Hang on a sec, if you read the article with Jacobs comments today at the meeting he say's "we are fighting the prem leagues decision to retain sky's tv money"...... Didn't they say earlier it was their idea to use the money to pay the debts?..... Sooner these muppets are put out of business the better

2 losses in the last 4? You mean 2 losses in the last 12 games.... We still have to play most of the teams above us at home. Based on the last 8 games form we are 5th http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D2/oform.html Point being while we drew it is not a bad result. We are still getting points and if it wasen't for a total switch off today from our defence we would of got 3. If we can now sure up the defence with the new boy's and get the right attacking balance in we will crush teams. People over reacting are just being silly, but for the most of them it is nothing new, they are known for it.
-
Exactly, it is quite pathetic. What kill's their whole defence is they magically forget we had -10 points taken away. If we were on a level footing as the other teams we would be what 4th? 7 points or so from the top 2? 3 losses in the last 21 games.....
-
You do realise Millwall have lost only 1 game at home all season right? Have only had 8 goals scored against them prior to today? As someone else mentioned to you we have just played 3 of the top 5 teams in a row away. In context to statistics it is a very good result. So cheer up fella, we actually moved up the table.....
-
Was not there so obviously cannot comment on how people played. But i am not happy that we have gone into a defensive team. We have quality in our squad who have the ability to rip teams apart and we are not playing to that strength. Millwall are a good team and didn't sound like they deserved to lose. A draw is a good result. But please Pardew stop going to places and going for draws. We need a proper centre midfield player in the squad. Morgan is good but his assist ratio is terrible, we need someone who can unlock the defence with a pass. The next 4 league games are must wins or you have to say playoffs is no chance. We still have to play most of the teams above us at home so can still make up the points but we won't do that by being negative.

So when are their wages next due then? They were supposed to be paid last month on xmas eve but maybe that was because of the bank holiday's?

Guess he did not like working with a sports cheat or something

In a way i do feel sorry for them. Sure there are a lot of tossers there who stuck the knife in when we were in the **** but there are also a lot of decent ones. I can't help but think what is happening to them is what would of happened to us if the Le Tissier consortium had got in. I think those who are protesting are doing the right thing. The chuckle brothers whole angle is they put £40m into the club. But they didn't. They just took out a loan to pay another loan in the clubs name. This Jacobs guy sounds just like our Tony fella, promising certain things would happen but never do. No doubt they will use the anger being directed at them to back out of the club but in reality that was always going to happen anyway. If they had the money they would of done it by now, not let things get further and further into the ****. I get the feeling these people thought they would come in on the cheap and sell the club very quick and make a profit. They obviously did not have a proper look at the books did they. If someone asked me for business advice on a company in that situation you would have to say stay the hell away from it. Thinking about where they can go from here is very difficult to do. Their people talking to the media Jacobs,Storrie and the chuckle brother have lost all credibility. They are like that comical ali person. This tv money was obviously a huge thing for the regime. They probably gambled everything with that in mind. As mentioned probably had some agreement with someone where if they get the money they would be in an healthier situation and thus loaning them money would not seem so bad. But if the PL feel that the finances were still in fairy land and unrealistic then that has to be one of the final nails on the coffin. Because if the PL do not believe in this potential deal then neither will the creditors, they will be more twitchy then ever. The only way they will escape this is now with someone putting their own money into it, accepting the loss and trying to keep them up. But that won't happen. The harsh thing is even if they go into admin because they owe so much to so many people it is unlikely they would be able to get out of admin for the £15m or so like we did. Because that would mean someone paying £30m for basically just a name, they would not get the stadium etc.. So i think those protesting are probably right to do so.
-
sorry if already posted http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/p/portsmouth/8453406.stm So that will be that then. They still owe £3m to clubs and have to pay the wages again in a couple of weeks. So say that is another £1.5m. Meaning they have to find that before the embargo is lifted. Which means you have to say Kaboul is gone. And if he doesn't go for anywhere near that then game over, the HRMC will rip them apart.
-
Indeed. Both have good managers which makes a huge difference. Can give a crap manager loads of money and he will still be crap. But give a good manager a small lump of money and he will get the most from it. I think Davies and Pearson have both shown to be very resourceful.
-
So with a signing of another defender think we can assume Thomas has probably gone then. Hopefully i am wrong as i quite like him. He is on daft wages but that is not his fault, our ex crap manager and board are to blame for that one.

