A substitute has scored in each of the last 5 games (and a different player each time) - surely some sort of record

I think you'll find we're pedants, not pedantics........

Corpy.... 2. The "grubby little bank Snoras". You mean the one that won a " Intyernational Region Bank of the year" award from The Banker magazine that's the most respected international financial publication? That grubby little bank? Does he just make this up because he knows that no-one else is sad enough to find proof? I certainly can't be Rsed. Proove it Corpy.

Can I ask what is the flipping point is of having a poll in which people who didn't actually watch the game have a vote? Meaningless and bizarre are two words that spring to mind.

This is my feeling, too. They obviously had some cash to spend, but poor old Clotterrill has clearly had his hands tied in the transfer market, especially once he'd blown his 'quality over quantity' allowance. January will be interesting if they are miles off the play-offs and with the CVA start looming.

He wasn't fully fit at the start of last season and the whole team suffered because he is such an influential figure. Like all the best central midfielders, everything about the team works when he is on song and you don't notice him, if he's missing/struggling then the whole team is out of kilter and nobody can work out why. I know Pardew signed him, but he is very much an Adkins type of player. He is an excellent player with seemingly an excellent and infectious attitude and signing him up again is great news.

Lessons I learnt last night - 1 Forte is no centre forward 2 It is a worry that we have no ready made replacement for Ricky should the unthinkable happen 3 Just how good is Lallana 4 Reeves made a really good debut & could play the 'Connolly' role 5 It was unfair on him & Forte, because both would have looked better for Sir Ricky's presence 6 Martin could step into our back four at any time without looking out of place. He looked assured on the ball, commanding & more physically developed than a year ago. for someone playiong non-league not long ago, he really looks like he the potential to a long way 7 I thought Dickson was okay, but he, Holmes & De Ridder all seemed to be trying 'too hard' and didn't have the confidence that those in the team have - RD by being too ambitious, LH by always taking an extra touch & SDR by trying to do the wonder shot/pass, not the easy thing 8 Bart is not going to displace KD any time soon on that showing 9 Preston must be p**d off to have let Chaplow go for nothing 10 Overall, stick a half decent centre forward in that team & it would be good enough to beat a lot of teams in the CCC.

Quote from Skate Snooze - He (Cotterill) said: ‘We seem to be getting punished for every wrongdoing at the moment'. They just don't get it do they. So many years of cheating has rotted what little moral core they ever had, and all tey do is feel sorry for themselves & feel picked on when they are caught out. It runs right through the club from top to bottom.
-
I would say he did more than alright yesterday, and happy on the ball, too, so he can play 'our' way. Looked very comfortable with Jose.

I thought we were excellent today alround, & nobody deserved less than an 8. I thought Hooiveld looked very solid & he and Fonte looked like they had played two years together, not two games. Cork must be the bargain of the season, Hammond looks totally at ease in this league and Connolly was so good at creating space for others that he deserved a goal for his tireless efforts. Basically we just passed Brum to death today. Sometimes it looks a bit aimless and frustrates me when we end up back where we started, but when it works & suddenly space opens up we are unplayable. It's effing good being a Saints fan at the moment.

Fair point - nasty owners So, Nasty club, nasty manager, nasty stadium, nasty squad, nasty fans, nasty owners..... Have we missed any?
-
Sorry to be picky, but you missed out the fans.... nasty fans There, that feels neater.
-
Like Mills he never got a fair crack at Saints. Another one overlooked repeatedly for aging failures. Right to go - wrong club in Skates, but they were Prem at the time.

Part of the trouble was our set up. Fox was being dragged inside and a lot of their best play down his side came from Gunter (the lb) who impressed me pushing on with purpose into a big space. I don't know whether Lallana let him go or what it was, but hard for a fb to defend against someone running from deep (Bridge or Bale anyone?) Overall I thought he was okay and will get better. A tough start in a reshuffled back four 7/10

18 bookings in 6 league games against our 5. DFCSBs

This small creditor thing is a bit irrelevant really. It was done as a PR puff, like offering to pay off the charities. It didn't significantly affect the voting, as they've noted it was a 'woolly' promise, and now neither party feels like putting his hand in his pocket. (I can see some issue with the distorting effect this promise might have - any creditor under £10,000 & maybe more, might consider it worthwhile to claim the £2500 & get paid off now, rather than wait.) I don't think it has any impact on the CVA & if it did someone would cough up as the sum involved is relatively modest - only a few weeks wages for Ben Haim. What it does show, yet again, is the absence of any sort of morality & decency in those in charge of the club, including the likes of Lampitt.
-
It's not the same as the CVA - it was a gesture, not legally binding in any way. So legally they are in the clear, but morally... let's not waste our time on that one

St Mary's prayer

I genuinely do not believe that very many, if any, fans were talking of taking legal action or calling it an outrage as I recall - cue Corpy trawling back through 2 years and more of posts to find one person saying just that - but we were p1ssed off about it, because of the huge consequences, and would have taken the loophole if offered. But the vast majority took it on the chin and moved on. You did effectively 'get away with it' on the points deduction because you were going down anyway, so it had no impact really.
-
Can we ban Corpy. He's starting to remind me of Stanley who used to post on the main board. He is so long-winded, pedantic and frankly boring that he is starting to spoil the enjoyment of this thread. Please, everyone, ignore him, don't rise to his nit-picking, his deliberate refusal to accept the undeniable. You can't win an argument with him, he'll devote hundreds of words to prove you weren't 100% factually accurate on some minor point rather than address the real issue. Not only is he a WUM, but he wums in such a way that you have to pore through hundreds of words to try to find a) what the feck he's on about, and b) whether it is actually worth contesting yet another of his bonkers assertion. Life is too short to waste it on him. Basically you have to accept he is mental and it is pointless engaging with him. (And thank God he's too tight to post more than three times a day!)
-
First time Corpy has made me laugh out loud. I think if someone boycotts the club for twenty or thirty years because of the various chairmen they are trying to say that they are not really fans at all. My wife has boycotted the Saints for at least thirty years - possibly she hated our chairmen , or perhaps she just doesn't like football.
-
Is it just me or does your heart sink when he comes on here, cluesslessly nit-picking to try to justify some arcane point. I have actually, after avidly reading 800+ pages odd, reached the point where, when I see he is posting again, that I skip the whole section, replies and all.

What trust?

A real signal of intent to get a lad that talented signed up again. I think the likes of he and Adam were overlooked a bit in League One. If we carry on as we are in the Championship they are going to get seriously noticed & their values will soar.
