So if it is true and the embargo has been lifted that means £1.6m from the Sky money goes back to them correct? So if on friday they miss the wages again even after receiving the funds to pay it then the PL need to start coming down hard on them.

Drunk yes, 5 year old no! The compilation was not as funny as the other one simply because it was a streaker doing it on live tv (although could be fake perhaps?). The un-expected is funny! Sure it is imature as hell but hey i'm not trying to impress anyone! The day i don't laugh my ass off at silly stuff will be a very sad day

If we beat Pompey we would of won 5 fa cup games. Which is the same amount needed to reach the final for a prem team.
-
Couldn't find one, so maybe a mod could make one and maybe sticky it I saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QFpUZ-hFbA&feature=related And could not stop laughing for about 10mins. It is probably really old and everyone has probably seen it. But still fecking hillarious!

I could be wrong here but don't they have the option to go into voluntary admin which in turn stops the HRMC case due to them no longer having prefered creditor status? I think they can do that but is dangerous as still about 75% chance they would go into liquidation.
-
In that case if they have £60m to spend so freely why do they not buy a bigger club with that money? If i had **** loads of cash i would buy a club with a lot more potential then a small club with a small stadium and **** attendances....
-
As i said a few hundred pages ago Why would anyone buy Portsmouth Fc now? Why would someone buy the club and inherit the £60m+ debt they have when they could wait a few weeks and potentially buy the club for a tiny fraction and owe nobody anything when it is in admin? Why would someone buy a club £60m+ in debt who is at the bottom of the PL 6 points adrift who recently have had attendances of around 10k in a stadium they do not even own? If someone does then they have far more money then sense. For that reason i cannot see it happening. They might do what they have already done twice before. Just transfer ownership to someone else. And let them deal with the fallout. Either way won't change a thing. The only chance they have is by raising the funds needed to pay those they owe by this time next week. If they can't raise the funds by selling players or the chuckle brothers don't put their own money in then it will be over.

Hopefully the ref get's the other 2 game ban then, what a chump.

A massive week then for Portsmouth. The make or break week you could say. They will find out about the appeal to hrmc, on friday the wages have to be paid and if are not isn't that 4 times out of the last 5 months? The embargo will or will not be lifted. Players could or could not be moved on. And the transfer window shuts meaning they have to make do with what they have on that closure plus no more ability to sell players to raise funds for 5 months. The longer the week goes on you have to say the less likely they will be to getting any big fees for their players. I cannot see someone paying £10m for Kaboul with 20mins of the window left knowing full well that if Portsmouth don't sell they could pick him up for a free in a matter of weeks.

