I just watched the outtakes from my favourite porn film. Turns out he did fix that washing machine after all.
-
I was swapping jokes with a friend over a pint. "What do you do if you see an epileptic having a fit in a bathtub?......." I grinned. "........throw in your washing." My mate laughed, but a guy at the next table leaned across. "That's in very poor taste," he frowned. "My brother was epileptic, and he died last week in our bath." "No offence," I replied. "What happened, did he bang his head?" "No," he said. "He choked on one of my socks."

"I'm leaving you," my girlfriend announced. "I've heard you're a paedophile." "Paedophile?" I said. "that's a big word for an eight year old."

Never underestimate the American public. They've got a way to sink yet.

Yes, it's mentioned in the mail link. Brilliant match, that

The point he saved us against the victims, and the way he did it, was worth a contract extension in itself. Pure comedy gold.

According to unverified reports they'll be forced to use it to repay their student loans.
-
Student loans go to those who choose to go into further education at age 18, I think. That's up to them, they aren't under any obligation to do so. I bet Whiteys education stopped at 16, I'm younger but mine stopped at that age apart from a grant that paid part of my rent in the Midlands. My parents had to pay a percentage of that.

The rise in housing costs and taxes has far more to do with the rise in living standards and consequently life expectancy since the inception of the welfare state than any other factor. Whitey had no more control over that than any other pensioner. I lived with my grandparents as a kid, they didn't even have an indoor toilet. Nowadays people seem to consider sky tv, broadband, mobiles and cars as necessary to their existence. It was also quite unusual to find anyone who owned their own place rather than renting.

Back when National Insurance started it was supposed to be partly invested to cover pensions. The rot set in when NI got lumped in with general taxation and became available to government to do with as they will. If it was given a bulletproof ring fence and only used for its original purpose I doubt many people would object to paying what is necessary to sustain it.

Never objectify a woman. It hates that.

I didn't vote either way, but my preferred result would have been as narrow as possible a remain verdict. It should never have been put to a vote in the first place, but if there had been a significant win for remaining it would have been pounced on by the next pro European UK government as an excuse to drag us farther in than we already were, probably including eurozone entry (which was what blair tried, lucky for us brown had the balls to face him down on it.) Looking at where we are now it would be self destructive not to follow it through.

I meant that there are some clear "things" that will come about because of brexit regardless of any opinions on their value. IMHO, swathes of voters were persuaded by the end of freedom of movement and a return to full border control, an end to our EU contributions, UK laws taking precedence again, confirmation of an independent UK military, and the one which doesn't seem to have been discussed much, the final scuppering of any idea of scrapping sterling and joining the eurozone. The pros and cons of any of these are open to debate, but they are tangible concepts put before the voters and now inevitable unless we abort the process (which I personally think would be disastrous at this stage.)
-
I'm neutral on brexit, but what we'll presumably gain by leaving are the things the electorate voted for, not just the economy or the environment.

Wtf?

I remember Jimmy Gabriel scoring a rare goal, a blinder of an overhead kick at the Dell. Can't recall who we were playing, but we were three or four down by then anyway.

Someone kick the turntable, this ones stuck.

I found it very hard going.
