I'd be ****ting myself if I was them. 8 games left, 5 away only 3 at home. It's quite a tight league and nearly everyone is playing for something at the moment, although that might not be the case as the season draws to a close. They have to go to Rochdale who are going for the league, they have a couple of tough away games away against relegation rivals Northampton and Bury and Bristol Rovers at home. The other games are against play-off hopefuls with the exception of Newport. The teams they have to play are 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 9th, 10th, 13th 18th and 22nd in the form table, so just about skewed to teams that are playing well. The big issue is that they are playing so badly, the fans want the manager out and they cant' score goals. For those that got good odds on them going down, I would't be cashing out just yet! I think if they go down I would finally be happy that they have got what they deserve. Bragging rights for a generation or more and potentially, my kids wont know Pompey as a rival, which in all truth would be a shame. I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy laughing at them in the conference, perhaps it would be better if they stayed up on the last day of the season?

If he's a proper Newcastle fan he wont be wearing any shirt.

.... if you consider it a mistake...........

Really good, we have a play 5 in the kitchen/diner and a connect in the lounge plugged into our amp. Add in a spotify account and you are set for music. Not sure what troubles you are having Goatboy - do you only stream internet music? I'd certainly recommend it.

It's just that tiny glimmer of hope, however small, that something might change if you speak up if you don't like something. If i don't comment, I can't complain when this place eventually disappears up its own arse. It's like the butterfly effect, one person might read my post and think, yeah that's about right and they might challenge one of the clowns and so it carrys on and before we know it the mods realise that the £5s are drying up and the curry night is cancelled. Who knows where it will go? Thanks for your input though. Good to keep the issue on the table so to speak. Cheers.

Are people being deliberately obtuse or genuinely not understanding this? What with the massive over reaction to yesterday's result, the proliferation of the forum ass holes derailing every thread, and my favorite - a facebook page detailing the contract details of people at the club! This place has reached a new low. Shame.

86th minute, 1-0 up away from home and both full backs involved in an attack - love it!

Be fair, first game back after a long lay off. Pretty tepid affair so far, Shaw getting forward well and that's about it. Take 0-0 at half time and push on in the second half.

15 seems quite long to me, I can't imagine she makes much money. She should reduce that to a reasonable length, say 3 or 4.

Fair enough, that's your position, and I have stated mine (but just for the record I would consider 2 threads "multiple"). Just out of curiosity, and it's a genuine question, is the £750 a threshold set by the charity for you to get a "free" place in the event? (by free I assume that charity pays for the entry but you probably pay a similar amount as a donation yourself and I acknowledge the effort that goes into an event like this.) -

I have no problem with people raising money for charity. Start a thread, make your request and hope for the best, thank people for the donations. Don't call people arseholes if they won't donate and don't post it on multiple threads. It's a surefire way to undermine the efforts of other well intentioned fund raisers. My second point was a bit off topic and reflects my opinion, which is valid but perhaps not the correct thread. -

This just sums up the very worst of the modern look at me fund raiser. If it's such a worthy cause why wait until some nobody on a football forum begs for money before giving over your cash? -
CORTESE - a personal and factual view of why Ms Liebherr was right.
stug76 replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
I agree with St Marco, it's not a good article. Cortese has changed everything about the club, he is responsible for our rise from league 1. I have only had one dealing with him, I supplied some items at St Mary's on the refurb and my total invoice was about £600 over 2 invoices and I know that Cortese himself had to sign off on the design of what we supplied - and these were probably the most insignificant items that went in to the whole project (very well made though ;-) ). He was the man driving our success. I suspect he has returned a healthy profit on the original too. A lot of Chairman will have had 5 year plans and I doubt that many will have been so ambitious. Many will have failed, and some will have lowered their expectation, but only a few will have achieved what they set out to do. Southampton have been THE success story over the last 5 years, It's been wonderful to be a fan, certainly the best time in my 40+ years. They guy isn't without his faults, certainly, but to suggest that he was only a middle man and all the credit should be applied to the owners a and managers is clearly way off the mark. -

You seem a bit bitter. Like all these stories, we only get one side, I suspect that there are other facts that we will never hear, so have to make assumptions/allowances which brings me to my conclusion that you aren't objective and your opinion is largely devalued. -
So if a journalist asks a Saints player if the club could reach the Champions League, they should answer "no" or refuse to answer in case some of our fans strangely get annoyed by it. I doubt it was Rodriguez who bought the subject up...
-
You really do talk a lot of ****. "Certain folk"..."Saints fans are now desperate"... why do you feel the need to set up some sort of devils's advocate position against an imaginary collective opinion? You remind me a lot of another poster. 8 million would be good business for Saints, however only if we can improve the squad with the money. You only have to look at recent results, even though the performances have been pretty good, the lack of squad depth is a worry and its going to take a few years of continual improvement to get to a stage where we can compete for European places. I don't think it's worth selling him without another option, so if it does happen, it will probably be at the end of the window when we've had time to sort something out.

Nearly? I think its been a great season so far. I loved mixing it with the big boys and going to arsenal challenging for the top spot. Even recently I think we've been subject to some extreme circumstances and can hold our head high. Villa, Sunderland Spurs and Norwich were disappointing but that's going to happen. I've a real belief that with about 3 1st team signings (CB?, AM? FULLBACK?) we could mount a European challenge. It's happening baby!

1 down......

If it was in reaction to the incident where we were trying to attack and Pardew threw the ball away from our player, he was behaving like a ****** and got the song he deserved.
-
Let's try that theory
-
Just had a quick look - didn't really happen that way did it? A couple of people, no names, let's call them ****ish and Fry Man, just reverted to talking absolute ****. It happens a lot round here, surprised you haven't noticed it.
-
Could have been an interesting thread, but descended into childish nonsense yet again by the usual suspects. FFS, have all the mods disappeared???
-
What a load of idiots, arguably our fans come off worse looking at that. That guy who spat at the Pompey fan whilst he was being restrained should get a lengthy ban.
-
There was talk of him leaving before the season started - Linked to Arsenal. If he does want out he won't be going to another Champions League club so if he is in doubt of making the World Cup squad he needs a team. I could see him leaving Spain given that he's been at Real for his whole career so we would be a reasonable option for him. Not saying it would happen, but it's not "that" unreasonable. Question is, do we want him? How long is Boruc out for? Can't see us having those two fighting it out for top spot.
