  1. Shane Long has always put heart and soul into his game whilst at SMS. However, in my opinion, he was overpriced at £12m in the first place (a couple of Hull City fans I know couldnt believe their club had received such a high price for a player they only thought of as average, at best) For a striker his scoring record here has been very disappointing. All that said I also wish him the very best for the future and hope the club can replace him with someone with more ability but with Shane's commitment
  2. Give the job to Mad Nad and put Diane Abbot in as leader of the opposition and PMQ's will be riveting viewing!!!
  3. 1 Sheep tied to a lamp post = Leisure Centre in West Wales!!
  4. A mate of mine, who deals in Northern Soul records, sold one of the two 45rpm vinyl copies of Frank Wilson's..'Do I Love You (Indeed I do')...for £18k about 20 years ago. It was resold 2 years ago to a guy called Lee Jeffries for a reported £100k!!
  5. Just bought a 45rpm single by Clifford Chance 'She Shot a Hole in My Soul' with 'Wont you Shag with me' on the flip side.. Interesting B side!!! Anyone have an idea of the value?
  6. Always look forward to your posts. To the point and generally full of (black)humour.!!!!!!!
  7. Me too. A (very) long serving Saints fan. The run of results from Villa has been awful but I have endured several similar scenarios. Just as I was enjoying Saints games until Villa.
  8. I am old enough to remember when inflation was over 20% and we were getting a pay adjustment every month. I also had to work three jobs at the same time to pay for the mortgage on my first house. My kids would never contemplate this reality nowadays. Likewise when I grew up in an unheated house with little money for food, eating out (once or twice a year) a weeks caravan holiday (if we were lucky) no car, no phone etc etc. This was the same for many people of our generation who had little but were relatively happy, especially if Saints won at the weekend. Problem is all our collective aspirations have increased significantly in recent years so it is difficult for many to deal with the challenges that were part of my generation's life when growing up.
  9. I have been a Ralph supporter but the recent games after Villa have been truly embarrassing and if we take that form into next season we could well beat the lowest points total held by Derby,
  10. Absolutely awful performance from every player
  11. And it seems that the much vaunted Trade Deal that we could do with the USA as a consequence of Brexit is under pressure from the Democrats as they are not at all happy that the UK Govt is trying to renege on a deal they were happy to sign off. Yet another Brexit 'bonus' in peril!!!
  12. Problem is if 'The Moggster' gets mugged off as an MP he will immediately receive an honour to enable him to have regular naps in The Lords whilst continuing to make a decent living elsewhere.
  13. I have a couple of mates who worked for the Foreign Office. Boris was looked upon as a bumbling buffoon who rarely read his briefing notes.
  14. I cant see us selling too many for next season. I was in a group of 5 and am the only one renewing which is a shame as we have all been at St Marys since the move from The Dell.
  15. Dont think that our emerging talent such as Shaw, Bale and Ox managed to play in the Prem. I think Thierry Small will definitely make the grade for us but his lack of experience was very apparent v Coventry.
  16. Am I right to recollect that we 'sold' a young central defender to Man City recently?
  17. Wonder how many Liverpool fans will be in home ends and corporate areas?
  18. If Leeds lose against Chelsea we are safe but if we take our current form into next season it will spell disaster.
  19. Just to add an addendum to my OP, the club benefitted by the departure of Ings, Vestergaard, Bertrand, Lemina and Hoedt to the tune of approx £250k per week ie £13m per annum in salary terms.

There are some who seem excessively well paid for their contribution and others who will expect to see an increase. It is assumed there may be some additional payments ie appearance money, bonuses etc which may not be included within the above . It is perhaps sobering to note that the combined salaries of Ronald, De Gea and Sancho at Man Utd total £64m!!

    Russia

I dont think it has been hit, just another example of an internal explosion which has had a minor affect on the vessel. However it is heading into another storm in the Black Sea and there is the possibility of this causing the ship to sink. The good news is that all crew will be saved and able to join others at the May 9th celebration in Red Square. Any alternative reports are simply Fake News put out by discredited Western media.
  22. I remember when Saints had a decent Youth team (smashing Pompey 7-0 etc) with the likes of Sam Gallagher/Hesketh etc in the team. They were on a decent run in the Youth Cup and played Nottm Forest at home in the latter stages. Patrick Bamford scored 3 or 4 in a humbling defeat for our youngsters and I dont think we have had a decent crop of youngsters since then. Hopefully they can do a number on Man City. I am old enough to remember our Youth team playing Man Utd in the mid fifties in a team of top rate youngsters some of which, including the fabulous Duncan Edwards) who lost their lives in the Munich Air Crash a couple of years later. We had the likes of Terry Paine and John Sydenham in our team and got thumped 5-2 at The Dell but actually beat Man Utd 2-1 at Old Trafford in the second leg. If we can get one or two youngsters who go on to perform at the same level as Paine (and Sydenham) then that would be great.
  23. It is said that Brexit has been described as an anti-elitist revolt was but was, in fact, a coup by one set of Oxford public schoolboys (amongst others Boris Johnson, Michael Gove, Jacob Rees-Mogg and David Cameron etc many of them members of the Bullington Club) against another. There certainly seems a paucity of information about the benefits of Brexit. One of the main reasons quoted by my Brexit supporting friends was 'taking control' and not allowing unregulated immigration. All the news coming out nowadays is the continued flow of mainly young men regularly arriving at Dover at a time when the M20 leading to Dover is gridlocked by trucks trying to reach the continent.
  24. Wouldnt it be interesting if Nadine Dorries and Dianne Abbott were both in Government together under the control of Liz Truss
  25. I know it is akin to looking at the season through a microscope but in view of our recent dire form since the heavy defeat at Villa Park, if JWP hadnt scored the two crackers at Brighton and Fraser Forster hadnt been in such good form v Arsenal, we could now be looking perilously over our shoulder on 36 points with 2 away games remaining (assuming another hit to our goal difference at home to Liverpool)
