If Luke has been told to lose weight it will be the worst thing he can do. Both Pochettino and Hodgson told him he needs to beef himself up. Any additional weight needs to be turned to muscle to support his joints, hamstrings. Just losing weight would only end up with him turning into a cripple.

Schneiderlin is a 'key player' for Ron Updated 8:11am Monday 18th August 2014 in Saints News Daily Echo: Photograph of the Author By Adam Leitch, Chief Sports Writer Daily Echo: Morgan Schneiderlin Morgan Schneiderlin Ronald Koeman has backed Morgan Schneiderlin to be a key player for his side this season after bringing him into the team to face Liverpool. The French midfielder was keen to join some of his former teammates in getting out of St Mary’s this summer and was even left out of the starting line-up for the final pre-season friendly against Bayer Leverkusen as a result. However, Schneiderlin has accepted Saints’ decision that he will not be sold and returned to training last week. Despite an extended break due to his World Cup exploits with France and not having played a single minute in pre-season, Koeman opted to throw Schneiderlin straight into the team at Anfield and believes the 24-year-old will be a vital player in the weeks and months ahead. “I think it was good for him,” said Koeman. “You saw it in the last ten minutes that he was tired because it was his first match. “The competition was starting today, yesterday for the rest, and he’s a player of Southampton. “He will continue playing for Southampton. “He changed his mind, he changed his mentality and he showed us that last week and he’s a key player. “He showed his qualities. He’s a strong and good football player. “He’s very important for our team and it’s normal for me to put him in the line-up.” It was very much a new-look Saints side that started at Anfield after all the changes of the summer. Koeman also had to tinker with his tactics during the game and did so to good effect as Saints became far more effective in the second period. “We had a lot of changes in the team in pre-season, but we had a good pre-season because we worked hard to our way of playing and how we did the high pressing in the second half was a little bit different to the first half,” said Koeman. “I think in the first half we lost a lot bit of attention in transition to the attack of Liverpool and they got two chances like that, and one was the goal. It wasn’t good defensive organisation for that moment. “We didn’t create the opportunities that we did in the second half but in total we played well and we deserved a better result and that gives us a lot of confidence.” http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/11415187._/?ref=mac

Adam Blackmore's just tweeted that Saints have lost all 9 Premier League games when Clattenburg was in charge. Liverpool have won all 6 games he was in charge

Well said mate. I'd go further and move and close most of the threads and start afresh as of today. Rid the forum of its negativity and give the new season good luck and a fresh start

Koeman promises not to use Saints as a stepping stone

Big article in the Observer saying Louis Van Moyes and Ronald Koeman will need help from above to succeed in the Premier League. Some interesting points about their past relationship I'd not known about. http://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2014/aug/16/louis-van-gaal-ronald-koeman-manchester-united-southampton -
I've just tweeted your disclosure from Harrison Reed to Koeman. If Reed isn't selected tomorrow he'll no doubt sh it in your face the next time he sees you in Melbourne.

Pochettino's gone down the tunnel in disgust at penalty then a sending off hahaha

Congratulations to Swansea and to Billy. Once a true Saint it lives on forever. Well done Gary and Billy. Both decent players with us with saintly integrity.

Its not free and wants 5.5 US Dollars per week
-
He hasn't been seen for 3 weeks!!!
-
Louis van Moyes looks furious He's going to let rip in the dressing room.
-
Would so love to see Swansea win this and Saints win at Anfield to give Koeman a huge one over Van Gaal.
-
Any good links that don't have that ******* Michael Owen commentating. His voice is pathetic.

Anyone heard how this mornings training went and how and when the team are traveling up to the game? I hope there has been no cost saving on travel and accommodation costs for this season and the lads are give the chance to start the game in best condition.

Well said sir!

I don't wish to see endless threads speculating on Sam's health but there are a number of illnesses that effect young people. Most common is glandular fever which takes a couple of months to clear up. Hopefully it's something that will respond well to rest and good medication. Wishing Sam a speedy recovery.
