  1. How much for Sammy Lee?
  2. According to the Liverpool echo report, Evertons new manager will be given £100m to spend, prospects of a new stadium and (for Ronald) a £500k increase in his salary
  3. Predicted revenue from TV and League placing for next season ie 2016/17
  4. There was a table produced in the Sunday Times on May 16th ie before the last Prem game Man Utd v Boscombe which predicted a revised revenue for Saints of £125.1m for the season 2016/17 I assume this was based on a number of variables eg us finishing 5th (which was the position shown in the table at the time of publication) and revenue from 12 TV games but the increased revenue of approx. 50% is interesting and hopefully enables us to move forward Out of interest Arsenal had the highest expected revenue of £151m whilst the lowest would be the equivalent of Norwich at £99.8m
  5. Any feedback on this? Enjoyable evening btw and nice to see a lot of family groups Re the PA - all seemed OK when Ralph and SKD used the mike. Seems that Kenzi doesn't have a powerful enough voice delivery
  6. I think the likes of Hanson and CEMEX rely on the discharge of sea dredged aggregate as part of their business So they will require the availability of a suitable vessel berths to unload and store the raw material
  7. As far as I am aware the majority/all of the land on the west side of the Itchen from Woolston Bridge to Northam Bridges is council owned They would like to 'gentrify' the area especially in front of St Marys and I am sure there is a draft plan of what the result would be following the relocation of the cement/aggregate operations in the area The problem, as I understand it is two fold. First most of the leases are long term and secondly, currently, there is no alternative location to accommodate the relocated businesses. This could have been achieved fairly easily under the failed Dibden Bay scheme proposed several years ago I do know that Cortese was involved in talks about the opportunities for opening up the river frontage in front of the stadium but not sure how this has progressed in recent times It would be great if the opportunity could be progressed
  8. A lot of Pompey fans criticising Allsop the loanee GK from Bournemouth According to Guy Whittingham on Radio Solent a number of GK's who were approached turned down the opportunity to play for Pompey in the end of seasons games Seems very odd
  9. I was there that night and the feeling of anger and jealousy from the 'Fratton Faithful!!!!!!!!!' was palpable I must admit that I really didn't take it in until a few days later as we were all on a high from beating Palace in the FA Cup Semi Final on the previous Saturday
  10. Congrats to Leicester Anyone think Jamie Vardy is related to Wilfred Brambell from Steptoe and Sons?
  11. Looks like Celtic have received permission from Glasgow Council to install a limited Safe Standing area at Celtic Park next season Bearing in mind our relationship with Celtic perhaps we can buy the 2,600 or so standing places the season after next !!
  12. Billy Thanks for this as it more adequately describes the thoughts behind my comments. None of us will ever forget the day (and it should always remain part of the club's history) but it is probably time to move on from the celebrations we had on Sunday As a long standing fan I think the club has achieved a great deal in the past 50 or so years but we do need something tangible for the newer generation of fans to celebrate
  13. Thought it was an OK evening in front of a full house Some bits quite funny eg the WBA chef Good memories of the day, which will forever be etched on my memory. Really came home to me how much the passing of 40 years since have impacted on our collective lives looking at the team on the stage and a few familiar faces in the audience.. Of the players, Jim McCalliog looked to have worn quite well whilst Mel Blythe seemed rather bemused by the whole event Perhaps a good time to close the book on the 1976 Cup Win and hope that the next generation get the chance to experience the fantastic occasion that we all enjoyed at the time I guess that only around 50% of those at Wembley on the day are around to tell the tale which is a sad thought.
  14. Agree with you on this
  15. Heard a rumour from a relatively well placed source yesterday that the announcement of a new sponsor was imminent Three options were mentioned, one I can't remember, a foreign Betting Company and Virgin Media. Whatever the outcome I hope the benefits will be good for the club.
  16. David I am another long serving supporter In my early days in Division 3 South and after 1960 in Div 2, we were an attractive side, full of goals, playing in a compact ground with very basic facilities and a relatively small core support. My generation was brought up on tales of the disappointments our elders felt after the failed promotion campaigns in the late 1940's and there was little expectation of reaching the nirvana of Division 1 or winning a trophy My Dad, who supported Saints from the time they joined the League in 1921 until his death in 1996, would have been delighted to see where Saints are now, playing in a modern stadium where the view is great, the pitch is pristine and supporters are protected from the weather. From my perspective I am happy to feel confident that the team can hold its own in the Prem with a good infrastructure It is also good that many more youngsters are seen around town in Saints kit rather than the Man Utd/Liverpool/London clubs shirts My
  17. I agree with this I can understand Champions league, or the realistic prospect of, will attract players but I guess the main draw will be the players weekly wage and the additional wedge a players agent will obtain as an 'Arrangement Fee' plus the profile of playing in one of the world's top leagues
  18. Scummer Jason McCarthy gets a hat trick!!
  19. Talk Talk?? Charles Dunstone has quite a few business interests in the area, particularly property, and has had a couple of his boats refitted here (including 'Shemara')
  20. interesting comments by a number of Pompey fans complaining about West Ham's financial advantage/taxpayer rip off etc regarding the Hammers Olympic Stadium deal Stones/Glass Houses come to mind!!
  21. As well as McCarthy there are big doubts over Baines, Barkley and Lennon for Saturday's game
  22. Hands up here Watching Kirchhoff on the TV during his early performances for Sunderland he seemed awful Lately however he seems a very decent player well regarded by Mackem fans I know Wouldn't mind him here
  23. Just think there is a reasonable chance of Saints, AFCB and Brighton all playing in the Prem and Eastleigh joining Pompey in Division 4 (aka L2) next season Wonder what are the odds of that happening and, if it did, what would be the scale of meltdown with our historical/hysterical rivals if Eastleigh ended up in a higher position in Div 4?
  24. I have both Loakes and Samuel Windsor Loakes are better quality but Samuel Windsor best value for work Make sure you always keep your shoes polished
  25. Had a quick look on the Leicester Forums General comments are * Saints a very decent side * Simpson their MOTM especially for his 'save' * Foster played very well * 50% reckon that Leicester were fortunate to get away with both penalty shouts * They all seem very confident of winning the League now (why wouldn't they be?) Apparently they have gained the equivalent of 91 points from the same stage as last year when they were 7 points short of safety They also seem to have won 18 points more than any other team during this period * They were very appreciative of the Saints fans singing 'Your going to win the League' after the game.
