Probably realised that, as a director without any power, she is still potentially liable when it all goes t*ts up and the fraud squad are all over the place like a rash. Better to keep drawing your £200k a year while you can without the worry
-
How about Chime & Punishment (for some of them, anyway)
-
Or maybe, though not based on any existing title, but sort of works on several levels with Poopey - The Bell Ends
-
Perhaps it was Sulamein Bin Trump

One of the many things the skateholders don't seem to grasp is that every day that passes from now until the end of the month their players are worth about 10% less than the day before. This is why nobody is falling over themselves to be at the front of the queue. And the only reason Lens put a decent bid in for Kaboul was to do a contra against what the skates owe them, as they no they'll never see the cash any other way.

When you keep your life savings rolled up in a Tesco bag stuffed under the Rottweiler's bed in the back corner of your caravan, the world of high finance is all a bit confusing

That piece on the clown is a thing of beauty, it truly is

When the official archivist for this thread comes to tally up the posts, don't forget to add the 700 +posts on 'Pompey or Saints Is their financial position worse than ours?' thread. In fact couldn't some clever chap merge them
-
Or as one skate poster put it the other day - It's not rocket surgery, is it?
-
Call me biased, but how can the PL possibly lift the transfer embargo with the threat of a winding-up petition hanging over the club?
-
Not as much as the demise of this thread, anyway
-
Totally agree. Whatever the outcome, it has been the best comedy in decades. Come on Mr Jacob, have you got another cunning plan up your sleeve to keep us chuckling?
-
Sadly Poopey are not the only ones in this category - Hull & Bolton are in pretty deep, as are Liverpool & Utd. Mind you, the current value of Poopey would mean that if Jacob cadged a fiver off of you their debts to you personally would outstrip the value of the club

I reckon a lot of Pompey's posturing is for the overseas market. Nobody in the UK would touch them with a long sh1tty stick, but all this 'we'll sue the EPL' & 'we'll challenge HMRC i court' is for the ears of some camel-kicker who might just invest a mill or two and is now getting cold feet. It's more like an episode of Hustle, as they try to convince the mark that they're a serious player, not some bunch of chancers trying to cling on to their ill-gotten & shrivelling piles of cash.

God I'm going to miss this thread when it finally goes to thread-heaven. Every single day without fail I find something to laugh at, and just occasionally a little bit of apprehension when they have a glimpse of a better future before it is hilariously ripped away from them again. There is a cast of crims & dolts & deceivers better than any soap could dream up, and then they are all those pearls of wisdom on the fishy forums from some of the most truly retarted people ever to try and form words with a keyboard. I know it's not healthy. I know my karma is suffering badly with all this joy at others' misfortunes. And I know way, way more than I should about all aspects of Poopey, from who owns what bit of land, to who the youth team captain is, who earns what & all the rest. I'm beginning to think I need help, maybe form a therapy group - you know the kind of thing: Hello, my name is Sid & I'm a Pompey takeover saga addict. How will I cope when it ends? Is there anyone out there who can help me.......?

Sudamore certainly doesn't sound like a man with charity in his heart, to quote.... (Scudamore) added that the embargo would remain until there it was "absolutely nailed down, absolutely clear, absolutely concise" that there were no outstanding liabilities. Doesn't sound like a bit of Jacob flannel is going to work
-
Also, they should remember the hard lesson we learnt - it's a members' club & ultimately they can make up the rules as they go on & if you don't like it you can go elsewhere
-
You do wonder if threatening to sue the two organisations - EPL & HMRC - who hold your future in their hands is such a good idea, don't you? Or is it sending your keeper up for a corner time?
-
One of the many things I don't get with the fishy fools - how come Al Faraj had £35 million of nailed on finance in August and yet not a penny piece available 6 weeks later.
-
I actually wonder the opposite about him. He is just stupid enough to be the patsy that ends up owing everything everyone as Gaydamak walk off with the money & Al Faraj the club. It always seemed odd that he was allowed in at the eleventh hour despite being obviously potless and he reminds me of an Arab clown fish swimming in very Israeli shark infested waters.

Does anyone ever read the Portsmouth News Forum - it's the highlight of my day. Some of the comments on there must be being dictated to a care assistant or nurse. Among other claims in the last day or two - Transfer embargo is an illegal restriction of trade It's all a Premier League conspiracy because they don't like Poopey How can James leave if there is a transfer embargo in place If Spuds still owe them future instalments on transfers they should be made to pay up now They have less debt than any other PL team Why should they have to pay for Williamson if he's never played for them Sheik Maktoum is waiting in the wings And Younes Kaboul is worth £14mill But my favourite quote from a Poopey fan was actually on the 606 site: it hurts tp say this but i we dont get that lited and im sorry but isn't it thursday not friday and they av clearly said on other sites and reliable news sources we would know by riday so i wait and see 2mrrow wiv hope and i it is not lited then were going to be saying hello to those scummers down the road a bit more shorter then we would o liked sorry to who this oends but if i av learnt anything rom supporting the team i love POMPEY its to speak wats on my mind. I think it's in English. We may have our share of eccentrics/nutters on this site but there is usually at least a reasonable grasp of our native language & reality amongst posters

Thank God for that is all I can say
-
It all reminds me of playing championship manager - put loads of offers in because most of them turn you down then suddenly end up potentially signing several players for the same spot. Easier to cancel the deal on a computer game though
-
My head agrees with you, my heart fears the jelly-livered spivs of the PL will avoid the issue once again. But they did get a lot of grief over the Sheff U/ West Ham thing & if say Wolves (who live within their means) went down instead of Poopey & then Poopey started defaulting on payments for signings again it would be somewhat embarrassing. I actually think UEFA/FIFA may hold the key. A lot of the top brass are p1ssed off/jealous of the PL and are looking for an excuse to give it a kicking. And if the PL are being seen to be turning a blind eye to the most flagrant example of 'financial doping' as they call it, and the murkiest chain of shadow owners/lenders/advisors leading back to a convicted gun-runner that might just be enough to rouse them. (Or at least the fear of it enough for the PL to hold its nerve & not back down)

I would have thought he was just the type of hungry young pro we should be signing to build for the future. Good signing for a sensible fee & wage ( I hope) as we build steadily. I'm sure I'll think of an example of what happens when a club over-reaches itself financially, paying silly fees & wages for so-called stars.......
