In business but only just - all the best players gone. The weaker the better - the record books will only record the score & we'll all remember it as their best team ever anyway. I was feeling a little paranoid about why they haven't had the promised fire-sale we were all looking forward to, but I actually think that they can't part with their players like we couldn't last year (Think Saga), even if they need to. I read on one of their sites that Mullins & Hughes were on a combined wage of £57k/week. Even if that is way over it still explains why they are all there still. By default, being bottom of the prem means their players are borderline good enough anyway, and few of the strugglers have any cash to spend on transfers and virtually no-one in the CCC has either, plus they are all currently on wages way beyond their true worth, which all means that not only can't they have a fire-sale, they can't even have a fire-giveaway. What a shame, eh? Lucky they had that great negotiator, Storrie, to help them out. (Though, incidentally, when you look at the salary he negotiated for himself, I think he is a fecking ace negotiator!)

From the Skate-News - Pompey line up Kaboul replacement Pompey are targeting Nyron Nosworthy or Danny ****tu to replace Younes Kaboul. wtf???? How can the PL let them continue trying to sign players?

Look away now if you don't want to know that Chelsea scored again

Saints V Stockport County - Post Match Reaction

Too many people are having a go at Lambert & Barnard & bigging up Papa. Lambert in particular runs himself into the ground every game, wins dozens of headers and still scores goals. He might not have been great today, but he is ALWAYS a willing outlet. Barnard did okay without looking great but he will be a good player. Papa did brilliantly today, but he still missed two absolute sitters and he is still very hit and miss. Today was his day, next week he'll probably have a shocker - that's why he doesn't play every week. It all needs to be kept in perspective & we are bl00dy lucky to have so many options that we can swap it around when plan A fails -
Saints V Stockport County - Post Match Reaction

First half was one of the worst 45mins of football I have ever witnessed. Second half was a lot better. In the players defence a) they have had a couple of big games before this one & they all looked leggy in the first half, b) the crowd never woke up till half time either c) Stockport may have been v. limited, but they closed down quickly, d) the ref was a plank, e) we were without Lallana, James & Hammond - all pretty much ever present this season & f) about 4 players were making their home league debuts & you could see they wanted to play safe rather than risk making a fool of themselves. Barnard will be okay, but he needs a goal to calm his nerves, the new defenders looked pretty okay, but I reckon I could have done okay out there today. At the end of the day - not a classic, but job done -
Perhaps they could leave that picture of a train out to distract them....

Is it fair to assume that - as it hasn't been fanfared by Poopey - they did not lodge an appeal against HMRC after all?

Makes you think of Peter Storrie as Brian. All those adoring Skates bowing down before him before his mum comes out and says - He's not a Messiah, he's a very naughty boy...

I love that film - still one of my all time favourites

You don't understand - 20000 shoes = 10000 fans, ie about average FP attendance. Actually 20000 shoes could be nearer 7000 fans if their curious numbers of toes & fingers are matched with legs

Those feckers are going to get away with it, aren't they. Despite not paying the wages again the PL says what the heck, carry on taking on players, even offering loan fees to the Egyptians. Skate-News reports Dindane back at FP. Lens can't shift him on or afford to pay him, so Pompey get away without honouring the deal to buy him, but get to keep him, paying him rather than the dozens of small local creditors or their staff. atford get shafted over the Williamson deal and Redflaps is going to give them cash & let them keep Begovic. They still have a larger, more highly paid squad than any of their more decent rivals, and if it gets a bit thin, just take on a couple more on the never-never. It all stinks and you just know that they will slither and slime their way out of this, survive in the PL until the new Sky money comes rolling in and a new criminal sugar-daddy passes the FPP test to buy them another cup. The more I think about it the more angry I become. This morning I woke up thinking that I would be happy with nothing more than seeing them back in CCC anonymity, but the more I read about it the more I crave seeing them wiped out. They effing well deserve it.

He is a sh1t-bag, isn't he, Storrie? How can an employee of a company come out and say his position is almost untenable? It is clearly completely untenable and he knows it, but every week he can cling on and get his snout in the trough before everyone else gets paid means he pockets another years wage for the other poor effers who have to wait
-
Just out of interest - how many CCJs can a company rack up before it becomes a criminal matter? And could someone contact Hampshire Constabulary, or even trading standards, making the entirely justifiable claim that they are trading fraudulantly? Just wondered......
-
That's what really gets me - they still have a bigger squad of much more highly paid & relatively experienced players than any of their 'poorer' rivals. They are broke & trading criminally yet they still might yet get away with it. hat does the PL do - let them sign some more and shaft some other teams
-
In our favour, though with ML are the (I hope I remembered it correctly) fact that his business reputation was built on never having borrowed money and also that despite a reasonable outlay recently we are not living wildly beyond our means, so the business is viable in its own right, which is very different to being someone's plaything

Two questions for the clever people - one, have Poopey lodged an appeal against the winding up order (I believe they had seven days to do so) & two, how the feck can the PL consider lifting a transfer embargo against a club with a winding-up order against it that are quite likely to miss paying the wages on the due date again? (Fwiw, it still seems like cheating to me. Burnley & Wolves still playing with CCC players because that is all they can afford, Poopey using players on the top end of the Prem wage scale with no prospect of covering the cost. Also, it seems to me that all these foreign clubs like Udinese & Lens are basically being blackmailed into accepting deferred payments with the threat that if they demand what they are rightfully due now the club will go t1ts up immediately & they won't see a penny. What a thoroughly nasty little cheaters club it is...)

I think I read last week that they'd finish up with about £6 mill if he went back to Spurs

Surely these comments demand a closer look: 'In a separate development, Portpin, the company that has provided short-term bridging loans to Portsmouth totalling £23m to enable the club to keep operating, has demanded the Premier League pay the money it says is still due. Sources at Portpin, which is owned by businessmen Levi Kushnir, Balram Chainrai and partners, claim that the governing body have been served with a legal notice asking them for the funds after this month's £7m payment was paid directly to some of the club's football creditors.' It sort of suggests to me that Portpin were expecting to get money from Pompey when they got their TV money. This could actually be very bad news for the Blue very few
-
Another thing that p1sses me off - they only put 5 subs on the bench to make the point about poor Poopey, not allowed to have full squad. We played most of last season using youth players because we didn't have the money to sign players. Bournemouth have even had a schoolboy on theirs. According to BBC they have over 30 players with squad numbers & if they can't afford to buy (& then not pay for or pay) players they should use some of them
-
Only Accrington & Notts County had less today in the cup
-
Spurs for Boateng & a loan fee for O'Hara. Plus a loan fee for Piquionne & Yebda
-
I reckon this is the best yet. I laughed out loud. Sorry for Williamson, a former Saint doesn't deserve to get caught up in the sh1t-fest that is Poopey
-
Good luck to the lad. He will yet have a good career in football

Can't copy the picture, but I reckon it is the one at the right end of the top row
