I think the likes of Hooiveld, De Ridder and possible Chaplow will be loaned out in January. Chaplow is out of contract in June so he may well be given a free transfer earlier. I am hopeful NA,NC and LR are actively working on transfers now so we can hit the ground running at the start of January rather than leaving it until end of the window and risk being cut a drift especially if we get injuries to key players which is pretty much the starting 11 based on the lack of quality on the bench and in squad. I would like to see a CB, LB, DM, and Winger (left).

Yep, this kit has been a disaster. Love the home kit though:)

If we revert to 442 I will be more nervous our chances of winning however not sure we have adequate replacement for ramirez. He could put lallana in that role and bring in mayuka to play on the right with JP switching to the left. Davis has good shot on him but not sure he has the craft to play that role. 442 more likely I think with jayrod coming in.

Thanks for the information however you need to take forums with a pinch of salt. It is just human nature to want to know more and be nosey. Hardly think Ramirez or any other player for that matter will give a dam what is being speculated on a fans forum. When there is a chance our best player (arguably) will miss a crucial game then it is only natural for fans to get anxious and want to know what is happening.

Julius Duncan has been appointed as a Senior Director of Communications with him commencing this role in January. Will head up the Media relations both domestically and globally. http://www.prweek.com/uk/news/1163225/southampton-football-club-hires-julius-duncan-head-comms/?

I was there @ burden park wen MLT scored in crucial 1-0 win only to then learn other relegation rival probably coventry got a win or draw somewhere so we wasn't quite safe. Just remember going from ecstasy to feeling deflated.

You have been ridiculed for this post but I think you are not far off tbf. there seems to be a perception on here that liverpool are streets ahead of us in terms of quality. they are a mid table team as proven by there 8th place finish last season and current position this season. they are undeniably still a massive club in terms of fan base and history but they have been in decline since finishing 2nd in 08/09 season. I do actually think they will beat us but it will be a competitive game, probably just a single goal being the difference in it. we have 3-4 players that would almost certainly improve them being lambert, ramirez, lallana and even shaw. enrique is gash to the point even their version of Guly Do Prado (Downing) has played at leftback in front of him previously.

Just so I am clear; I get the impression you dont rate Gazziniga?

Reina is a hasbeen, just ask most liverpool fans. Clyne and Shaw would not look out of place in liverpool's team. Agger and Skrtel can be dodgy but on the whole pretty solid and better than our CB's. Gerrard was wasteful in possession against spurs but will most likely have a blinder tomorrow. Think Shelvey and Sahin will come in for henderson and downing. Joe Allen is seriously overated. i think our midfield of cork and morgan on top form will be a match for them. Suarez is a wonderful player and is carrying them big style. will be a major threat tomorrow and the one player to keep quiet. Quartet of lallana, puncheon, ramirez and lambert will give any team a decent challenge. so in summary keep suarez quiet, stop sterling and Johnson having to much room down the flanks and dont give garrard time on the ball.

Agree with you. fans like to have a scapegoat. of course he should have done better with swansea/qpr/norwich goals but he has made some good saves in those games as well. the save from santon was out of this world. i would keep with gazza until january and then sign decent experienced keeper and use gazza as #2. davis and boruc not good enough and like gazza have calamities in their armour.

I agree with the OP this seasons home kit is the nuts. I also really liked the blue flamed away shirt. The worst kit imo has to be the pony kits. just the shirt sponsor name was embarrassing enough let alone the design.

Not sure if your trying to be funny or not but weather is fine on sunday. game will go ahead.

Newcastle played at home last night. take your point though, we could ask for better time to play them. Just hope we dont become complacent as they still have decent players upfront.
-
no coincidence that our shape and protection of the back four has improved since cork has come into the team. davis did well @ QPR when playing in more advanced role. cork was also very vocal during the swansea game ensuring the team maintained their shape and discipline.

You must have been a joy to be sat next to. Come on pal enjoy the moment no one said we are perfect. We will improve.

Tony Fernandes has tweeted saying this game is must win for them. Obvious I know but the fact he has gone public puts Hughes and the players under even more pressure. we will have to wait and see if this has positive effect on them or not. We got to cut out errors. One error cost us and we got to take our chances. Team played as planned. Must win next win. No panic. Table is compressed. Defense was awful now fairly solid. Midfield strong. Got to score now. I think Hughes will be fired lose or draw and Adkins will go if we lose. The pressure on both teams will make this an ugly spectacle but nonetheless a truly massive game.

Agree with you albeit I do find you slightly annoying at times but you are harmless enough and in general post informative stuff. Until the mods ban the usual suspects then this forum will keep losing credibility. The love-in between 3 of the main culprits is really sad. Back to thread I think shaw will start also and look forward to him and clyne getting down to the byline and whipping some teasing crosses in.
-
i actually think tomorrow's game will give us a strong indication on where our season will go. lose against a makeshift defence that includes Gary Monk then I think any little confidence we had will have been evapporated yet should we win then this can galvanise our season and we can go to QPR with much greater self-belief. I predict a 2-0 win for saints with lambert running rings around Monk. I hope Mayuka plays in place of JRod so Ramirez can play those through balls as the Swansea defense is almightly slow with Monk and Williams.

do you know what he said? if so care to share this?

Cortesi trusts Adkins and even likes him according to Ben Smith @ BBC Sport http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20237630 I feel so much more reassured now

Morale...has Gastons pay package had an affect?
jasoneuelllfanclub replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
he is not on 60k. around about 40k which is standard rate for a quality player at mid/lower table teams. i recall adkins describing him as a "world class"talent when we signed him so on that basis the other players should be grateful we got a player of that quality on a comparatively low wage. just think joe cole is on £600 per hour. -
Gordon watson aka flash has tweeted saying adkins defo in charge for swansea game.
