  1. According to these an Italian website Poch wants change of scenery and will leave in June. He was interested in Spurs job when they were looking for new manager. http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/europa/esclusiva-tmw-southampton-pochettino-a-fine-stagione-possibile-addio-516820
  2. Doesnt really matter because next time he refs one of our games he will know his performance will be under extra scrutiny so Saints should benefit regardless, whether it be he just referees impartially or even better bias officiating like he did for Everton.
  3. according to the Telegraph the FA have rejected our requested for investigation into Clattenburg's conduct. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/10553514/Football-Association-turn-down-request-to-investigate-Mark-Clattenburg-over-Adam-Lallana-comments.html No real surprise but at least Clattenburg will hopefully up his game next time knowing all eyes will be on him. Saints have at least raised awareness of his incompetence albeit they have made a real dog's dinner of it and have made lallana look like a right tool at the same time.
  4. Same website who reported Wayne Rooney was signing for Newcastle once upon a time. Also that quoted source sounds like something a spotty teenage ITK agent wannabe on twitter would write
  5. davis chambers yoshida jos fox cork Morgan Reed Osvaldo Ramirez Lambert Dont think Jrod will start as he has played a lot of games of late regardless of the sentimental value. Also Davis has played a lot lately. Given clyne, JWP and shaw have knocks cant see them being risked. Fonte and Lovren need a rest and be fresh for WBA game. They are too important to risk all the while we have inadequate cover.
  6. Wonder what he said to make saints complain? Must have been offensive This guy has way too much history now for it just to be swept under the carpet surely. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. 11/12k max. **** weather, second string team and high ticket prices don't bode well for decent turnout
  8. Seems odd club would have gone to effort of highlighting his 2013 if he was off. On the other hand may mean there is something in carlos vela rumour then. 8m is tempting if reinvested into another striker
  9. Chelsea would have consumed a lot of energy against Liverpool yesterday but there bench/squad is super strong. Mata and Demba Ba always seem to hit the jackpot against us. The xmas period is really punishing for most teams apart from likes of city and chelsea. I would bring morgan and clyne back in. Chambers has done nothing wrong but clyne is a class act. If osvaldo fit I would bring him in for lambert. Plenty of winnable games in 2014 so we need to get wanyama and boruc back asap. first choice 11 is a match for anybody, but problem is it is a squad game these days. A decent CB and LB cover in Jan could prove the difference between mid table and 6/7th finish. Shaw is bound to miss another 3-4 games at least based on his illness/injury record to date. fox not good enough to cover for 1 game let alone 3-4.
  10. Yoshida got murdered by lukaku last season (jos as well) so lovren will be needed. Not going to help morale changing it after clean sheet but poch will have to be ruthless in order for us to have realistic chance of shutting Everton out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. If lovren fit I would bring him back in as harsh as it may seem after a clean sheet but Everton obviously far better than Cardiff. I actually predicted sunderland to win 1-0 on super six on basis Everton may start to tire over Xmas period as they have a pretty settled starting 11. They have no real decent cover for Distin or jagielka. To get anything we must protect back four by picking up Barkley, marellas and pieneer inbetween the lines as highlighted by savage on MOTD last night Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. How can you be so sure?
  13. I am getting annoyed with Poch's lack of direct response when asked about injuries and the way he hides behind the interpreter (not literally). He says we are not going to be active in January yet he doesnt give any outlook on injuries to calm the fans fears, so the fans are left questioning the clubs strategy. I dont want to see wholesale changes in January but it is clear as day we need a CB and LB. When 99% of the fan base cringed at the thought of Jos and Fox playing yesterday it is safe to say we need to strengthen in those areas. Yoshida, Turnball and Stephens are not the answer. Dont know enough about Taggett to be fair to form an opinion. If we have clyne, shaw and fonte back for cardiff then I will be optimistic but anything less, then I fear the worst.
  14. The legend that is Rory Delap has announced his retirement from professional football. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25404610? I will always remember the overhead kick against Spurs. Thats about it
  15. Shaw took part in the recovery session yesterday. I would expect him to be having physio rather than taking part in recovery session if he had a knock or worse.
  16. Not sure if Poch trusts Chambers now. Opted to play JWP at RB when Shaw went off injured rather than bring Chambers on. I really hope Yoshida is nowhere near the team tomorrow. He will be eaten alive by City. Gets caught flat footed and square far too often and easily for my liking.
  17. I wonder how Everton would do if they had injuries to their key players like us? To me they have a very good first choice 11 but like us struggle with strength in depth. If Distin or Jagelka got injured I am sure they would be significantly weakened. Having said that Oviedo hasnt done too badly since replacing Baines.
  18. We could go with davis and cork in the middle tonight to ensure wanyama can play on saturday. Villa midfield is pretty lightweight so cork and davis should at least compete and not get overrun. Osvaldo needs a run of games to get in the groove. This guy is class but has had a stop start time of it with us thus far. I would recall Lambert and play 3 strikers up front. They can all switch positions and pull defenders out of position and look to get in that way. So a midfield 3 of lallana/cork or wanyama/davis. I can see JWP being rested, but the problem with this we will miss his set piece deliveries which are exquisite and always gives you a chance regardless if team plays good or not. No guarantee Lallana will play either if he is still nursing this groin injury. Be interesting to see what Poch goes with.
  19. I dont think sinclair, stephens, turnball and isgrove will progress into 1st team regulars. Rowe looks to have ability but would have thought Poch would have took up to Sunderland if he felt he was ready to make step up Sam Gallagher could me the next Rickie Lambert, he will learn so much from Lambo which could explain his integration into 1st team fold.
  20. The club which incs players, staff and owners believe in "the plan" so why dont some of the fans? The top players have all committed to the club because of the ambition and the objective of getting into the Champions League, there is no doubt about that. Until we are established as a top 6 team we will always struggle to compete on all counts. Once established we then become more of an attraction therefore we can strengthen our squad with the required quality to be competitive in both league and cups. I am 100% behind the club and their objectives/strategy. No reason to doubt there motives given the successes of the last few years Some of you lot need to get real and get with the times
  21. lallana and jrod were on bench against bristol city so expect the same tonight. K Davis Yoshida Fox Chambers Hooiveld S Davis Ramirez Ward-Prowse Cork Isgrove Lee Substitutes Gazzaniga Turnball Stephens Lallana Clyne Reed Rodriguez
  22. Errr one would think with the extra finances and attraction of the CL we would strengthen our squad to compete in both league and CL.
  23. Get with the times buddy. Cortese wants CL football, it is clear from the players and manager this is the goal. Cortese believes Poch and the current squad can achieve this, however playing a full or near full strength side in Capital One Cup is not going to help achieve that. As I previously wrote on this thread it is imperative that the 1st choice players are given adequate time off to rest and recover in between games in order to sustain our high intensity pressing game and keep injuries to a minimum. This is our A game and we need it in every game to have any hope of qualifying for the CL. We may well end up finishing in 7th or 8th but that is not the point. The club have ambition and objectives far greater than this and have a plan in place to achieve it, as fans who are we to question this given the successes of the last few years?
  24. Poch will play mainly bench and u21 players. The way we train (double sessions) and the intensity of our pressing game wont suit playing two games in a week. Rest and recovery is vital to avoid injuries and burn out which the players have commented on in various interviews. I can see perhaps JRod and JWP playing but other than that side will be completely changed. League is the clubs priority as well as developing the youngsters so the cup's are ideal to be used for that purpose.
