The 'Tampax Stadium' because Lowe is bleeding us dry...
-
There used to be a stadium called 'The Dell'. Can't remember which club it was but apparently they used to be quite good when they played there.
-
Well I've always wanted Richard Branson to buy the club. Then we could call the stadium the "Virgin Mary Stadium". Could make some extra cash on the side by sub-letting to the local Catholic church....
-
second that.

Well Kevin you're wrong. Embarrassing is a performance like we had against forest, losing 0-2. the United game we played with ten men for 60 minutes. The result was a loss but it was far from embarrassing.
-
Not really. From where I was sitting they played a good game. We moved the ball around well and defended well (although not consistently). As I said, we didn't have any real teeth up front which let us down. To say that the game was one sided is to do our lads a disservice. Christ, what's wrong with being a bit more positive about things once in a while? They played well against arguably the best outfit in the world - ok so some of the big guns weren't playing but they hardly had their 'b' team out either. I think some time some people expect miracles from the lads. It all goes back to the assumption that we are still a premiership club. Well we ain't. Live with it.

Well as far as I am concerned Our Lads in Red n White aquitted themselves realy well yesterday. The Ref was a complete retard, and United weren't exactly brilliant but our boys played good football with a lot more zest and passion than we have been used to. Kelvin was absolutely superb again. What a fantastic asset he is to our club. Thought we played excellent football between the boxes but yet again we showed up our huge weakness in front of goal. We just have no natural shot taker. I honestly reckon that we were United's equal with the exception of goal-scoring ability. United have scorers in abundance, we don't. And that is the reason we lost the game, and the reason we are at the bottom of the table. Something which must be addressed. Bringing back Saga will go someway to rectifying it. But all in all, a good game of football which our boys should feel well proud of. The ref was a feeble-arsed mutt and we played most of the game with only 10 men. One of their goals was defo offside and the pen was not a pen - it hit him on the back. Ok, so we are out of the cup but at least the club's finances are a bit better now after a full-house and hopefully the lads can take something from this game and really get motoring. We still have half a season to go. Anything is possible. We have to believe that we can beat relegation. Well done the Saints! Up the Saints.

No it is not. that is empathy. A very different thing. Empathy is, as you describe, putting one's self in their shoes and realising how horrid it would be to lose one's own children. Nothing wrong with that. And I do empathize with the people of Gaza and Israel. I am well aware that war is a terrible thing. Sympathy is a hollow emotion because it used as way to lend emotional support to others. To be effective those who you are sympathizing with must know that you care about them and if they have never met you how exactly can they even begin to know you care? Sympathy in this case is crocodile tears. If you want to help, why not donate to the Red Crescent or other charities. That would help. Sympathy doesn't.

Since when have we been discussing the West Bank? Gaza was considered part of the occupied territories and Israel has withdrawn from it. That is all I have said. In fact, until you just posted the words 'west bank' i only used them once to indicate that the palestinian leadership in WB is split from the Hamas-led leadership in Gaza. They dissaprove of Hamas. No, actually that is not right. They HATE Hamas. So how exactly have I got this wrong? and how exactly have I got a holier than thou attitude... oh I know! It is because I am a supporter of Israel and not a lemming who just goes along with the anti-semetic tripe served up by the media.
-
That is just pathetic. Sympathy is a hollow emotion which is meant to make the sympathizer feel good about himself. It does absolutely no good whatsoever for the victims. People and countries that get involved in other people's affairs only make things worse. Just look at Iraq. We can all wish that this sort of thing doesn't happen but there is absolutely nothing constructive we can do to stop it so we are better off minding our own business.
-
why do words fail you? Because I am not prepared to join the global hypocritical bandwagon of sitting in our nice comfortable Western world and crying crocodile tears after the latest news bulletin before switching the tv off and going to a nice, peaceful bed? If I was living and working in the region and had a tentative reason to be upset then I would be very sad for the dead and injured - of both sides. War, famine and pestilence have always happened and always will happen and innocent people - including children - will be caught up in the mess. I wish it didn't happen but it does. I do not have enough 'emotional reserves' to cry for all those who are affected.
-
Right, so you have never met me but you are able to make such crude statements as this? Who's the biggot? I am not a supporter of the raving-right. I am a supporter of Israel. I do not shed crocodile tears for people I have never met and have no connection with. To do so is just pure soap-opera hypocrisy. It is the same with the way all these sorts of things are reported. Sudan, Congo, Zimbabwe, Palestine, Georgia etc. The news is made to make us feel shocked and ill. You shouldn't take my unwillingless to care about the plight of foreigners in foreign wars as a nasty trait, as though I actually want to see them harmed. It is just that I can't do anything about it so i won't sit around feeling guilty about it. It is simply not my business. (ps: Do you know that 9 out of 10 American Jews are Democrats not Republicans? Most people assume that American Jews must be right-wingers because they support Israel. Nothing could be further from the truth.

