I stand by my statement. Reading signings are average. If Guthrie was good enough newcastle would have kept him. I can honestly say I would take our signings over there's any day of the week. Jay Rod will score more goals than Pog this season imo. I really fancy Reading, Swansea and Wigan for the drop.

we have bought quality compared to our rivals such as reading. we are a newly promoted team so players will be mindful of our chances of remaining in the PL. We have enough quality to stay up as long as we sign a decent CB with a little bit of pace. if we stay up then next season will be a lot easier to attract "big name" targets.

i wonder if the chelsea interest in shaw made us re think on our approach for buttner. maybe shaw was interested in going but saints have since given him certain assurances regarding 1st team opportunities hence us cooling on buttner. i dont think it is a real loss because shaw can play the attacking full back/wing back role in any case plus no one had heard of buttner prior to his link with us.

I can argue with that. Whilst we have only signed 2 players (3 very soon) you cannot doubt the quality of them. Anyone would think we only have 6 weeks of the transfer window left

Its the teams that rush through transfers that are more likely to over pay on transfer fees, signing on fees, agents fees and player wages. The art of business is to negotiate, stand your ground and serve right by your employer. some we lose (and we have definitely missed on targets in the past) and some we gain. Surely the ones we gain are the worthwhile ones as the player see's past just the money on offer and wants to be climb aboard the bus. i as a supporter much rather we sign 4 quality players who have bought into the vision and ambition of the club rather than sign 6-7 players who are after a big pay day.

what about ryo miyaichi? he was on loan at bolton last season and made a good impression. nixon has close contacts at bolton and player has been linked to saints before which nixon never deined when questioned. Just said bolton had 1st refusal.

nixon says the player has had a mention previously, so we can now narrow it down to about 100 players lol its not schmichael because nixon says this player is good and he has previously tweeted saying he doubts KS is prem quality. my wishful thinking is zaha, ince or phillips.

actually the ones that do ask journo's questions normally get more out of them. take the graeme bailey @ sky tweet for example. he would not have tweeted about saints lining up a "very exciting deal" had the person not asked them about any saints news. ok we are none the wiser to the player identity and whether or not the deal is still a live but it does give us fans something to speculate about. yes the ones that send personal messages to potential targets are going a bit too far however from what I can tell buttner has been happy to reply. if he wasnt then he would not reply. twitter is a great tool for fans as long as it is used sensibly and people are respectful of others.
