playing for time. I want them to stage a recovery, winning 5 in a row to go 2 points clear of the drop zone, going into the last game. They're then robbed by a terrible refereeing decision in the last min, as a peno is awarded unjustly against them. They charge up the other end looking for an equalizer, but have a perfectly good goal disallowed for off side. Meanwhile West Ham score a dodgey off side goal in the last minute of their game, comdemning Poorsmouth to relegation. How funny would it be watching MoTD that night, all the pundits saying how unlucky they were, and what terrible decisions went against them, and there's nothing they can do about it.
  22. As pro EU, do you think it's right that the Irish were told to vote and vote again, until they gave the right response?
  23. The European project in a nutshell. Deny the "Peasants" a vote, because they'll vote the wrong way. Even when they are given a vote, as the Dutch, French and Irish found out they'll find a way to rail road their plans through anyway.
  24. If that's your view fine. However we were never consulted on it. The Irish were and voted against, only to be told to vote again. That is how the EU works. The French & Dutch voted against the constituation, so they amended it slightly and denied them a second vote. The Irish voted against it, so they were told to vote again. Why is it the Pro Europeans are always against referendums, if they're convinved they're right, then put it to the people. They wont because they know they'll lose, so they edge ever closer to federal Europe by stealth.
  25. There was a referendum in Scotland and Wales over devolution. There was a referendum over the Belfast agreement, and Northern England assembly in Nov 2004. Labour also promised us one over the pound as well. Therefore they can not be against the prinicple of a referendum. They just seem to be against this one, because they know they'll lose. Whatever the rights and wrongs in this Country, the fact is there was one in Ireland. The fact that the EU refused to let the result stand, tells you all you need to know about that body (as does the fact that their accounts have not being signed off, for god knows how many years) If you think our MP's expenses were horrific, wait until details of MEP's are leaked.
