  1. It speaks volumes about Portsmouth's view of their own hideous backyard that every major junction has a directional sign reading "Out Of City". I don't recall seeing that anywhere else, and I've been to Bristol.
  2. I was born in eastleigh, and fully intend to watch the local derby next season.
  3. Lukaku is going nowhere except on a loan deal, imho. He is being used tactically by chelsea. As others have mentioned previously, there really should be a ban on players being loaned to other clubs in the same division.
  4. Sound advice. By the time he's finished reading through that, J Rod will be back to full fitness.
  5. It probably will abroad, as long as they're in the prem.
  6. I just googled "southampton sexcrimes", and the top page was a blog by some guy called Brian Earsy.
  7. Was that something like it?

Never google your symptoms. It's always cancer, and you're always going to die.

  11. When I saw that, I wondered whether our defence had been instructed to protect against shots on goal to a greater extent (and at greater risk) than usual, because we had our 3rd choice keeper on.

Devastating, for him especially, but the club as well. Contrary to some comments above, I think he had a very good chance of making the WC squad; young player, excellent form, regular starter for a top half prem side in an ocean of clubs who have very few English players. How many did Citeh start today? Just Hart? I'm really gutted for the lad, and the squad will miss him hugely in the run in.
  13. From what I saw, (last 10 mins of 1st half onwards,) I'd agree. Credit to him for booking Toure for diving in the box, but I also agree with MP that the abysmal offside "goal" should have been countermanded by Foy even if the lino couldn't see it, it was that blatant. And he's right, it did alter the entire dynamic of the game, at that stage we looked the better side and had not long equalised. One other thing, credit where its due to the Citeh crowd for clapping Jay off the pitch. We heard it on Solent in the van, sounded like the whole stadium was applauding him as he was carried off and the taters said there was a complete standing ovation? Respect to them for that.
  14. This is something that annoyed me recently. My neighbour's daughter got done for 35 in a 30, and showed me the ticket she received in the post. She and her friend had been sharing the driving up to the Midlands, and they genuinely couldn't remember which of them was driving through the village they got radared in. I suggested she reply asking for photo evidence in order to send the correct licence for endorsement. She pointed out that were she to do so, the penalty rises from £85, a driver awareness course, and no licence endorsement, to £100+ and 3 points on your licence. Just for asking the question. They ended up flipping a coin for the awareness course, and splitting the fine between them. So nobody knows whether or not the right driver got "educated", as the police have effectively blackmailed them into admitting an offence there is only a 50% chance of them having actually committed. Am I alone in finding this appalling?
  15. Yep, decent shout. He might complement Osvaldo nicely on his return from Juve.
  16. I went into a dingy gym, and a huge bodybuilder sidled up to me. "Are you the guy with the 'roids?" he asked furtively. I said "no, I just didn't feel like sitting down."

    Fixed it for you, Badger
  18. Thanks for that image, Lenny.
  19. Was that chap swearing?
  20. TMS died with Deppo. Oh, hang on......
  21. Do you seriously believe that the general public would have endorsed the Maastricht treaty had they been given a referendum on it? ffs, Major had enough trouble getting it past his own party. Electing a party to government should not mean that you give them carte blanche to do anything they feel like for the next 5 years. Incidentally, if Blair had had his way, we'd be in the eurozone now. Not for any practical economic reason, but because tony wanted to sit at the big table with all the other credible european leaders like berlusconi and francois hollande. The fact that we avoided that fate is one of two things I thank Gordon Brown for, the other being his rearguard (but ultimately unsuccessful) opposition to the debacle of the iraq invasion.
  22. This made me chuckle. Remember when fergie stepped on the pitch and told the plastic "fans" that their job was to get behind the new manager and give him a chance, and got a massive round of applause? Well, here are the "fans" getting behind fergie's chosen successor. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26783751 I've always hated them, but for me that's just one more reason to.
  23. One could say that he's the new Alpine, (who hardly seems to post nowadays...). Not me though, oh dearie me no.
  24. When I lived in that general area, (stoke and newcastle under lyme,) I worked a fair bit in Manchester. Any football fan who didnt support them invariably referred to them as "The Munichs". For their part, the man u fans referred to liverpool as the "Hillsborough Orphans", and made a point of carrying copies of the Sun to man u/liverpool games. Dont know if thats still the case, perhaps BS could enlighten us.
