  1. We need to massively hike MP salaries. Something like £200k p.a. and a generous package for MPs who lose their seat would be reasonable. Need to make it an aspirational job for normal but talented people. We still have too many privileged establishment types and rampant weirdos involved.
  2. Says the guy who cited The Canary!
  3. Agree entirely with this.
  4. Paul Hart and Arigo Sacchi dream team.
  5. I just had a soft breakfast.
  6. Interesting that May has the highest priority of the vote for a Tory leader since Thatcher in 83. She's got a higher percentage than Cameron did when he got his majority last tine round. There's a hell of a lot going on in this election!
  7. The idea that UKIP have not managed to significantly influence British politics is somewhat wide of the mark!
  8. Also, Lib Dems have expressly ruled out a coalition with Tories or Labour. I think we will rumble on with a Tory / DUP government for a bit, until May gets knifed. Goodness knows what after that. First priority should be to seek an extension of the Article 50 two year countdown and park Brexit for a year or two!
  9. You are correct. Corbyn is talking ********.
  10. Has Corbyn lost the plot? 'He later told the BBC it was it was "pretty clear who has won this election". "We are ready to serve the people who have put their trust in us,"' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election-2017-40208731
  11. May rumoured to be in no mood to quit.
  12. PM Boris?
  13. People referencing The Canary under the auspices of semi-serious political debate ****ing hell.
  14. No, it's her dad. Remember, the Wehrmacht Oberleutnant?
  15. I suppose the subtlety is whether she refuses because of the risk of being found to lie or does she refuse because she thinks it is wrong to lie? - "I am worried about telling untruths", would do the trick. - "I am worried about telling untruths which are easily disproved", does, perhaps, beg some further questions. Personally, I would give her the benefit of the doubt and say "fair play" on this one.
  16. Have you ever had issues withdrawing from Coinbase?
  17. Yes, that too.
  18. I'm not sure that's entirely fair. Ethereum is being evaluated and tested as a platform by a lot of major institutions and there's little doubt that blockchain technology will be deployed at increasing pace in coming years. Ponzi schemes typically promise guaranteed returns over a certain period - there is no promise of guaranteed returns here and the ability to realise a profit is contingent on there being someone willing to buy the Ethers. As with anything, increased demand generally drives up prices. If people are investing in these things expecting a guaranteed return then they are stupid. It's more of a calculated gamble, which is why the old adage that you shouldn't risk more than you are able to lose holds true. I think it's probably worth a smallish punt, as there is definitely future in this technology. The main thing that concerns me off is the lack of trustworthy exchanges. The OP mentioned Coinbase but online reviews suggest people are experiencing a lot of problems with it.
  19. I think the point is that it's very hard to prove that conversations had between intermediaries have been officially sanctioned or endorsed by a club. If an agent known to Liverpool happens to have a conversation with Van Dijk's agent and they happen to discuss what he may or may not be interested in then it's very hard to draw a clear line back to the management of Liverpool and say "that's tapping up". It's quite another thing, however, to arrange a meeting between a player under contract and another team's manager.
  20. Interesting, thanks. With something like Ether, it's nature is probably even more ambiguous than Bitcoin. It's not a currency in the sense that it has very limited buying power (ie. it's essentially a piece of work on a particular digital platform). It's more akin to an equity investment than a currency speculation, albeit probably subject to pretty high potential volatility. I have been thinking about ways to deploy a relatively small amount of cash that is sitting idly in a bank account so I will give this some further thought.
  21. What are the capital gains implications?
  22. Didn't Klopp give an interview pretty much the minute the season had ended in which he said "we've spoken with all our targets", or words to that effect?
