  1. Their defence looked very poor against Swansea, then again so did ours at West Ham, the only difference being that they can score just now and we can't. Don't know what to predict, want to be optimistic but I'm just afraid that Sterling will take us apart because West Ham's wingers certainly did. Now I'd play Clyne at RB and put Chambers in front of him, don't know why Mauricio doesn't do that or even try it anyway, I'm sure Chambers has more to offer in a forward role because every time he comes up against a really quick wide man the result isn't pretty to watch.,
  2. Exactly, nothing is to stop them saying that when the vehicle was stripped down for repair they found something else wrong or broken as well. That's why experts look at the damages and agree them with the reparers.
  3. so are we saying here that he hasn't lived up to the promise shown 18 months ago then?
  4. Less than you'd think, we are obsessed with English players, don't know who's doing that is, I'd still put Kurzawa in a league way beyond Shaw's we could probably have got him last summer for about 2 million. Azpilicueta is probably a better LB than Shaw will ever be, about 6 million I think and he's a 2 footer, can play left and right. FWIW I thought that Shaw and Chambers both looked very poor last saturday when faced with real wingers, looked totally out of their depth defensively.
  5. Buy a player with some actual current value who can be drafted in for games like Sunderland in the Cups and actually produce a performance worthy of the manager's trust. For me this Academy nonsense has gone too far and it leads to dire events like the Cup games against Sunderland. Fans want to win now as we saw recently, that means that if there's nothing in reserve the first XI have to play every game.
  6. Well I think that's what he's saying, seems to be totally obsessed with defending a position that's undefendable.
  7. Preston were probably in a higher league in 1995 though. A loan would do JWP some good, Bournemouth or somewhere like that because he's not first choice at SFC and won't be for a while yet. He was and now isn't, that means that he's regressed because Davis hasn't got much better.
  8. You obviously didn't realise what a Malky McKay choice was then, was he not told to resign or be sacked by Tan?
  9. No it isn't because JWP is a bit part player, 30 appearances is misleading. He's started 12 PL games and has had 13 sub appearances, the rest is Cup stuff. Thing is even 1 minute counts as a sub appearance although any contribution is minimal and JWP has had 8 sub appearances which have been fairly brief. He started the season as a starter and has become a bit part sub when the first XI are fit.
  10. There's a stat for that, usually called Key Passes, I'll leave it to you to look that up.
  11. What do you expect he hardly ever plays and when he does he's found wanting, perhaps he needs to go back to Havant + Waterlooville to toughen up a bit more eh. We need to do like other clubs, loan out our nearly players and see what real football does for them, why Beckham went on loan to Preston at one stage I think, so did Welbeck who also had a spell at Sunderland.
  12. Perhaps this bloke costs less and isn't anywhere near as exigent on transfer fees. When we know what he's supposed to do we'll have a better idea, we can but wait. Perhaps KL wanted to shove him into our set-up all along, well since last summer and NC was having none of that so he got a Malky McKay choice.
  13. FFS see post 95, apparently some Guardian article or other, bunch of dreamers that they are. It's just all hype.
  14. However anyone pretending that JWP might be in England's WC squad this summer is just a dreamer and anything that they may write can be instantly cast aside. He's not even in our starting XI, he's a 20 minute max bit part player because we have better players at our disposal. He was absolutely woeful at Sunderland so why anyone would think he's an England player at this time is totally incomprehensible.
  15. Oh yes it is, anything derogatory that you can say about a person or organisation that can't be proved to be correct and that might affect their standing in society or in the eyes of others is libellous.
  16. Two I think, free kick for Fonte's goal home to Sunderland and one for JRod's equaliser at Stoke, not sure that it was a free kick or corner though.
  17. It is a personal opinion, can't ever see him getting very far in top class football, he is too small and too weak to play in the position that he does, I've always had that opinion about him, it's nothing new. If we want to compete at the top level, which I presume that we do, we need far better players than JWP. Which is why so many seemed to want Banega and players like that I suppose, or this Hunt fella that we're supposed to have already done a deal for. To me every time that he's been given an important role JWP has been found wanting, like at Sunderland in the Cup or Everton away.
  18. trouble is MLG I'm a bit of a knob where footballers are concerned, I'd give you 20 JWPs for one Noble or Nolan, I want Saints to have good players now not in 10 years time , say what you like but I've no time whatsover for JWP, to me he is weak and wishy washy and I can't see him ever getting much better.
  19. Shaw (although personally I'd take Chelsea's money and replace him with Kurzawa from Monaco at a quarter of the price) and Chambers yes, Ward Prowse I can well do without, nowhere near good enough for my liking, think he's a bit full of himself actually.
  20. He did perform quite well,he also missed 2 easy chances, no doubt down to overeagerness, pity that he's had this family bereavement of late, however you'd have to assume that he was playable against West Ham and it wasn't what Lambert was doing on the field that would have kept Gallagher off of it for 80 minutes. Whole situation has become confused because Lambert needs junking if were going to get anywhere better this season.
  21. The difference is that you can hire people with skills from outside your particular field to give one off or occasional services, you don't need to make them directors of the company with a permanent role that's obscure enough.
  22. Osvaldo had been acting up since god knows when, Cortese going was obviously the final straw for him, had we not been negociating loans to Italy for him long before Cortese's departure was finally announced ?. We could have got a loan striker in for the rest of the season with an option to buy but we didn't, why do you think that was then? Need I remind you that one in one out as confirmed by Mauricio turned into two out none in.
  23. I'd have thought that our performances in the cups this season would have shown us exactly where we are with the youth project. Our youth apart from the "cherries" will soon be swelling the ranks of Yeovil,Aldershot and Salisbury as per usual. I've seen it all before, we've had so many stars in the making who just turned out to be total rubbish or have poor attitudes. It's nothing new, every club wants home grown talent, that's why Arsenal and Manchester Utd have scores of young players who will never be quite good enough for them out on loan at Burnley,Peterborough and beyond. In the main young players who will one day be good enough to be first team regulars in the PL will have shown that by the time they're 18 or 19, most of ours certainly haven't done that yet.
  24. Only plays bit parts in their League team I think, played 60 odd minutes in the EL game though and scored an easy goal. No doubt that they took him for the Europa League as they have all the strikers they need for the Calcio. Italian Federation probably wanted him playing on a regular basis though. don't know how the England set up handle those sort of cases but it is universally known that the FFF tells players who aren't regulars in their sides to find new clubs if they want to continue being part of the national team.
  25. Which is why of course we've spent nigh on 70 million in 2 summers. Where would we be now if we were solely reliant on the "Academy" probably about half way down the championship. The nucleus of our current side has come from the exterieur, only Shaw and Chambers have come from the Academy, well Lallana but he was here before these owners, might even be after they leave as well. It's just a pipe dream that we need to abandon if we really want any form of recognisable success.
