6 of the players who started last night also started at Man Utd last week. Hughes wasnt happy with the performance last night so may freshen it up on saturday. Our fitness is key and as long as we play our game like we did at Liverpool and Man Utd then we have great chance of getting 3 points. This game is made for JRod to use his pace and run at the Stoke donkeys. Lambert will have his work cut out against Huth and Shawcross. Osvaldo off the bench is a nice option if things are not going to plan.
-
Osvaldo has stated he is happy, there is nothing from directly which suggests he is unsettled. John Cross writes Osvaldo claims he is unsettled. The only direct quotes from Osvaldo I have seen are from a story posted on skysports website earlier this month where he states he is happy at Southampton. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/8955346/

How long can roy ignore our other English players?

Jeez Cleverley is garbage. Lallana ten times the player. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free -
I think Lambert is a better player than Carroll but I suspect Carroll will end up scoring more goals come end of the season if they both stay fit. Carroll suits WHU direct style, not sure Lambert really suits Pochettino's tactics. Lambert doing a lot of the dog work and not seeing many chances come his way. I would love Rickie to go as the target man option for England, but taking off my Saints tinted glasses England play better when they have mobility upfront and out wide. Having said that great option to have to come off the bench late on if chasing the game. Baines and Townsend do whip in decent crosses and that would suit Rickie. Something he is not getting at Saints. Saints play very narrow which is not helping his game.

SSN: Tony Cascarino 'Saints are my dark horses'

Enlighten mean when this has applied to us this season? Dont think you can say we have battered anyone based on shear pressure applied and chances created. Yes we have a lot of the ball, but most of the time it is not in the dangerous areas. -

Reality check guys! Yes we have started well and are difficult to beat but 11 pts from available 18 pts given the fixtures is probably what Cortese would have expected at least. I think our style is more suited away from home where the opposition will come at us more and leave gaps for us to exploit. At St Marys we lack the guile and conviction to break teams down especially the "lesser" teams who tend to sit back more. Even against Palace it was like we was waiting for them to make a mistake (high pressing game can force oppo into errors granted) rather than us really go at them and cut them open. Dont want to sound negative but feel we need to remain level headed and not get carried away. It is exciting times to be a Saints fan but it doesnt take much for the optimism to go out the window. On the flip side if our attackers start really clicking and cut teams open then we could be the "Dark Horses" no doubt. -
Scrap that comment. November looks ok actually. Hull, stoke and arsenal. Man Utd 19th Oct and chelsea 1st december
-
That was the moment most people expected Adkins to get the bullet so not sure there was anything positive that was taken from that game. I went to the swansea game and that was a typical home game against a "lesser" team. Lacked creativity and conviction. Anyway to your point, 6 points are surely expected and needed given November is our hardest month on paper. Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal I believe.

Would have thought Jrod would have been training still even though he had FIFA promo in London at 4pm. I think the training session was in the morning. So perhaps him and Lallana are injured?
-
doesnt help when the club is so secretive about allocations and how many tickets sold. dont see what there issue is with that.
-
What we need is a vibrant attack on sunday. Jrod and Lallana nice and fresh. Osvaldo getting much needed game time over the last two weeks but not too much so that he is tired. Ramirez only made sub appearance for Uruaguay. I would leave Lambert out as he looked very tired in the second half on tuesday night. With West Ham defenders more known more grit and physicality it is crying out for creative flair and pace rather than the usual one dimensional stuff we play when Lambert is on the field. Not criticising Lambert in anyway just feel we need play with pace and movement otherwise we will play into West Ham's hands. boruc clyne fonte lovren shaw wanyama morgan lallana jrod ramirez osvaldo

Just read a post match quote from MP which says he may look for reinforcements in a couple of areas before window shuts. Haven't seen this anywhere else apart from 4-4-2 http://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/pochettino-insists-cork-not-sale Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free -
Are Jason Dodd and Martin Hunter on borrowed time?
jasoneuelllfanclub replied to jasoneuelllfanclub's topic in The Saints
Why was it a dumb post you clown? If our academy is as good as we say it is then the players promoted to next level should be good enough to make the step up. At the end of the day both teams are conceding a lot of goals and an obscene amount of chances so suggests to me the team tactics are also suffering. -

jasoneuelllfanclub replied to jasoneuelllfanclub's topic in The Saints
Of course the primary goal is for individual players to make the step up to 1st team however it is important for winning mentality and self confidence to aid with player development. Cant be good for any player when there team is getting spanked every week no matter how good that player is. -
Obviously the results have been very poor for both the U18 and U21 teams this season but it is not just the results but also the manner. Both teams shipping goals at an alarming rate and our keepers are working overtime to keep the scores down. Last season both teams were pretty decent. Will Dodd and Hunter be made accountable?

Don't think we will replace puncheon. Isgrove will be given chance to stake a claim for matchday squad. It is CB position we still need reinforcement. If lovren got injured then we are back to square one. Jos not good enough and it is only having shaw at LB covers his mistakes hence why he shows his true form when fox plays. Both useless. Yoshida adequate back up but gets caught square far too often. Fonte ok but only with the class of lovren beside him. If we were to get a CB I would be over the moon but given poch talked up our 4 CB's as all being amazing players then I doubt this will happen unless we sell one of them or get injury.
-
It has been widely reported spurs wAnt lamela and pjanic should bake be sold. If reports are true they met Roma in London on weds to discuss a possible deal. It was also reported Roma discussed osvaldo with saints. Given poch was in London on weds adds further fuel to this story.
-
I have the solution guys. As Martin O'Neil no longer needs his property in Winchester, Osvaldo could move in and therefore be nicely situated between Southampton and London
-
The ultra reliable Alan Nixon says story is untrue.

Written offer in from saints. Nc in Italy on holiday but ready to talk to osvaldo. http://www.alfredopedulla.com/articoli/27138-esclusiva-osvaldo-offerta-scritta-del-southampton

That delap goal was world class. Imagine if that was Gerrard or lampard the media would still be jizzing over it.
-
Sorry but anyone who thinks fox is adequate back up needs there head seeing to. All those who witnessed the WBA massacre at st Mary's will back me up on this. WBA weren't world beaters but in lukaku they used his pace to expose hooiveld and fox. Opposition managers will place focus on exploiting this obvious weakness. If fox and hooiveld play on sat then god help us. Without clyne and shaw we will struggle. Chambers still finding his feet at 1st team level. I was confident of away win but with shaw seemingly out injured that confidence has diminished.
-
Maybe little as 2 weeks or worse case scenario 9 months. Lets wait and see before we start pressing panic button. Although tweets from lovren and isgrove would maybe suggest it is potentially a nasty injury
