This summers dream signing would be??
jasoneuelllfanclub replied to View From The Top's topic in The Saints
We may well break our transfer record but our wage structure will stop us going for established superstars. I dont have a problem with that as there is enough talent out there with out paying stupid wages. Pretty confident Astori will sign, the only issue is that Calgary president is banged up so Nic may have to speed up his negotiation tactics during the prison visits:) -
The thing with spurs is that if you dominate the midfield then lennon and bale will drop deep searching for the ball so they will be in less dangerous areas of the pitch. I wouldnt break up cork/morgan partnership as that is a proven formula on the whole. Bale has played on both wings and through middle this season so we need to have fullbacks with pace imo. So if that means bringing in taggett then so be it (dont know if he is quick). No way will Richardson play. He has even appeared on training gallery pics in recent weeks. i would go with the following --------------Boruc------------------- Clyne Yoshida Fonte Taggett --------Morgan Cork ------------- ---Puncheon Lallana JRod---- ---------------Lambert----------------- Davis played ok against WBA but time to bring in Puncheon as he pairs up well Clyne plus the goals have dried up of late.

Not saying this will happen and have no idea if even possible but what are people's thoughts on loaning back the OX next season? I personally think he would be a great asset and he would benefit from regular football. Quick, strong, good football brain and decent finisher. Can play out wide, in the hole or even up front. The lad is not getting much game time currently and if Arsenal do have the rumoured £70m war chest in the summer then he maybe pushed further down the pecking order.

What an interesting summer we are in for...

The team has done well on the whole obviously. Assuming there is no catastrophic set of results that conspire against us then we will be playing PL football next season which was always the main aim. However I am concerned that most teams will have worked us out next season and deploy tactics to stop us implementing our A game. Steve Clark tactics were spot on. It is clear to me if teams let us have the ball but keep a well drilled shape and line then we really struggle to create any meaningful chances which is maybe why we do better against the top teams or even away from home (of late). So to avoid that second season syndrome we need to invest in quality players that can adapt to change in tactics during a game. Under Adkins and now Pochettino there is seemingly no Plan B especially during games when things are going t1ts up. Didnt help that some of our big guns played awful - Lambert, Lallana, JRod. -
One of those games whereby if we play well then we should win bar giving away silly set piece or a Jos OG. Just hope the team have not only learned from the positives of late but also from our mistakes including that dreadful performance v QPR. No better time to put to bed that theory that we only raise our game for the big clubs. Such a fine line in that if we win we are almost safe but if we lose the team will have to overcome the mental scar of losing to the worst team in the league.

Pace is a great asset if you know what to do with it and and can actually control the ball in full motion. The likes of Danny Wellbeck have abundance of pace but have little control and composure to compliment it. Rickie is very good technically which is definitely something England lack. Talk of Andy Carroll returning to England fold after scoring 2 goals is ridiculous.
-
Puncheon to start ahead of Ramirez with Lallana playing behind Lambert. Shaw will play. Saints need to make out he is touch and go still because he pulled out of england squad.
-
Its a shame he has not featured more because potentially he would be a great outlet for likes of ramirez and lallana whereby they can play balls in behind the defence and exploit his pace. We only have Jrod who can offer this albeit he has good pace not lightening pace.
-
I dont think it would take much of a niggle for him to pull out of the squad. The club will be extremely cautious in letting him join up especially if it is a double header of games like it is this time around. Given how **** Danny Fox is it is completely understandable for Saints to wrap Luke up in cotton wool. Lets hope he is ok for Chelsea game and beyond.

Chelsea win could mean our game postponed....
jasoneuelllfanclub replied to angelman's topic in The Saints
surely this is good news? chelsea have us on the saturday then two days later they play man utd in cup replay. they will play a "weakened" team against us. -
Reading away ticket details - Sold Out

villa were allocated 2,300 last week so I assume we will get the same. -
We must revert back to the Fonte/Yoshia pairing with shaw and clyne at fullback. Be a disaster waiting to happen if big clumsy Jos comes up against Sturridge and Suarez. He will add to his OG tally and give away a pen guaranteed boruc clyne fonte yoshida shaw morgan cork puncheon ramirez or lallana jrod lambert

