They are one of the highest wage payers I think. The simple fact is that small clubs (Hull, Pompey, Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton, Fulham, Birmingham City, Burnley etc) can't afford to be in the Premier League unless a rich person is willing to subsidise them. Hopefully there will be a natural correction and within the next few years those clubs will be replaced by Forest, Derby, Wednesday, Saints etc...

Happy New Year to you too.

Lens call for potless Pompey to be shut down
benjii replied to hottubsaint's topic in General Sports
Why do you say that? That test is designed to stop criminals or people with a history of involvement with insolvent football clubs from taking ownership, either legal or beneficial. The Premier League/FA, whoever, can't seriously be expected to approve each potential investor in a football club based on some perception of whether they might be any good or not. Ridiculous. -
At the risk of sounding pious and unpragmatic, I would be gutted if that budgie thug played for us.

There's no point saying the authorities should have stopped Al-Fahim or Faraj getting involved - why and how? The damage was done by Storrie and Gaydamak and should have been prevented by regulations governing expenditure. -
Absolutely! The new lot are clearly useless but that misses the point... The damage was done under Gaydamak, Storrie and Redknapp. After trying to shift the club for months and months the only people interested were the new lot; no one else was interested in rescuing them and Gaydamak made it pretty clear he had pulled the plug.

If anyone fancies posting Johnny Bognor's excellent video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37QvlqvZn6E) on here: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&ref=search&gid=255316356132 Then I imagine the skates would love to see it.

For Christ's sake PES, give it a rest. Pompey to most Saints fans are a mild inconvenience. An annoying little brother, possibly with a retardation. However for a lot of Pompey fans, Saints are the be-all- and-end-all. A constant ***** in the bubble of self-respect; a stone in the shoe of progress. The bitterness rose and rose; it became venomous. We found it funny. It is funny. If someone walks round West Quay in a Pompey shirt they might get a few looks but no knuckle-dragger is likely to have a pop. If someone wears a Saints shirt in Skatesmouth, they will get a constant barrage of "scummer", often from pre-pubescent little ****es, smirked on by their obese greasey state-sponging ****wit of a mother. Will Saints miss that? Moot point as it will continue whatever happens to Pompey due to the brutish and inward mentality of the island neighbours. However, if you think the pleasure of playing Pompey a few times every generation outweighs the happiness of seeing those ****s squirm in their own inadequacy then it's you who misses the point.

If there was a rule it would be enforced. Why on earth would there be a rule that bites upon the third late payment of staff? Completely arbitrary. If there is one then apologies but I doubt it very much.
-
Which fecking rule!?!?!
-
Gomes is younger and playing superbly and they also have Cudicini so I don't see why they would want James anyway.
-
Why are people bleating on about the PL's rules? Can you please specify which rule has been broken. Thanks.
-
There's no difference between option C and option D. What the feck is C supposed to mean - that there will be no football clubs in Portsmouth?
-
Fair play to them, they seem almost normal!
-
Please do, and then link on here. Ta.

Brilliant! "Vince ****ing Hillaire" lols.

There's a guy on there who reckons things can't be too bad because the price of a replica kit has come down.

It might literally be a wind-up petition.
-
This 'ere petition (which was not served on me but which I want to be withdrawn ) is an ex-petition.

Pompey issued with winding up petition...
benjii replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in General Sports
Er, can anyone decipher this paragraph: "Portsmouth Football Club has not been formally served with a winding up petition and is shocked and surprised this action has been taken in respect of VAT, PAYE and National Insurance Contributions which either have been, or are about to be paid, or are disputed." So they haven't but they have? -
Again! "SERIOUSLY - WHO HAS THE PHONE NUMBER OF JOHN WESTWOOD OR KNOWS HIM? WE NEED ACTION TONIGHT. IT MAY WELL BE OUR LAST EVER MATCH. WE NEED ANSWERS AND HE CAN ORGANISE IT."
-
"Anyone have Westwood's number? Get him to organise a pitch invasion. We need his support if it is to happen." PMSL.
