In fairness, if you decide to go abroad at the moment you must know there’s a risk of the situation changing. I’ve got relatively limited sympathy for people who booked a holiday abroad the first chance they got. Obviously if it’s a long-standing booking and you can’t get your money back then you’ll go.

It’s very hard to judge because there are so many variables. I’d say Matt Target is a much better footballer than Billy Sharpe or McBurnie, for example, and Josh King is probably better still. Yet somehow two of those nearly ended up qualifying for Europe, one got relegated and one just about stayed up. Horses for courses, really. Which makes me optimistic because we now have a manager with a clear plan and strategy again. Hughes, Pellegrino and Puel had no. clear plan, so we ended up signing players that, largely, couldn’t deliver what was asked of them.

The Covid break has really helped us. Before that we had turned a corner from the rubbish we were serving up in the first third of the season but we still rarely put a decent 90 minutes together. Since the break we've had one bad game but have been very consistent apart from that. The acid test will be the start of next season to see if we can carry on this consistency (of performance, if not result).

The atmosphere will be absolutely terrible as well. It'll be like a pre-season friendly. Frankly, most people buying ST'S are probably just loaning the club money. Really can't see the point, myself.

I've also just remembered I bumped into Jan Poortvliet and he was also a nice bloke. That episode gets more mental the more you think about it. Anyone remember the mysterious European chap with the glasses who seemed to be advising Lowe at the times?

You just reminded me that I met Prutton in a casino once and he was very nice.

We resurrected the N64 about six years later when I was doing post-grad stuff. Living with three other lads and MarioKart on the N64 was the post-dinner tournament to decide who washed up. Luckily I was absolutely fooking mint at MarioKart and always won. I will also beat anyone at Street Fighter 2 on the MegaDrive.