So now they are 'Jews' rather than secular Israelis? My knowledge of this crisis is far, far better than you might imagine. Actually, if you do just the basic amount of research you would work out that: a) Jews have lived in the Holy Land since the time of Abraham - a lot further back in time than the last seven days. Jews have also historically gotten on with gentiles living in the region. b) The state of Israel was totally commited to a peaceful solution and was on the brink of sorting out this mess with the help of the Camp David accords, brokered by the Clinton administration in the US. The reason it did not happen was because Araffat refused due to inter-palestinian politics because the more extreme bigots - the very same Hamas - would not at any cost do a deal with the Israelis as they have NEVER recognized the Twelve Tribes' right to live anywhere in the Holy Land. c) Israel FORCEABLE removed its own citizens from Palestinian land over the last two years. Some had to be dragged out of the settled-homes at gun point. The democratically elected, secular, government in Israel realised that whilst there were illegal settlers on palestinian land real peace would not be achievable, so they moved them just as the palestinians wanted. d) Israel is commited to a two-state solution which is widely recognised as the only viable way forward. However, Israel rightly demands that Palestine recognizes the right of the state of Israel to exist before negotiations can begin. So far, the Hamas-heavy leadership both in Gaza and under influence on the West Bank has categorically refused to accept a state of Israel. e) Syria and Iran are heavily influencing the internal politics of Hamas and the now-defunct Palestinian Authority. Whilst Israel's Arab neighbours are making tentative noises confirming the right of Israel to exist the real drag on making any progress is from Syria and Iran who are keen to keep influence in the region as a proxy to opposing America. f) And crucially, Hamas deliberately broke the recent ceasefire almost certainly at the behest of their Iranian sponsors. There is no stealing of land going on. If you are that ill-educated about the situation perhaps you should go to the library and read up on it. There are so many sympathisers in the West who do not have even the basic grasp of what is going on in the Middle East. All they see is Big Bad Israel and Poor Little Palestine and, aided by a very biased media, form these incorrect opinions about Israel stealing land. As I have explained above, it is in fact Israel which has STOPPED its citizens from taking Palestinian land. Israel supplies Palestine with fresh water and electricity and continues to do so, which is most unusual doing wartime. The propaganda war against Israel is frightening. Israel is the stable, secular democracy in the region and has every right to defend itself against terrorists. I can say with up most certainty that Israel wants good peaceful relationship with a stable, democtratic Palestinian state. Israel has no intentions to wipe out the palestinians. The same can not be said for the Hamas-led palestinian 'state'.

