Although a very decent man I think what he went through has made many fans forget the situation we were in at the time of his departure - when he was put on "gardening leave" many Saints fans were calling for his head following some poor performances, topped off by a complete collapse up at Newcastle. I don't think he was doing a particularly great job at the time of his departure and like it or not, Hoddle came in and improved performances significantly.

The last decent corner taker we had was Le Tiss and since leaving The Dell our corners have been awful. Under successive managers since the move to SMS our corners haven't improved one bit - I doubt we have averaged more than 1 or 2 goals a season from them. The last thumping headed goal I remember from a corner was against Wolves a few years back by Alex Pearce when he was on loan from Reading.

I still think it is too early to judge him Hypo and competition is healthy - if and when he gets a chance it should make him more determined to take it. For what it is worth I thought he had a great first half when I saw him against against Plymouth and out in some dangerous crosses. Quite a few people wrote Guly off after about 12 minutes of football in 2 games so you never can tell which way it will go for Dickson. I would imagine Joseph Mills has more to worry about.
