Simple, they just need to refer to the fabled "Term Sheet" (which has been signed, you know) and the much vaunted "Agreement in principle" and see what was said about the car park. What a load of ********!

I don't think anyone doubted his touch or skill on the ball, they doubted his ability to be an effective football player in a high-level professional team. Luckily, if he can keep up last night's efforts it looks like he can. There's no need for people who have rightly voiced criticisms in the past to bow down with contrition. That said, we needed to remember last season that the young'uns were being run by a bunch of muppets.

I think those that have slagged him off in the past for positional ill-discipline have been spot on. Last night he fixed it!

Excellent last night. I've slagged him off in the past, so I think he now deserves a "credit thread". I doubt anyone on the pitch covered more ground. Helped Harding out at every turn. Worked the ball well. A couple of good shots. Tireless runs into space. Once he and Lambert get to know each other a bit better they could link up really well. I would still like to see him pick the ball up in the central hole more often but that's not easy for him when he's playing on the wing. Well done lad, great game, keep it up.

Saints will be in mid-table obscurity in the Premiership in 5 years barring an unforeseen disaster or some sort of rule change and League realignment. Pompey, probably won't. So the question therefore becomes: 40 years of superiority including a Cup win, other Wmebley finals, European football and a great infrastructure followed by a 5-10 year blip OR To quote a rather profligate mutual ex-manager, "40 years of dross" followed by a Cup win and long-term ruin? Hmm... let me think

"la, la, la la, la ehon,ehon,ehon.... Frederic Piquionne!!"

Love the song, do you think it will catch on at Fratton...? "Frederic Piquionne!"

I don't know a lot about Lambert but I get the impression he's a David Hurst/Mark Viduka sort of classy and strong but not particularly fast type? Is that fair? If that's true then I think that neither Saga or Rasiak have the pace to form a lasting partnership with him (although I suspect this League really is rather terrible and that any of the four will score a hatful if the rest of the team is right). I think Paterson is the natural partner of the three but as others have said, Saga and Rasiak will not want to play second fiddle. For those reasons I would try to shift the two Poles and sign another striker with pace, and possibly one more as cover. I've suggested Nathan Tyson of Forest before and I still think he'd be a good signing, especially coming off the bench; he's very quick indeed.

 "That's why I will not sign a new contract. It's one more season for me and then I'm off." That's one of the best quotes ever (even though I suspect the first six words of that final sentence are not true.)

@ Crouchie's Lawyer.

Only if the club progresses up the Leagues. As for the AO issues - only relevant to a small band of obsessives who get too involved in these things for their own good. Did he call you an arsehole on the phone or something?

FFS. You lot are so ****ing negative. Who's to say we aren't going to sign him then loan him to a Championship or Prem side until we get promoted then take him back? Eh? FFS.

Yes, quite. The BBC's online service looks like it will be excellent. The only value in SaintsTV for me would be the audio commentary as I will be living outside the Solent area. Not sure if it's worth £40 or not....?

There's a YMCA tribute act?

TBF, look what you poor sods had witnessed for the previous 50 years. **** me, you would've been impressed with Lee Todd.

Finally signed a left-back, which we've needed to for about three years. Also signed an experienced right back and it seems, on the brink of signing a centre back who played 30 games at a higher level last season. Striker situation is a bit dodgy as we're in limbo a bit due to uncertainty surrounding Rasiak and Saganowski. I think the club is adopting a sensible strategy to supplement the squad over the season and has realised there's no need to panic. Also, we've only just got round to finalising our backroom staff. This was due to a delay caused by a protracted period in administration. Administration can be a right pain! I think they've taken the view that employing cavalier managers and offering ridiculous contracts to expensive signings, without the income to support it, is a stupid plan, no matter how rich your owner. I think they've noticed one or two instances of clubs absolutely shafting themselves and endangering their very existence by adopting that latter sort of approach.

You should be able to park for free on a street somewhere I would've thought? I've done that in Richmond in the past within walking distance of the station. Times may have changed though.

So the due diligence is done. The terms are all agreed. The Premier League are happy. Now, where did I leave all that money...?
-
I love the way they keep banging on about the Term Sheet. A term sheet being of course a non-legally binding outline. An agreement to agree, if you will. Similar to the "agreement in principle" they were banging on about a while ago. Now the blogger says its all over.... But what's this statement? Hmm... very odd. Anyway, whatever

Apparently he's becoming a Brighton fan.

I take Luker's point about the local unis not being a particular verile customer-loin but it would be nice to offer a student price purely for in order to benefit those students who have always supported Saints but study away from Soton; if they come during term-time the travel cost and match ticket is extremely significant on a student income.

I am in favour of flares and firecrackers though.