I think i'm going to stick with what i said just before our 1st game. We have come from a disaster zone that was in the making since 2003, we fell from the top and hit almost rock bottom. We had the worst group of players i can remember having, no manager and no money. In a short space of time look how far we have come. If we had got in some of the other people who wanted to buy us i have no doubt we would still be in the bottom four now. Point being it is a building process. With each of these signings comes a potential brick to add to our new wall. It is not quite built yet but is getting there. So i think we will miss out on it this year, and if we do i won't be dissapointed. The first half to the season has been amongst the most enjoyable starts to a season i can remember. If we go into the 2nd half with the same form then we have every chance of making it. A win on saturday will go a long way. But next year is our year. If we do make the playoff's though that would be an amazing achivement, maybe better then getting to the cup final.

Acording to http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/newshome/Anxious-wait-ahead-over-transfer.5981828.jp they say it will be friday now. Got to love how these things move from supposed date to date. PL said it would be tues, then weds, and now friday. What is the bet on friday it will be monday? Would not surprise me to see that happen for the next 2 weeks until the window shuts. Then they will lift the embargo.
-
Yeah he is not a bad player, as mentioned was in the leagues team of the year. A 6 month deal is wise and as it is a free we have not lost anything other then wages.
-
Would be great to see Ward sign but i would hazard a guess it will be Danns. Which is also great!
-
I think the reason it is taking so long is because the PL are giving Portsmouth more time to show that the finances are better now, the club is run better and the people running it actually do have the money they claimed they had. Because if the PL lift the embargo and they sign a couple of players, then it comes out they have not paid some clubs they owe to and have not paid the wages again the PL will have a lot to answer for. How could you let them sign people when they won't get paid etc.. So really i think the PL know they are in a no win situation with Portsmouth. They made huge mistakes letting these people into the club in the first place. If they lift the embargo and things actually stay the same or get worse then the PL will get heavily criticised. Imagine they lift the embargo, they sign 2 or 3 players on free's. And on the final day of the season one of those players scores a winning goal to keep them up. Meaning a club which has been run right and not in financial trouble and played by the rules goes down. The potential ****storm that could come from that could be huge. Because if that got to court it would be a case of a club run badly being helped out over a club which had been run fine and so on, it would obviously be unfair on that club because without the PL helping the club they would not have scored that goal to survive. If it were a normal business they would not been encouraged to spend well beyond their means, they would pay the price for their mismanagement, the PL are trying to avoid that happening because of the brand image. So personally i think unless they do actually have money now things won't change, the embargo won't lift. Because if it does the fallout from it at the end of the year could end up costing the PL tens of millions of pounds.
-
Maybe a wise decision. I think a lot of people forget there is a very high chance we will still be in league one next season. Probably wise not to do a Burley and gamble everything on one push for it to back fire. Got to think for the future and if this guy is better then our youngsters then that is an improvement, even if it is only slight.
-
Portsmouth were **** but so were Coventry. One of the most boring games that is for sure. Is Coleman doing crap then?
-
If that is true then as i said earlier the PL will change their attitude towards them now, for the worse. It seems that the whole set-up of these potential loans maybe hanged on getting this tv payment. Portsmouth think they should get about £2m back from it while the PL think they will have to pay an additional £3m+ to clubs. If Portsmouth don't get this money then i think that will be that. Where as i'm sure the PL will not like the way Portsmouth have asked to receive the money even though they obviously have no right to it having not paid the clubs they owe. Queue another court case.
-
Indeed you might have done As let's be honest here, i don't think they will be getting a takeover anytime soon Unless you count the admin and HRMC teams moving in a takeover!
-
Or "Portsmouth FC have not been able to meet their commitments with regards to paying the clubs they owe money to. We have decided to give Portsmouth their share of the TV money as a goodwill gesture. We have also adopted a "pay the wages when you feel like it" principle. We only wish every club in the footballing land followed Portsmouth's great example of if you don't got it, spend it."

Think the thread title should be changed to "Last Day's of Pompei"

I have not actually seen him play so maybe i'm a little harsh. But i don't think i have seen anyone who has say anything good.

If Davis get's injured then obviously Bart will takeover. So it is a question of who is the better 3rd choice keeper/prospect. Poke has been with us a longtime now, must be at least 6 years? He seems to be doing well at Torquay and has started 17 game this year, learning his trade at a lower division. Where as Forecast went on loan to Grimsby played a couple of games and was sent home for being gash. If the 2nd to bottom club in the whole of football league send you home then chances are your not so great. And at 23/24 he should be doing what Poke has done for the past 3-4 years and actually be playing games. So that is why i said Forecast simply because at 23/24 he has next to no experience and one of the teams who took a chance on him thought he was rubbish. In a couple of years he will be 25/26 and will have played only 4 games since 2002/03 if thing's remain as they are. It has nothing to do with Lowe getting him in. And reason i said Holmes is simply because the lad is injured quite a bit. He is a decent player when he is out there playing but he has been with us 18 months now, and has played 11 games and in those 11 games has not really done anything major. I would trade him for Waigo for sure.
