finally a sensible post. maybe turkish and kracken can learn from you. the fact is saints are currently in a envious position in that we have a positive mentality at the club, ambitious manager and chairman (who may or may not get on), great stadium with expansion potential, financial muscle to evolve the squad, a large fan base and a soon to be world class training facilities. i challenged posters to name more than 5 clubs adkins would consider leaving us for based on CURRENT status of clubs. Some listed Villa and Everton. 100% convinced adkins wouldnt leave us for villa as they have no money to spend and have a very volatile fan base. everton are a big club with huge tradition and history similar to villa however they have no real money either. pound for pound moyes probably best manager in the PL and he has taken everton as far as he can so as great as adkins is I dont think realistically he could take everton any further based on current situation at everton. anyway all irrelevant for the liverpool debate as they will go for "big name" not an up and coming manager who happens to support the club.

Villa have no money. Lerner wants to bring youth players through. There squad is poo as proven by their league position. There is only a few clubs he would contemplate leaving us for given the right time and terms and villa aren't one of them. Liverpool will go for exp top level manager so no worries on that front.

Yep he was on my wish list since we won promotion along with matt phillips. These two along with jay rod, curtis davies plus a decent right back would be grand.

Brilliant nite of entertainment. Graham poll was hilarious and spoke very well. Lord mcwinney (whatever his name is) was awful, speech was painstakingly boring. Although both did say the club is going places. LM praised cortesi basically saying we have best man possible in charge of club. it was surreal to hear these people say saints are going to the top, it was the confidence in which they said it which I found frightening but in a good way.

doesn't guarantee them to be a decent footballer though. Antonio and Papa Waigo had immense pace but rarely did anything constructive with it with the latter being needlessly offside majority of the time . I take your point though we defo need more pace but with end product as well. From what I seen Matt Phillips would be good but like with most wingers he can be a bit inconsistent. Finding a winger with pace who regularly supplies decent service will cost us big bucks.

At the end of the day most clubs will use the Media to their advantage and vice versa. Difference being saints dont let the Media in openly so the press have their nose put out of joint and start spitting their dummy out. You only need the Media if you are desperate and/or have an ulterior motive. Turkish seems to always go against popular opinion yet has little substance to back up his argument. Fact is we have been successful since Cortesi took charge and the media coverage has pretty much been football related and majority of it has been positive so his stance on Media inclusion/exclusion appears to be working.

I am not in the opinion that being buddies with the press gets you anywhere. All it does it allows for stories to get leaked out before they are intended to plus people can become distracted. Take Harry Redknapp for example he is pals with majority of the press and because of this it has had detrimental effect on Spurs results in recents weeks and months as the press have hounded him over the england job. just think he spends a lot of his day travelling from poole to london then finds time for his friends in the media so no wonder spurs have been on the slide. Saints are focussed and use the media when they see fit. We control the media not the other way around which is the way it should be.

to be he looked well of the pace and dis-interested. i will be surprised if he isnt moved on in the summer. if blackpool fail to get promoted a swap deal with matt phillips would be ideal.

We should definitely emulate Swansea and Norwich as they both have a good up and coming British manager and kept core spine of the team. I truly believe with 3-4 quality additions to the squad we can have a successful season. The true test for newly promoted teams is the 2nd season as teams will have worked them out. This is why I fancy Swansea to go down next season but Norwich should have another variety about them to stay up plus there is almost certainly going to be 3 teams worse than them. There will be at least 10 teams in the premiership that Saints should not have any fear of playing next season home or away.

Put it this way Window Cleaner their defence has combined career appearances of 311 of which Cranie has 189 of them. They are going to be up against Lambert, Sharp, Lallana and most likely Guly who between them have over 1200 career apps.

Coventry defence will likely consist of Hussey (22) and Clarke (22) at fullback positions with Willis (17) and Craine (24) at centre back. So obviously very inexperienced at the back which hopefully Lambert, sharp, Lallana and Guly will take advantage of. Actually on paper they look to carry a threat upfront with Platt and McDonald with Platt being good in the air. McSheffrey has a good delivery so we shouldn't give away needless set pieces. The young lad Bigirimana in midfield won young player of the year in the NPC so obviously has talent. If we control the middle of the park and keep them on the back foot we should have enough fire power to win.

I agree. I think Hammond is more likely to score than Cork albeit only has 1 goal to his name this season. Butterfield and Guly combo wouldn't work imo so if he goes with Guly I fully expect Frazer to play at RB assuming he is fit.
