What a cr*p day! Skates fluke it again in the cup - I only saw the first goal but that was an 'our names on it this season' sort of a goal. Get a gas bill for over £500 effing quid. Manage to split my nose open with a bit of flying wood while cutting logs. Saints f*ck it up yet again to a late goal. Roll on bed-time

I actually think that this XI could do a half decent job in this league & probably do better than last year's team. Our first XI really have no excuses do they
-
I think all HMRC can possibly want & expect (and it's a government department, not a person) from this case is a) the money they are owed by the Skates and b) the prospect of any future money owed being paid on time. Anything else might be considered a bonus but that is not what it is about. If Poopey pay up and can prove that they can continue to pay on time, HMRC will go away, simple as that

He wouldn't have paid the VAT on it, anyway.

I was just about to report a growing sense of reality and intelligent debate on Skatey 606 after reading several interesting theories on the money-churning, then I go to the next thread and this....!! If the FA refuse to pay us our FA cup money, should we serve them with a winding up order?
-
We really do need to preserve some of these for posterity - a sort of Marine Conservation area somewhere so that our little nuggets of wit don't go to waste
-
This, lifted from Skatey 606 is a very interesting (if long) read about the whole financial mess of PL football, written in 2004, I think, but scarily accurate. (It's easier to copy & paste to word to read) http://jesternix.net/pipermail/chelsea_jesternix.net/2006-May/018960.html

May have been done before and I apologise in advance, but it just came to me re Film titles for the inevitable blockbuster - 2010 A Plaice Odyssey

Yet another classis post from the News site: As I have asked twice before but no answers posted, has anyone living in Portsmouth contacted their MP to ask them to enquire of HMRC why they are taking such an unreasonable and irrational attitude to PFC? Does anyone on that inbred island have any morals (or possibly a brain) at all?

Last chance for one of my favourite jokes of all time (apologies if done already) but.... Michael Foot - a true leg end
-
I think all these years of watching Saints has done my psyche some irreparable harm. We were 3-0 up with about a quarter of an hour to go on a team that had barely had a shot at goal all evening and yet..... Two corners on the bounce and I'm getting agitated, thinking I don't like the look of this, if they score now and all the rest of it. Even at 4-0 I was only just able to relax a bit. I'm certain fans of other clubs don't think like that, but is it just me or do other Saints fans suffer like it too?
-
I did this acouple of weeks ago and got (I think) £22 million & I considered that a pretty charitable view. In reality £10-15 million is nearer to what they might actually realise

An old girlfriend years ago got spoofed into reading out 'Has anyone seen Mike Hunt?' on the tannoy in the factory where she worked. She never went back after she wqorked it out.

Does anyone else think that Lambert & Barnard remind them of Beattie and Ormerod in their heyday?
-
Five words for a five nil win - How chuffing good was that???
-
Personally my estimate is 50000 before we're done. This thread is the gift that just keeps on giving.
-
I would just like to say I have wasted YET another 3 hours of my life on this thread, just because I had some work to do and couldn't keep up all day. I come home, expecting a half page of not very much then wham, more fun-filled news stories, as I struggle to catch up with a whole new viper's nest of contradictory theories and off we go again with a sleepless night of anticipation, rearranging my day tomorrow to make sure I can keep up to speed...... Arrggh!! Where will it end? What will become of us all? Nurse! Nurse! It's time for my medication and a little lie down.......
-
As a total irrelevance I was watching Inside Out with my other half, who has no interest in football whatsoever, when TCWTB came on singing, Portsmouth till I die, whereupon she muttered, 'I wish he'd hurry up about it.' Made me laugh anyway.....
-
I think you'll find Tranmere's in Liverpool......
-
However he stands a good chance of making into Private & Colemanballs with statements like this...... "The stats don't lie - we have played 23 games with 14 wins, five draws and just three defeats."

The point with player contracts is that the administrator can terminate any player's contract like any other employees within the terms of redundancy etc law. BUT if all footballing debt, including all contractual obligations to players, are not met in full the FL will withhold their 'Golden Share' meaning that the club cannot participate in the Football League. That is why we had Saga & Rasiak hanging around like a bad smell for so long, because even the administrator couldn't shift them off the books without paying them up in full.

I think that those fellows rather prefer a spot of rugger, don't you know
-
It would be the perfect opportunity for the FPP test to show if it has any credibilty (something the EPL might want to able to show it has) or not, though. How can someone who took a team into admin be a fit and proper owner
-
What every-one needs to be made to understand is that 9 point penalty is a penalty for CHEATING, for playing players they could not afford yet outbid their rivals for, knowing that they could not afford to pay them. (Also IIRC, it was Lineker's beloved Leicester that prompted the introduction of the penalty by going into admin mid season with an unsustainable squad, but being allowed to carry on and get promotion.)