This is actually quite serious ****. Europe has been too quite for too long now. Russia is not, repeat NOT, a stable democracy. Since the price of oil collapsed from its $150 highs in the summer to its now $40 per barrel the Russian hard-currency economy has been hit big time. They are itching for a fight, just look at georgia. I mean no disrespect whatsoever to the brave men and women who have fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, and especially to those that have paid the ultimate price, but I reckon we are going to see a real 'hot' war soon, not just one of these politicians' phony play-time wars like Iraq and Afghanistan. We will soon be in a war which really matters to our country and there is a good chance that Gas, or the lack of, will play a big part.

well that proves that: a) the swear'o'meter protects against the word C-O-C-K b) the swear'o'meter does not recongnize the word F-A-N-N-Y c) I am a bestial-perverted F-U-C-K

my whippet just licked her fanny but I really want her to lick my ****.

Exactly. Can you imagine id D-Day had been fought under the "50-50 rule". Our lads storm the beaches and kill five jerries. Then a bloke with a Referee's shirt on and a megaphone shouts towards the Germans: "Ok, you can now kill up to 5 British." Crazy... War is fought to win. Israel is at war with Hamas. Why should they give a rats arse about how many of the enemy they kill? The job is to destroy them so that they stop firing rockets at Israeli civilians.

Some Palestinian woman and her fellow cohorts button-holed me outside Waitrose on Saturday. They had set up a stall and were handing out leaflets urging me to boycott Israeli products. They were shouting and stamping their feet and wailing against the Great Evil Jews. I was in a particularly grumpy mood so I turned to her and shouted back "how many Israeli civilians have been killed over the years by Hamas rockets?". She said none because Hamas was a peaceful organization. I just laughed in her face. What gets right up my nose - and I am not Jewish - is that people are very quick to condemn Israel but conveniently forget that it was Hamas who just broke the ceasefire, and Hamas (which is a terrorist outfit) who deliberately targets Israeli civilians. Sure the Israeli war planes have killed more Palestinians but the difference is that when Israel launches attacks it does so to defend itself and makes a point of NOT targeting civilians. Sure there are civilian casualties, and 1 is too many, but I will not waste a single tear for the terrorist scum in Hamas - or their Iranian quatermasters. Let's hope that 2009 sees Hamas realise that if they want peace they had better stop shooting rockets at Israel. That is my prayer at least.

Plus there is fack all to celebrate. Wooo Bloody Hooo, its 2009, the year the economy dives and makes the Great Depression look like a veritable boiler house of economic activity. Millions are going to lose their jobs, basic services are going to fail and most sadly of all our once-proud football club is going to be relegated to the third division of English football and end up in the bankruptcy court. Yeah, what a facking party! Whooo bloody hooo...

Absolutely disagree. There is a reason why the Statue of Justice atop the Old Bailey has a blind fold on. It doesn't and shouldn't matter who you are, pauper or prince, Liverpool captain or even a skate, the law must be applied equally and without prejudice. Gerrard should be judged as if he were a nobody.

I hate smoking with a passion but if some deluded madman wants to stick a tube of dried leaves in his mouth, set fire to it and inhale the toxic smoke into his lungs thus seriously damaging his health, tarring up his lungs, dramatically increasing his chances of getting cancer and heart problems then that is his choice - just so long as I don't have to partake in his slow-motion suicide. I doubt there could be found anyone who likes the Labour party less than me in all Christendom but I do take my hat off to the government for banning smoking in public places. Really nice now to be able to go out to the boozer and come back not stinking of cancer. All that said, when a fella pays £24 to support his footie club he should at the very least be given a warning first before he is chucked out the ground for having a fag. There is no doubt that some - not all, but some - of the Orange Jackets at SMS are little neo-nazis. Give some people a uniform and an air of authority and suddenly they start frog-marching people off to Auschwitz.

Calling all Saints living in and around Brighton and Hove. Anyone interested in going for a pint anytime send me a PM or reply here. Same goes for traveling to games. I am usually on the 11:36 train from Brighton Station on match days. Would be more enjoyable to share the journey with fellow Saints - and we can winge about the state of the club over a can or two of warm lager. Should make the journey go quicker.....
