But why would he want to sign for a club who are 14th and not a club who are 2nd in the league. It's not a missed opportunity if the player doesn't want to sign for you now is it.

Why Stephens exactly ? If he plays for us in the Cup that means he can't play for anyone else this season and that may not be what's planned.

As you say we had a pretty good season last year, didn't hear anyone calling for cash splashing last January really. Now things aren't so great and yet we only sold 2 main line players and lost a loanee who were all replaced with what would seem to be Koeman signings, so why do we suddenly need to spend even more to keep the same manager? I am confused, he's had his head and did well last season, now we need to spend or he'll walk away...I just don't buy it. Now if you told me that he actually really wants to sell Mané and Wanyama and spend the proceeds..well that I could believe.

Depends on exactly what his level is really. Boro obviously didn't think he was worth a game for most of the time in any position so I'd wait to have an actual look at his capabilities before deciding to put him into the first XI group on matchdays.

We've spent about 120 million since his appointment and that is a far old sum for a club such as ours. If nyone cares to work out how much say Tottenham or Arsenal have spent over the same period that would be quite interesting.

Well no, we know that the wage bill went up from 13/14 to 14/15, it's in the accounts. Then if you're suggesting that the sums paid to Cedric, Juanmi, Stekelenburg, VanDijk Clasie, Romeu and Martina+ Gaston coming back are less than those paid to Morgan, Toby and Clyne then I'd suggest that you need to think again.

Not really, the problem is incoming fees tend to get overestimated and outgoing fees underestimated. We have sold players for somewhere around 120 million over the last 2 summers, with the purchases made and the loan fees paid I don't see there being a whole lot left.
