Anything is possible, we had a fairly poor second half of the season last year, so might they. Basic fact is though from the same start point (15th game) we were already 6 points behind their current total and we only made 32 points on the 18th match day of the season so they really do have a head start.

We'll get a UEFA hand out for him as well and he probably wouldn't want to move anyway; There are other players we could sell for more and who probably do want to move. In any case the manager has ruled out any sales so it's all very academic really.

Dennis Wise, Paul Scholes, Alan Ball. They all played football in another era, when the English games was not peopled by 60 or 70% elite foreign internationals. the game has changed so much that there is no longer any place for the small, weak or wobbly. some of the games we saw of yesteryear would seem like semi-pro league games now. The players weren't fit and many of them weren't even very good. Players were good in their time but they would be decidely mediocre in modern football.

Poch is an up and coming manager, never seen him touted as a great manager as of yet. Then again he's about 10 years younger and has no real failures on his resumé. Koeman failed at Valencia and was at best mediocre at Benfica. Perhaps he needs to manage mainly Dutch players to get the best out of his ideas. The Dutch national teams has a sort of hand down managerial system, the next is always known in advance, after Danny Blind i've no idea who's up next.

A binkie is a sort of security blanket for children, however in the sporting context it's a player favoured by coachs and managers often against all reason. Never mind that he dropped Clasie and Martina hardly plays, that just illustrates my point, they are not showing the type of form or ability which would justify them being at Saints really are they? Thus the manager bought them against all common sense, ie archetypal "binkies". Clasie is and probably always will be too small for the PL, at least as a DM anyway.
-
What reputation would that be then? He's had a few good years in the dutch leagues to be sure but his excursions in portugal and spain weren't all that convincing really. He has a reputation as a solid Dutch league manager, apart from that he has no global reputation as a manager.
-
More 2+2=74 really, Ancelotti doesn't do clubs like Saints. He's hoping for Utd I think.
-
But then we should probably have bought those in the summer instead of squandering the money on whatever we squandered it on. We bought Koeman binkies, like Clasie and Martina, if they aren't good enough that's his fault isn't it? It's like last January, we needed a couple of players to try to capitalise on our great start to the season, what did we do, we signed Elia, no doubt another Koeman protégé and that other Serb bloke who wasn't physically up to the PL on loan. Koeman is picking the tranfer targets, that's obvious enough, he should stop moaning about it and get on with the job.

Palace is a winnable game for us I think, should get a decent crowd which is more than we would have done with a northern crap outfit at St Mary's. -
Then again irremediable is probably unknown to 3/4 of our posters. The standard of English on this forum goes downhill by the day, I just assume it's a fair reflection of the standard of education in the UK of the time. 1 post down "weather" instead of whether but I presume that's predictive text again.

To do what exactly ?

Now would that be a real hoverboard as seen in Back to the Future 2 or a hoverboard that doesn't really hover but runs on wheels.
-
Trouble is, I personally don't have much faith in Koeman. We'll see, work in progress and all that.
-
Who'd want to buy him anyway really? Some club or other needs to be motivated enough to pay the initial price and then pay him 40K a week or whatever...just because we were stupid enough to pay 12 million £ for him it doesn't mean anyone else will be to pay even half of that. Anyway we're not selling anyone...honest guv.
-
It was just idiotic football manager speak anyway. He just needed to say he didn't foresee us selling any first team regular in January and leave it at that. The 100 million £ rider was totally unecessary.
-
And how do you know that exactly, he came from a weak league, even some of our dutch contributors have decried him. Stats in the dutch league are exactly that, they are not transmutable to other leagues. Gaston was pretty good in Italy, total disaster in the PL, You may want him to be better than he actually is just now but it's by no means a certainty that it's going to happen.

We need to spend money but probably we need money to spend.
-
But only in the event of a draw between Palace and Everton this evening, if there's any other result we'd be at least 3 points off 6th with 6 other teams in between. These if we had some bacon we could have some bacon and eggs if we had some eggs calculations are always utterly ill thought out. We are 12th, that's a fact.

Burnt out, poor defence. Too many iberics, take your pick really.
-
They certainly are combatitive enough, Boruc looking pretty sharp today. If it stays this way I'm not sure José will survive.
-
But even if they do go on loan it probably won't reduce our wage bill and it won't bring us any money. We only sold for 37 million or so last summer and the vast majority of that has been spent so unless the owner is going to put her hand in her purse again there's no money available, there wasn't last January and there won't be this and I really doubt if there's much FFP space on the salary mass either. We paid our money and took our choice in the summer, now we have to live with the consequences or sell one (or more) major assets. Perhaps we'll let Wanyama go if there's still a market for him, offering not much just now and replacing him may be the way to go.
