It's a no-brainer for Reading. The lad's probably on about £750 a week. By ensuring they retain him under contract they can probably expect to get about £200-300k if someone buys him. If it went to the compensation tribunal they would probably get about 20-30% of that given that he has only been there for one year and hasn't played higher than League One. So for a manaegeable expenditure of around £40-50k over a season, which as people have said can be largely recouped through a loan deal easily, they have given themselves the prospect of making an extra £200k or so on any transfer.

The power base is not changing. Saints have remained the biggest club despite being two divisions lower. Not that it matters, if he can't see who has the brighter future then he is either ignorant or stupid.

I'm sure if he is considered good enough he'll get a chance in the team. If he is considered not good enough yet but with potential he might get on the bench a few times (Oxlade-Chamberlain, McNish etc) or loaned out. If he is considered not good enough we'll get rid. It's harsh but that's the way of the world. I don't think you can take too much from performances in the reserves as unfortunately we play against a lot of dross in the reserve leagues now.

Well that's pretty unequivocal. Don't see how anyone can have a problem with that other than if you take the view that a plebicite is not an appropriate forum for making that decision as it's too complicated for most people to take an informed view on. If that is your stance then you'd only be concerned if you were in favour of the Euro as a plebicite is much more likely to throw up a "no" vote IMO.
