  1. From the Guardian: But the club's 2008 accounts, signed off by Grant Thornton's Southampton office on 27 February last year, contained no qualifications about the club's financial situation.... Come in agent Grant, your work is done.
  2. Twelve pounds fifty
  3. Love it. He certainly sounds like crook, too...
  4. What does that mean?
  5. Every time I read about them one word comes to my mind - cheats
  6. To be honest when the bunch of charlatans and spivs that claim to own the club get their come-uppance, and your recents successes are viewed as they should be - the dishonestly garnered rewards of cheating - and most of you have put your Poopey shirts back in the loft and gone off to buy the new Chelsea kit, I really couldn't care less what rises in its stead or how you chose to think of it. It will be a private matter of no interest to anyone outside of Portsea Island
  7. Sadly I can't argue with that last fact, but those other middling teams from medium-sized towns/cities have struggled to get back in the league & you don't have to go back money years to find attendances under 8000 so it could bea long haul
  8. Over-optimism is a terrible thing - one to two k I think he meant Actually 5-6k in the Conference is probably realistic considering your fanbase last time you were in the lower reaches. You'd be on a par with Luton & Oxford, maybe just above the likes of Cambridge, York, Wrexham & Mansfield. There are plenty of formerly well-established league teams in the Conference. (In fact I'm pretty certain I have seen us play Luton & Oxford in the old first division & the others in the old second division, so Poopey wouldn't sit that out of place amongst them.)
  9. I think you misunderstand how business is done in Fantasy Skateland. You pay now & get the goods in August (possibly)
  10. quack soton are rubbish This is what those of us living on the dark side have to endure - leave your computer unattended for 5 minutes and the skaty things creep and slither out of the cracks and onto the keyboard. And that was after I took my stick over Saturday like the gent I am
  11. i am a ****
  12. I know this bloke who wants to buy the forum for huge money, 10000 free posts for everyone, land of milk & honey, honest. His name is Suleiman Al-Forum - he's always loved this forum, got the shirt and all. Just tip me the wink & a few quid in exes and we'll be there.
  13. It might be that they would fancy a chunk of advanced money, too.
  14. Personally I have always had one huge, huge worry with KD - his inability to dominate the 6 yard box. He is as good a shot-stopper as I've ever seen, but he reminds me of another great shot-stopper - Paul Jones, who had the same fatal flaw. The number of goals he concedes from headers in the six-yard box (ie our last two away draws) is far too high. Any ball in that area is always a lottery and the goalkeeper should have a huge advantage over everyone else in that situation. Also, by not coming out and dominating, it allows the opposition to cross nearer to the goal and forces the defence to hold a deeper line, inviting more pressure. Seeing your keeper flying out to catch the ball on the penalty spot immediately relieves the pressure and discourages the opposition from crossing.
  15. How much proof do you need?
  16. Many other creditors paid off only on the day of the WUO, others withholding services etc, 20+ CCJs, apparently, dozens of local businesses praying they pay but not wanting to be the one to push them over the edge, Lens claiming they reneged on a deal, etc etc, never mind what the judge said - how much effing evidence do you need?
  17. There is one word for what Pompey and that is cheats. They are cheating by playing players that they cannot afford to pay. They are cheating HMRC and all those owed money. I even think they are cheating players like that Serbian, Dusky Tosspot or whatever his name is, promising a future in the Prem, probably getting him to buy his own contract out to come here on totally false pretences. Many years ago in Salisbury there was a light aircraft company that was quite high profile but locally every-one knew that they were living on borrowed time, and I remember getting chatting to a couple of Northern lads in the pub who had just started work there. They had both given up decent jobs and sold their homes for the chance to work there. And about three weeks later the company went t1ts-up and they were left without even a month's wages. That is the reality of trading while knowingly insolvent. (I believe the owners were called to account, but no consolation for all those who lost their cash.) And Pompey are cheating people in the same way.
  18. I actually think you are wrong about today, but I do agree with you about us letting teams off the hook and conceding late goals. Today we had to push on having let the second one in and their pace was too much for the venerable legs at the back in the last ten minutes. We were guilty several times of being caught with too many up the pitch throughout the game, but that is not what normally undoes us. Mostly we a) fail to take a gilt-egded game-finishing chance then we b)ease off a shade and c) sit too deep before, finally d) going into headless chicken mode, allowing teams that never thought they had a chance to suddenly realise that they do. And I hate to say it, but I am convinced that Kelvin is at the heart of this problem. The last two games we let a one-nil lead slip the equaliser was headed in from within the six-yard box and as far as I'm concerned anything in that area is the keepers, and not dealing with punts/crosses just invites pressure in the most vulnerable zone. So, right argument, wrong place & time, I'm afraid, mate.
  19. Not that I'm bitter or anything, but three of their scorers should never have been permitted to sign for them. O'Hara & Owusu-Owasi or whatever his name is both signed after the PL relented feebly over the transfer embargo. Dindane's club, Lens have been royally shafted - ie not paid the fee contractually due but forced into letting the Sk*tes keep him because they can't afford his wages (not that they can either, but that doesn't seem to matter). So just a bit bitter in an otherwise not hurting-as-much-as-I-feared sort of way
  20. Thoughts on today 1. Very proud of our boys - no disgrace 2. Undone by our own ambition in the end, pushing too many up & getting caught 3. Difference in the end was their pace on the break BUT 4. You only get those sort of players for big, big dosh & 5. 3 of their goalscorers should not have been playing at all if there was any justice in the PL. 2 loanees signed when the PL relented over signings, despite their being insolvent & another one who should have had a transfer fee paid by now except that they have stitched up a poor skint French club. So I feel sort of alright about it all in a bitter sort of way & can comfort myself that they will get their come-uppance before too long
  21. I think what we really hate is the way you have blatantly bought/borrowed success (& I for one hopes that Markus does it the right way here) & then crowed about it so much. Anyone could have achieved what you managed with a team fulll of players on Champions League wages (& perhaps you should have achieved more). All I really want is the natural order restored. I can't deny I'm not enjoying the ride at the moment, but your destruction is not the end result many want, just seeing you back where your ground & dismal fanbase should be.
  22. As no-one else was watching South Today, Roger Johnson (saw him at St Mary's with a giant hamburger) said that the PL stated that they definitely wouldn't do anything that would give give any team an advantage, contrary to reports in the newspapers. Ie, no early disbursement of parachute payments.
  23. As far as the PL are concerned they will cease to exist after the last game of the season, so short term face-saving is all they care about. (Though imagine the stink if they were to win the cup.)
  24. Never trust the Daily Mail, that's what I always say. You are absolutely right - all that changed is it is now 1 X 20 & 3 x 24, rather than 2 X 22 & 2 X 24
  25. A remarkably succinct summary (written by a sentient skate on 606) of why the Skatey-boys continue to resist administration comment by BigBadBlue2 (U14332233) posted 17 Hours Ago Administration would be a disaster. Firstly the points deduction is initially 9 points, leaving us on 7 points. Additionally if we exit Administration without a CVA(which HMRC always object to) we would get another 15 or 17 points deduction, were we still in business as a football club. By entering Administration, you have to have sufficient cash flow to pay current liabilities as and when they fall due, or the Administrator would have to sell assets accordingly. We have no assets apart from the stadium and land(mortgaged to Chainrai and untouchable) and the players that we can not sell. Gate receipts and merchandising would not be enough to run the club or even pay the wages, so the club would be liquidated almost immediately. It is not a solution and is effectively the same fate as winding up in our case.
