  1. So doing business with a manifestly disingenuous company with no prior history from a country with no respect for anyone else is a bad idea?

    Coronavirus

Globally the rate of increase of cases is as high as it’s ever been. The curve is getting steeper, not flattening. There will be an uptick again in the UK, as there will be in most countries. Until most of us have had a vaccine this shite will carry on.

    ‘tis shite.
  5. A beautiful and heartfelt tribute. Emotional stuff.
  6. Maybe Ralph has already told him he's not wanted. I agree with the gist though - if he was motivated and fit he'd be just what we need.

    R.I.P.
  8. I doubt the break clause would have allowed them to leave this late in the summer. Anyway, good riddance. Hopefully Goa follows them. #goaway
  9. Yeah, that is surprising. I would email or call and ask them why.
  10. This is true, which is why The Chapel will be open.
  11. The Superfan implication was a bit tongue in cheek. I’m all for rewarding loyalty in some way but I don’t think a weighted ballot is the right way to do it.
  12. Hardly surprising that the sort of fans who get onto these committees might favour some sort of loyalty weighting! Personally, I think that’s a nonsense. If you’ve paid the same price for an ST you should have as much chance as anyone else of going to a match. And those who have missed a match should be given priority for the next match. Assuming we won’t sell many more STs then you should end up with a fairly simple rotation of cohorts or most people being able to attend most matches.
  13. Buddy Holly, by Weezer: What's with these wankers, dissing my team?Who have they got up front? What did we do to these guysThat made them so violent?Woo-hoo, but you know I'm yoursWoo-hoo, and I know you're mineSFC and that's for all of timeOo-ee-oo I look just like Duncan GoodhewOh-oh, and you're Mohamed SalisuI don't care what they say about us anywayI don't care 'bout that
  14. Trump is involved in the sense of abandoning his son-in-law’s existing stupid plan. Israel and the UAE have had decent relations for a while and have cooperated on security matters for some time. This is good news as long as Iran doesn’t do something stupid.
  15. His position is that it is logical not to express strong belief that something is the case without corroboration. You seem to be saying there is no corroboration. So if you differ, then the difference must be that you think it is logical to believe that something is the case without corroboration. Now, no evidence for something is not the same as evidence that there is not something, but as a general maxim it seems entirely sensible to generally base knowledge and belief on what can be corroborated, whilst recognising the potential for inductive knowledge to sometimes be misleading. I don't think you fundamentally disagree at all. The difference is whether you want to lay a blanket of superstition on top of that or not.
  16. Which kind of suggests it is just purely subjective fantasy inside people's heads. Which gives it as much ontological gravitas as a flying spaghetti monster. I think that is precisely the point MLG is making. So you agree. Which is nice.

Pretty slow and frustrating for me. Puts me off.
  18. Edit: what’s the point. You can’t debate sensibly with the deluded.
  19. How many people are actually complaining about that? Probably a small number of loud-shouting morons. You know who the usual suspects are.
  20. This is true, although I do remember KWP showing a good turn of pace in a match, I think. Armstrong is probably quicker than Redmond in a straight race but, as you say, appears less likely to be a top sprinter.
  21. Just change international law. Easy. #takebackcontrol
  22. Context is pretty important. If I call a friend a cunt then it’s ok. If I call a work colleague a cunt in the office then it’s probably not.
  23. It’s not entirely insignificant though. His company was expropriated by that state, which is a country with a very different approach to life and business than “ours”. He’s an economic fugitive, of sorts, whose apparent sole motivation is shielding some cash from the Chinese government. He’s been in hoc to the authorities ever since he was implicated in a bribery trial and would fail the current directors and owners test. And we don’t know why we needed to take an £80m loan out last month. Maybe it’s to cover some COVID shortfalls, maybe it’s something significant. We don’t know. But the accounts didn’t say we’d made provision to increase our facility to £80m, they said we’d actually drawn it down. The positives are that he doesn’t seem to be some sort of Vincent Tan / Rupert Lowe mentalist and seems to accept he doesn’t have anything to offer, but that’s really it.
  24. Sorry, old link!
