  1. But none of know how those idols would have performed in today's game, Shearer is the only one you can have any idea about. How would Channon have fayred against a defence comprised of 4 WC defenders and not 2 barrow boys and a barman...no-one knows. You can only compare JWP to the modern game. Even now we see yesterday's top men being surpassed by the skills and speed of new arrivals.
  2. Looks like they've got their best available XI out today, perhaps they're not taking Wednesday's game seriously then.
  3. Nigh on 80 but what has that got to do with JWPs indifferent qualities. Both started yesterday I think.
  4. Honestly I'd rather have Alli or Barkley, even if they do project the image of having the brain of a plank of wood. Football brains are only of use in modern football if you have the skills to back it up. I mean Einstein well not a great footballer was he...good brain though.
  5. Oh a bloke....no use at all then, if it was a girl stupid enough to be deluded about us making any further use of Gaston there might have been some advantages to be had. Gaston has been criminally mismanaged these last 6 months or so, play him or let him go but stop paying him to be 'injured' and do furk all.
  6. Gastonette...is that a sort of Gaston groupie ?
  7. Sometimes I think we now have a poundland shopping policy. Never mind the tat that we're buying, look at the price tag. Unless of course we thought that Yoshida was a genuinely serious replacement at RB, must be some reason that we resigned him I suppose.
  8. Where does 3 in a week come from, Sat,Sat,Weds, I make that 10 days. Compared to Liverpool's Thurs,Sun,Weds now that's 3 in a week.
  9. Professional players should be able to handle 2 games a week, there was no reason to drop them yesterday at all. Liverpool played Thursday, they play this afternoon and again on Wednesday, think they'll field a depleted side today because they fancy their chances on Wednesday? I really really doubt it. He'll put out a side to win on both occasions.
  10. Some don't seem to be able to do that, well if you assume Koeman's erratic team selections are for that reason anyway. Why was Clasie dropped yesterday? Hasn't played much, hasn't done any internationals and yet he needs to be rested, I'd have thought what he needs just now is football not afties on the bench. Or was it because Koeman thought he'd be physically overwhelmed by Touré and Fernandinho ? Touré was crap, Clasie might have had a good game.
  11. Well there have been "stars" from the academy that came after and went before but I get your point. Without JWP there is virtually no academy representation in Saints current side but I doubt that he's being forced upon Koeman as a token value.
  12. Weren't we 0-0 at half time and then Morgan went off injured to be replaced by...yep you've guessed it...Yoshida ? We then lost 3-0 of course.
  13. But it was at that epoque that "big clubs" were supposed to be enquiring about him and preparing mega bids wasn't it. Hype and gossip of course but he was making the headlines, who knows perhaps the club were actively encouraging that.
  14. Perhaps Pochettino made him look a better player than he actually is, seems to be the case (according to many) with Lallana, Lovren, Chambers and Lambert.
  15. Why do players need to be "rested" all of the time, we didn't have a midweek game. Look at top sides, same side for most games, 3 games every 8 days. Are our players weaklings or something?
  16. Different class of football that's why. In the Unders he's playing against young players who aren't good enough to make their nations' senior group, ie not in the 2/3 best players of that country in their position. In the PL he's playing against the whole spectrum of players and his limitations are more obvious. Unders football should never be used as a yardstick unless all players eligible for the level play in said level.
  17. And Pochettino finished still higher using the same tactics with different/better players...what's the point really. Yesterday wasn't about tactics, it was about the choice of players and their ability to perform the tactical system in place.. Pochettino is a better manager than Koeman, for the EPL anyway, at the end of their respective careers in the EPL Poch will achieve more.
  18. Not even the reason, he's just another cheap, dutch wannabee of the type we seem to like to sign for no apparent reason from time to time. We must have a minimum dutch quota or something of that ilk.
  19. City looked beatable today, CBs,Keeper and Touré all pretty poor, unfortunately so were we in the main.
  20. Depends on the mentality of the players of course. Some buckle down, some don't give a furk. Wanyama will always be in the Kenyan XI even if he was playing for Vospers on a Sunday, he has no incentive to continue to give 100%. Morgan was different, ease up and DD dumps ya.
  21. The selection didn't make Wanyama as bad as he was for the first 25 minutes or so though did it? Bloke doesn't want to be here.
  22. Awful, need to keep plugging away though because City look pretty ropey at the back.
  23. Then again you won't find many young blokes on 30K a week or so with ugly women. Well not unless they knocked them up when they were on 200£ a week in the unders that is..you know like Lallana.. Won't find many with year 2000 Fiestas either. It goes with the lifestyle.
  24. didn't know that Tad was still with us actually, thought he went back to Japan ages back.
  25. And now he can't seemingly get a game at Milton Keynes. Something went very wrong with Gallagher, I mean he wasn't ever going to be Harry Kane, far too clumsy for that, but he should be able to do something in League 1..