Chelsea win could mean our game postponed....
jasoneuelllfanclub replied to angelman's topic in The Saints
on one hand if game is postponed then it gives us extra week off after International break to prepare for Reading game which is massive. Also when we play chelsea they will be in middle of fixture pile up which in theory could work in our favour. on the other hand we are usually crap after a fixture break, we struggle to raise tempo and look rusty which would be bad news given our A game is all about high intensity pressing. -
Kingsland stand looks huge.
-
our form is poor and is obviously a concern but there is hope as we have been playing pretty well majority of the time. reading are down, 5 defeats on the spin, not playing well and have man utd and arsenal up next. if wigan play like they did at everton they have a good chance of staying up but there inconsistency means they struggle to gain momentum. will have to wait and see if cup run impact sthem in a negative way. villa are good going forward but extremely shaky at the back but have a favourable run in. QPR seem to be having a lot of fortune at the moment, I wouldnt say they are playing that well, scrappy if anything, just other teams are imploding against them (us and sunderland). however looking at there next 6 games they are all winnable on paper. They could have enough points in the bag to stay up before there last 3 games which are tricky. i think we need at least 3 points from liverpool and chelsea otherwise we could be in the bottom 3 which could really dent our confidence make those remaining winnable games even harder. not going to predict other than reading to go down as it is way too close to call.
-
yoshida in clip, no sign of morgan but only 6 or so players in clip.
-
all depends on our midfield line up. if morgan plays then confident of a win but if not and davis is out as well then i fear the worst. jrod has too start as well.
-
if morgan and davis out injured then our midfield will be severely weakened. CM options would be JWP, Guly, Lallana, Ramirez or Chaplow. I would personally go for Lallana. Ramirez is to much of a risk in that position as he has tendency to give the ball away a lot. my 2-0 win prediction will change should morgan and davis be out injured:(
-
i have a gut feeling for a 2-0 win. i also had a gut feeling we would lose against QPR so hopefully my gut instinct proves correct again. however if we play lallana, puncheon and ramirez behind lambert we wont win. need jrod in there to offer pace and make those runs into the channel to free up lambert. boruc clyne fonte yoshida shaw cork morgan puncheon lallana jrod lambert subs - davis, richardson, forren, davis, ramirez, rowe, mayuka
-
both are very good players individually however I am not convinced they can both be accommodated in the same team. They are luxury players and require freedom to express themselves which can be to the detriment of the team especially if both of them play. they would probably benefit from having a fast striker up top as they dont have the pace to go beyond lambert and get in behind the defence therefore they are restricted by lamberts style of play. this is exactly why we are far too predictable and pedestrian like when we play 3 attacking midfielders behind lambert. lallana, puncheon, ramirez and davis do not have the pace to get behind the defence so everything in played in front of lambert and it is a lot easier to defend against. QPR, swansea and sunderland home were prime example of this. i actually think jrod gives us a lot more variety and options when on the attack. he makes striker like runs and has the pace to get behind the defence which actually gives lambert more space and time. it is no coincidence that we create far more good chances when jrod plays.
-
Luke Shaw @Luke_shaw3 Literally no point In having a phone on the train #noconnection seems like Luke is on his way back to kingston. i was under the impression he stayed in southampton unless it is a day off next day. even if he was injured I would expect him to be at sms to watch the game so maybe he will be back down tomorrow morning.
-
I would keep with jrod as he makes good runs and stretches defences to become more open therefore we tend to create more clear cut chances. When we play 3 attacking midfielders behind lambert we seem to create less chances. QPR have been stubborn in defence prior to samba signing but have been more open of late due his lack of fitness and departure of nelson. I think Puncheon out right and Lallana in the hole with Jrod out left will offer enough variation in our attacks to carve them open. good options on the bench if things are not going to plan with likes of ramirez and mayuka.
-
got a bad feeling about this. i can see us missing a lot of chances and them nicking a goal through remy. i dont know why because they are ****e and we are playing well but have this nagging feeling saggychops is going to rob us.
-
I think we should bring puncheon back for this one and leave davis out. he has done nothing wrong but I want to see Jrod stay in the team on the basis that we carry more of a goal threat with him in the side for some reason. i think lambert benefits from having another striker (albeit out wide) making runs which draws the defenders away. its funny because with 3 out and out creative players behind lambert we sometimes struggled to create clear cut chances. i just think Jrod gives us that extra body with an eye for goal in the box. boruc clyne fonte yoshida shaw cork morgan puncheon lallana Jrod lambert subs davis fox forren davis ramirez mayuka jwp
