Wes, It seems highly likely that the virus started in China but calling it the 'Chinese' virus does ape the comments of a certain gentleman of some ill repute in the USA> As a comparison the 'Spanish' flu, post WW1, seems very likely to have started on a chicken farm in the USA Mid West but the virus outbreak was then initially recorded in the Spanish press as the country was neutral in WW1 and their national press was not subject to censorship.

All these exchanges are interesting and useful. There are two main reasons why I am concerned about Brexit. One is as someone working in the Logistics industry, I know there are likely to significant issues with the movement of goods as well as an expected shortage of HGV drivers due to Eastern European drivers going home. Wes, I understand that most Govts have plans for a number of 'worst case' scenarios such as pandemics, nuclear war etc. Throughout history there have been a number of pandemics that appear to have started in Asia (apart from the Flu epidemic in 1918/19 which seems to have started in Kansas)so the medical world would have been alert to the possibility.

Overall I continued to be impressed with the individual and overall improvement in the team in particular Vestergard, Adams and Romeu with no real weak spots. Wade, no disrespect to you or your family but the Turkish Govt obtained a loan from the EIB to improve production facilities at the Kocaeli plant and had to repay the loan with interest. Now the terms of the deal could be subject to discussion but the fact that another (and bigger) Ford plant in Belgium had to close as a consequence indicates that the UK was not being penalised by the EU as many Brexiteers made out.

Of course the move of Ford Transit to Turkey was financed by a loan agreed by the European Investment Bank which the UK participated in and benefitted from. George Osborne sat on the Board of the EIB at the time. The Ford factory in Ghenk, Belgium,also closed down as a consequence of the move. This is the fact of the matter.

Mosin, I reckon you are one of those young whipper snappers who enjoy robust health. Some of us older coves have had many years suffering the trials and tribulations watching our favourite team and this has had an adverse impact on our health and wellbeing. Did anyone watch Question Time last night? One of the panel was Malcolm Turnbull ex PM of Australia. Thought he spoke very well. Couple of things: 1. He thought the 'Australia' deal was not that great a deal for us, which surprised me as it is being promoted as something quite acceptable. 2. He also pointed out that in any trade negotiations each party would endeavour to protect their own interests. For example, he hoped that Australian farmers would be able to access the UK market post Brexit as they can provide produce at much lower prices than their UK counterparts. However the Aussies were realistic enough to understand that, despite the two countries having a very decent relationship, the UK Govt would have to protect their farmers and therefore some sort of tariffs would be put on Aussie produce as a consequence. This explained to some extent why EU countries were intent on protecting themselves from parts of the withdrawal agreement they didnt like. There were a few other things he said which were interesting to hear from the mouth of a senior third party politician (who seems to be an Anglophile) Basically, as a country, we are going to have to take it on the chin for the short and medium term but he considered that, as a nation, we have the capacity to thrive in the long term. I do hope the last bit is true but sympathise with those who will struggle in the next 5 years or so with lost job opportunities and food price increases as a consequence of what is likely to be a 'No Deal'

I was there with my Dad. Ron Reynolds, the GK, was injured and half back (remember them?) Cliff Huxford (approx 5'8") went in goal. There were a number of floodlight failures throughout the game and I remember standing at the back of the Milton Rd end near the exit with my Dad, and others, ready for a quick get away when Derek Reeves broke away to score his 5th and winning goal. I think he outpaced Jack Charlton to score the winning goal. The view was fairly restricted as the overhang from the Chocolate Boxes obscured the view (and I was only a little 'un at the time) but the joy was palpable. Dad I had had to leg it to the Bus Station to get our last Hants & Dorset bus home. We didnt get home until nearly midnight so my Mum was quite worried about where we where. Still both Dad and I were happy about the result and this game remains one of the more memorable ones in my long history of being a Saints fan. Next round we lost 4-2 at home to Burnley who were one of the top sides at the time.

I have been following this thread with interest as I try to understand both sides of the argument. With regard to Fisheries, I am sympathetic to the idea that we have control over our waters in line with international arrangements. In practical terms, however, how will this work if French, Dutch, Spanish etc fishermen decide to continue fishing? Are gunboats (if available and not focussing on illegal immigrants) sent out to deal with the matter, with the possibility of an international incident? How will those UK based fishermen who sell their catch into European markets deal with the expected blockade of European ports when they try to transport their produce into the European market? Further on, as and when the Scots get Independence and decide to remain in the EU, will this not 'muddy the water'(!!) in respect to fishing rights? Interested in views (from both sides)

I can go back further than this to 18 September 1965 when we played a newly relegated Wolves team in Div 2 Wolves were doing OK and we were a goal down within 5 minutes. However from there on in every shot at goal went in and I think we were 5-2 up at HT and scored our ninth with 15-20 minutes left with the crowd shouting 'We want 10' . If my memory serves me correct we hit the woodwork at least twice in the closing stages so nearly reached the magical double figure. A few of us went up to Molineux for the reverse fixture when Dave Webb scored on his debut. We then went undefeated for the rest of the season and won our first ever promotion to the top division.