Again does that not boil down to the people who were running the club? Did WGS not bring those players in? Everton the season before were about to go down, finally finished 15th (we were 11th) and spent a massive £1.2m on players in the summer and finished 7th. If you think one of the bottom clubs can pay £1.2m after battling relegation today and then finish in europe the following season then i would love to see that. Pardew has spent a lot of money in terms of the league we are in. But in 02/03 so did WSG as the table prooves to you. And no team will do what Arsenal did again, that is not an indication of how crap the league is.....It shows that the gulf in class between the top 4 to the top 7 is nowhere near as much as it was. Some other clubs have become better, due to....money. Look at the table for 02/03. Man Utd the champions of that year played 38 games and lost 5. They have lost 5 of their 20 games this season already! Liverpool lost 10 of 38 and have already lost 7 of 20 this season. Arsenal lost 6 of their 38 in 02/03 and have already lost 4 of their 19 games this season. Just more proof to show how hard the league has become.
-
Can you not just admit you were wrong TDD? You said we didn't spend any money. The table shows we were the 7th highest spenders for the year....Spending more then teams like Arsenal,Chelsea,Spurs etc.. We didn't spend as much as we should have done the following season, but that we weren't talking about, as mentioned countless times.....
-
I disagree mate. Just 1 year later Everton got into the top 4. A club that battled relegation just a year before will never get into the top 4 the following season again. A club from the lower half will find it near impossible to lodge Man U,Arsenal,Chelsea and now City from the top 4. And then finishing above either Liverpool,Spurs or Villa will be nearly as hard. The 8th spot in the league will always be a spot that is hard to predict because any of the other 13 teams could take it. Where as the top 7 are now pretty much set in stone. The top 8 in 02,03 was Man U,Arsenal,Newcastle,Chelsea,Liverpool,Blackburn,Everton and us. I doubt very much we will see a finished table like that again. Simply because of money. Thus making it harder.
-
This was the table for the amount each club spent in 02/03 Man Utd – £32m Man City - £30m Newcastle - £22.5m Sunderland - £16m Liverpool - £14m Middlesbrough - £11m Southampton - £8m Tottenham - £7m West Brom - £6.95m Arsenal - £6.6m Aston Villa = £5m Blackburn - £4.6m Birmingham - £3.75m Leeds - £2.75m Charlton - £2.7m Fulham - £2m Everton - £1.25m Chelsea - £500k West Ham - £100k Bolton - £0 We were the 7th highest spending team that year. I think that pretty much kills that whole "we didn't spend any money" argument.....
-
£2m Svensson £2m Niemmi £1.5m Higginbottom £2.5m Prutton etc etc £8m+ is money is it not? Im talking about our cup year not the year it all went tits up
-
I think i might have named the title wrong of this thread. What i'm asking people is what is the bigger achievment. What WGS did or what Pardew "could" do? Not be-littling (excuse the pun) WGS. Who is a legend and always will be in my opinion.
-
Well back then prior to june there was no Abromovich, no rich Man City, no money at spurs, moyes had just saved Everton from going down, Liverpool had Diouf as their striker and Houllier got sacked, Newcastle finished 5th and Charlton finished 7th. Think it is pretty obvious the PL is a lot harder now then back then. Just having Chelsea's money changed football alone. (not for the good imo)
-
Reason i think that is firstly to get to a final in the fa cup in the PL you must win 5 games. A league 1 team has to win 5 games just to get to the last 8. Meaning Pardew would of won the same amount of consecutive games as WGS in the FA Cup in a single year. Obviously to win 5 from a lower league is harder. Secondly We started the season in a total mess. With -10. To take a team who had been bottom of the league for over a year and take them to the playoffs is a massive achievement, to then win the 3 playoff game is again huge. Thirdly he would be the first person to win us a trophy since 76 if we win the JPT. Finishing 8th in the PL in 03 when the teams were a lot weaker then they are today and getting to the final of the cup is a great achivement, but i would rate what we could do as harder to do at this momment in time.
-
If we win JPT, Beat Skates in next round of FA Cup to get a League 1 team into the last 8, and win Playoffs to go up to CCC? Personally i think that would be an amazing achievement and in my mind better then what WGS did in 03.
-
Have to say i choose the Skates game too.... 5th place would be a great achivement. But it doesn't mean we will go up. If we then played in playoffs and lost would mean nothing. Next year we will defo be top 2. I love the league, don't get me wrong. Just the cups are our only chance to win something. The buzz of playing and winning against Portsmouth at this momment in time would out weigh playing and winning against say Peterborugh (no offence to them).

Let the good times roll!

Nah this has got sunday 12.45 written all over it as they will want to limit the amount of people in the city i.e shoppers etc.. Having it at 3pm on saturday is just asking for "extra" trouble imo.
-
I was supposed to be going to Bath for the weekend. I told her we got Pompey and she was like "we'll you go to the football and i will take my sister, your still paying for it". Result then

Can't fecking wait. We deserve this. All those people (including me) who travelled to the biggest **** holes last year to see us get beat with the fecking muppet regime we had in charge. It is Karma. They took the **** out of us when we were down and now hopefully will get their comupence (is that how you spell it?)! Those people saying it is a bad draw, come on.... We are a good team that will be better with players coming back from injury etc.. They are a team that will likely be worse by kick off time. A team who are already bottom of the Prem league. A bunch of nobodies who by the sound of things want out, i can't see them putting in the same passion as our lads. COYR let's show these blue few the real pride of the south!
