  1. When you suffer heavy defeats as our three sides did this week luck does not enter into the equation. It generally means that you are generally not good enough or something is wrong somewhere in the root structure of the club. Hunter was already criticising his players for their standard of play back in August, perhaps it's got better since then but the writing was already on the wall. Why exactly Jaidi seemed to be in charge at Norwich who knows. Now 2 summers back we sacked Dodd and Williams from the U18s and got some other bloke, who'll no doubt excuse me for forgetting his name if I ever knew it, but I'm not sure that the results have got any much better.
  2. Why would he do that exactly. Stek is the undisputed number 1 at the club and will no doubt play when fit. Until Forster is fit to return that is of course.
  3. Of course, don't know why we didn't, manager should have called someone over and told them to do it.
  4. But to be honest Randall is their McCarthy or some other young man from the unders who has the number 44 shirt or similar. He got a game, rocky at first and then grew into it but at least his manager had confidence in him.
  5. He wasn't that good at City. They eased up when they went 2 up and then Aguero went off. Bony might be good in the air but on the deck he's a slug compared to the ability of Sturridge when he wants to show it. We weren't good at City in any way, 2 quick goals and it was done and dusted for them.
  6. mehmeh then, acoustically exactly the same as the french name for a grandma, or more generally speaking any old lady; Mémé.
  7. Sort of. I can't see the difference between not playing Martina and not playing McCarthy either myself. Same with Juanmi and Elia and that other Serb bloke we had at the end of last season.
  8. Only the end of season report will tell us that. For the time being we're lower in the league, out of Europe at the first real hurdle (if even that) and out of the league cup. So really only finishing 7th or higher and getting to perhaps the SF stage of the FA Cup can be considered as having achieved a better performance, whether the squad is better or worse makes very little difference.
  9. Ah yes another thing I wanted to mention about last night. Players need to face the ball at all times when they're trying to close down. Clasie (him again) I think it was rushed forward and turned his back when Moreno was shooting in what I think led up to their 3rd goal. Shot was a daisy cutter so turning his back made no difference at all. If he faces the ball and sticks out a boot or something the ball might have gone wide or been blocked before it got anywhere near being dangerous. Don't they coach that in the UK? Never turn your back on an opponent.
  10. Not unusual, we have a place on the coast near Sete and the various dutch families who rent the house next door all bring fritsaus, krokets and frikandels with them to eat rather than good old french stuff. They gang together with other dutch families and eat their crap and make themselves generally unpopular. Still it's a free world...apparently. Probably no worse than the English with their bacon and beans for breakfast on Greek Islands.
  11. At least there's consistency throughout the club then, the epitomy of the "Southampton Way" All the teams playing the same system and losing by similar margins.
  12. 5 points and +10 on GD actually.,
  13. Can't be, because A Saint's fan, well he'd never say that something is p*ss poor or unacceptable when it obviously is. If you read the Red Café you can see that there are thousands of 40 yr Utd fans who aren't really Utd fans because they think LvG isn't great and Rooney is past it.
  14. No no no, you've not got used to this forum, players who aren't playing well (or at all ) are always going to get better next week, next season or the next time they play. Saints do not spend money on crap who'll never get better or adapt.. I mean some even think we'll get something out of Gaston Ramirez yet even though he'll leave on a free in 4 weeks time...they are just hopelessly optimistic. NB I went to that France-Holland game, the whole side were awful, but then they usually are without Robben.
  15. Well at least Koeman seems to know we need to spend more money on better players.
  16. Hah, typical dutch ganging together mentality.
  17. Absolutely, they could have been down to 10 men after 20 minutes if we'd pushed it. The laddy looked totally useless for a while and then bit by bit he dug in and actually threatened us with his runs after a while. Just do not understand the way we capitulated last night and yet most seem to find it acceptable.
  18. So much the better, they only put out a stream of moral boosting anyway.
  19. Apparently not because we put out our strongest team and they tried their best. Sounds like my old Akela Nelly Knowles on the subject of Cub Scout Football. The fact that we've spent 100 million £ on players who aren't good enough to beat a depleted Liverpool side doesn't come into the question apparently and yet most seemed to think we would win when the line ups were announced. Some fans seem to settle for very little, you could even say the minimum.
  20. He fielded a couple of shots I think, bog standard picks up from 15 yards though. Picked off a couple of bad crosses from JWP, that's about it. Pity cos he looked as if he might be a bit shaky if tested.
  21. But when you agree on the first team what's left exactly, Juanmi? yeah right, Martina......arf arf arf, Caulker/Yoshida ? Are they really any better than last year's back ups, in fact in Yoshida's case it's exactly the same. We've lost 3 good players, 2 of which have been replaced with inferior quality.
  22. I remember all of these reasons being presented ad nauseum for Gaston, never really got any better though did it..
  23. What else is there to see exactly, he is what he is a bog standard dutch CM who looks good in a poor league. He cost 8 million, won't get exceptional players for that. Feyenoord are doing just as well without him as they did with him it would seem.
  24. Simply because we sold 2 excellent players last summer and lost a third because he didn't want to sign for us on a permanent basis (even though he said he did!!) We replaced them with mid range tat and quantity over quality squad fillers. When you sell the league's best DM for 25 million or so you need to replace him with something better that a dutch midget and a no hoper, card collecting Chelsea reject.
  25. And there you sum up the club's current policy. Koeman spoke about it himself yesterday (or the day before).
