  1. No conspiracy theory, but a genuinely interesting phenomanon & not a great advert for using tv replays to settle disputes.
  2. Look at it on i-player & look at Harding's reaction. It's weird, but it definitely goes behind, hits the stanchion & comes back into play. No wind-up, I promise.
  3. Just to get this thread back on topic - I have just watched it on the iplayer with my son and it definitely hits the stanchion (note spelling, pedants) behind the goal. Freeze framed it twice with the ball well behind the by-line. Watch Harding's reaction - he sort of knows it's out and then, as know one else responds he carries on. We have actually had a shocking decision against us in all three games (pen v Leeds & Chaplow clearly winning the ball v Barnsley & now this), but luckily it hasn't mattered.
  4. He'll turn up at Nottarf Krap, best place for him. Yesterday's hero.
  5. There was and our crowds were still way bigger than yours. Next argument please!
  6. 18925 H Birmingham City 17454 H Watford 17812 H Wolverhampton Wdrs 26580 H Nottingham Forest 20142 H Reading 17623 H Swansea City 18526 H Cardiff City 17567 H Derby County 18691 H Queens Park Rangers 27228 H Charlton Athletic 23220 H Crystal Palace 23927 H Burnley Also from the same season, you tw0t. Second home game against a local team bringing good support and you just beat our worst ever gate at SMS for a league game. That is how it is at a different level
  7. Though the threat of 'Tonight you sleep with the fishes' might not sound quite as menacing down there.
  8. I like that phrase & it sums them up perfectly. And Benjani definitely fits that category.
  9. 16,500 for the first home game & a local derby too. (Only 10000 less than we got for a Tuesday night game last November.) Bestest fans in the world.
  10. I think Cloterill thinks you don't have a youth team
  11. From Skate News... 62spencerc Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 02:06 PM There are still 4000 tickets going for the Brighton game. Come on where are all the fans nowwe need them????????? So much to best fans in the land. Big local derby, first home league game under new regime, bestest fans in the world.......
  12. We've now got more players called Dan than they can put on their bench
  13. Irrelevant fact for the day - Ruddock ws the old name for a Robin. It goes downhill from here - Youssef Safari & Ulrich van Gobbel the turkey I'll get me coat
  14. I actually think we should have two threads, one for those who were there and one for those that weren't. Especially for away games I only bother to read the 'Just back from the match thread' for some insight. The rest of us are just happy or grumpy.
  15. The other thing to remember is he was playing on his 'wrong' side, which is why he looked uncomfortable on the ball a couple of times or played it safe. After a nervy start I thought he grew and grew through the game. Penalty was a ludicrously bad decision.
  16. What a mean-spirited & miserable, cheap little outfit they are. Could you imagine us with, say, Eastleigh in similar circumstances under any of our previous regimes, never mind now, being so mean? Says all you need to know about them, really.
  17. To be fair, with the bullsh1t-filter on, there is a grain of truth in what he says, and he does 'get it' that all was not right. Incidentally, Ho, what do you suppose our wage/turnover ratio was last season, and how did you reach the figure you suggest you know? Genuinely interested.
  18. Don't you just love Skate history lessons.... The world financial crisis may well have been in October 2008, but Poopey's problems didn't start till a year later when Gaydamak senior - the one with the money - had his financial assets frozen by a French court. (Even Storrie admitted this.) As soon as the child-maimer no longer had dirty cash to launder the chickens came home to roost. Not a co-incidence, a fact. No more dirty money, no more 'glory'.
  19. I used to think that pfc123 was a borderline okay skate, but if he truly cannot see the difference between the way we went into admin and the way they did, well he has the morality of a genuine Poopey fan through and through. Trying to explain to him is like trying to lecture the dog on the folly of chasing cats. It's in his blood and he is too dim to understand. At least Corps and one or two others 'get it', and I used to think this guy was just on a wind-up, but I'm not so sure any more.
  20. Looking at the picture of him, I wouldn't want to be in Clotterill's shoes when he has to start explaining why they couldn't beat Doncaster at home!
  21. Exactly. If you had a £100k mortgage with Aviva, you would pay approximately £200k back over 25 years. If it is paid off in full early you are not cheating them out of half their money. They will merely take your money & loan it out again.
  22. There aren't too many of the Skate squad that you'd pick ahead of our second 11, never mind the first!
  23. He seems to be the sort of player we want, youngish, coming into his prime & with a bit to prove. This is definitely building in a quiet, discreet way for the Prem. Opposite of Leicester. Whether it all comes off remains to be seen, but totally respect the approach.
  24. It's why I love football less than I used to. I know our best players will always leave, but not that many years ago Bridgey stayed till he was 23 or 24. Now players move on at 17. It is farcical & wrong. For every Gareth Bale there are dozens of bright youg lads signed for £1mill plus that disappear into the big clubs' reserves for three or four years & many never resurface or spend years out on loan (think Jack Cork). I understand that money talks & it is very hard for any youngster to turn down lottery-winning sums of money that could make their whole family secure for life. But that does not make it right from a competitive sport's point of view, or for ours as long-suffering fans. Football has become so consumed in money & business that it is forgetting what the point of it actually is.
