But we had the best Manager in the World for that game, didnt we.....as I have been told.!!
-
But they had a bit of a challenge at Mansfield. Suggest that the ground staff should destroy the pitch prior to the game and then be very aggressive in our performance. I guess the tickets wont be cheap.

Interesting to note that Cam Bragg, Oriol Romeu and Leo Scienza plus Tonder Eckert represented Saints at Friday nights Saints Foundation dinner. I suggest all three are decent people willing to represent the club at fund raising functions. Good on them.
-
Just another input on this, Aaron Ramsdale donated £2.5k to the Saints Foundation last night. Seems that he retains an association with the club from the North East. Fair play to him.

Significant sum of money raised at their annual dinner at St Marys last night. I dont think the majority of Saints fans fully appreciate what the organisation does to help people in need, mainly within the more challenging areas of central Southampton. It was pleasing to see that Leo Scienza, Oriole Romeu and Cam Bragg (a future captain of the team?) were in attendance with Leo bidding for a couple of items in the auction. Leo seems to be fully integrated within the club and it will be a shame when he is sold. Also notable that Katarina Liebherr was in attendance. Apparently the players who were in the squad when team last won promotion were given an engraved Rolex watch. One of these was offered up as the last auction item for £50k.

Good grief. If this is true those of us who have no or moderate religious beliefs are stuck between radical purveyors of the Muslim faith and those propounding Christian beliefs going back to the Old Testament and beyond. It is difficult to believe that Mr Trump has one ounce of Christian beliefs in his body as he does not attend Church, has no idea of what is written within the $99 Bibles his organisation sells and cannot even recite the Lords Prayer without having to look at relevant detail.

Would be interested to know the source that Nic obtained his information from. In today's world these 'alternative information' presentations need to be considered as explained by one of the many Republican spokespersons working in the White House.

I really want him to do well and make me look like a fool for my adverse comments. However there is no sign of him improving from a level of total incompetence and all for an outlay of around £12m. Him and Downs, what a combined waste of money!!

Or on occasions, St Miseries or St Maybe's??

Thats my concern. We really struggle with teams that sit deep. Also there is a general expectation amongst the fan base that we will win, relatively comfortably, but that's not how it goes with Saints.
-
My one and only visit to Hillsborough was in 2007? when we played well and winning by one goal until the Weds keeper (Kevin Pressman?) came up for a last minute corner and headed an equaliser

Saints 1-1 Charlton - Match Thread
spyinthesky replied to Golac's Cunning Stunts's topic in The Saints
One thing that the team cant be accused of is not trying. Whilst the result yesterday was disappointing, every one put in a shift. -
Makes me wonder why we spent a very decent wedge on Fellows when Edioze seems equally as good, if not a better option.

I was there, standing in the side covered terrace, along with a hardy bunch of Saints fans. I seem to remember someone on the York ground staff lowered a flag in the corner of the ground, presumably indicating defeat, and then York scored two late goals to draw the game. As I recollect we won the replay without much of a problem.

I thought at the time it was a terrible miss like the one in the early stages of Tuesday's game at the King Power but didnt we get a corner? If so Archers effort must have diverted off a Leicester player.
-
I have to agree with you on the last point. It doesnt do any good for the player or the club if such negative feelings are transmitted. That sad if he was a young lad coming on for his first game he could be given time but Archer and Downes, based on their involvement so far, amount to a complete waste of over £20m plus wages.
-
Dear old Sammy has never made a save as far as I can tell and what can be said about his distribution?
-
I recollect reading somewhere that Leicester did not ensure that players arriving on big wages did not have a relegation clause in their contracts which obviously a major oversight if true/

The LOLeicester City appreciation thread

I am a bit conflicted. First of all I am a bit jealous of Leicester's great success in winning the Premier League as a middle ranking Premiership club, very similar to our recent standing in recent times. We also share a very similar stadium design although, I guess plans to increase capacity at the King Power are currently on hold. On the reverse side, the 0-9 home thrashing remains embedded in my brain as does the FA Cup Semi Final defeat. All that said, I do have a degree of sympathy for Leicester in their current situation and whilst extremely happy about last nights result, I have experienced similar despair as a Saints fan. Not sure how many Leicester fans will make the journey to the sparsely attended St Marys on Saturday but as fans, I hope we can empathise with their position rather than take the piss. I guess most/all of the Leicester fans who do turn up will be 'proper' supporters used to the ups and downs of the game and not 'hangers on' like a fair proportion of fans of the so called 'Top Six' clubs. -
As Duncan has said, last nights result was history making and it must have been a fantastic experience for the band of hardy away supporters when Shea Charles scored the winner. I cast my mind back to the 1963 FA Cup Replay game when, as a mid table 2nd Division club, the team was second best against 1st Division Nottm Forest, going 3-0 down, until what I thought was a consolation goal with about 12 minutes to go (no additional time played in those days). However Saints were transformed and with a fantastic level of support (possibly one of the best ever at The Dell), a further two goals were scored. Around 30,000+ fans then made their way to White Hart Lane for the second replay, where Saints put on one of the best team performances I can recollect to win comfortably 5-0 and earn the right to play Man Utd in the semi Final at Villa Park.

Just a shame that there werent that many Saints fans at the game to witness the fantastic comeback. Wonder if the result will add more interest on Saturdays game. Got to say that the goals from Charles and the third Leicester goal, both from similar positions on the pitch, were top class.

I guess tonight's performance encapsulates what it is to be a football fan. Feeling of desperation for 60 odd minutes, thinking why oh why do I follow this shower of shit, followed by an absolute out of this world euphoria when the 3rd and then the 4th goal goes in and I am looking forward to Saturday's game!!😍

When Trump is eventually removed from power, it would seem appropriate to put 'Dancing In the Street', originally a hit for Martha & The Vandellas and composed by Marvin Gaye, Mickey Stevenson and Ivy Jo Hunter, on a music loop around the US. All the cities mentioned in the lyrics ie Baltimore, Chicago, DC (Washington), Motor City (Detroit), New Orleans, New York City, New Orleans Philadelphia P.A. primarily vote Democrat. This would piss 'The Donald' off as much as Bad Bunny's performance at the Super Bowl!!

Also Trump is threatening to close the newly finished bridge linking Detroit to Canada until Canada pays back all that it 'owes' to the USA. All this despite the cost of the bridge being paid for by the Canadian Govt. The bridge is named after Gordie Howe who was a famous Canadian Ice Hockey player who also played for the Detroit RedWings.
