  1. Nope, cardboard cutout wearing the Number 7 shirt was just blown about by the wind to simulate movement I think.
  2. We miss chance after chance every week, I just cannot understand why Lambert gets a game, it's like playing with 10 men every week.
  3. Clattenberg would only give a Saints opponent a yellow card for that.
  4. down to 8 now, still 1-1 though.
  5. Game is on Canal+ Sport for us anyway.
  6. If he's faced with Sterling today we might get an idea of just how much progression Shaw still needs to make. I thought he was p*ss poor against West Ham, not worse than Chambers mind you but poor all the same. He's not the best defensive LB in the PL (yet) that's for sure. Still think Cole will get the nod ahead of him for the WC.
  7. It's where most of the secondary players get most of their games actually, particularly in the early rounds of competitions. We'll just have to see where we are with our structure come June and July.
  8. European football, the next step along the path for all ambitious players. To some of us it means nothing, for some players it means everything because it represents a linear progression.
  9. Certainly not me.
  10. If he can find Central Station by then...
  11. I'd like to see him play both Clyne and Chambers down our right, he won't though, the system seems to be set in stone. Usual side but with Chambers in place of Davis.
  12. Suarez did play at SMS last year I think, just wasn't anything special, in fact I have a distinct memory of them not being very good at all on that day. Changed a lot since then though, especially with the eclosion of Sterling of late, still they weren't all that brilliant against Swansea last week.
  13. Doubt it, in our system the 2 DMs are zoned left and right and who goes forward and who stays back depends on where the play actually is, on close study I think you might find that when one is a bit forward the other drops into the centre circle zone. As we have no wide men the FBs are almost always forward and the 2 CMs have to cover for them so can't go gung ho-ing forward all of the time. If we played with really wide men as do most teams I think you might well see our middle men getting forward a lot more and having more opportunities to try their hand from the edge of the box.
  14. Welcome and absolutely necessary because if we had to play Maya or Jos they will take us apart, not at all convinced that they won't anyway, depends on our strikers really, they need to step up and start putting those chances away.
  15. Strange how Grenier is perceived from the exterieur, he's more like Lallana really and then some because he can't tackle. His role bears no comparison to Morgan's really, a sentinel in front of the defence, purely there to recover the ball and send the team forward again. Only 2 real candidates for that role in their list Mavuba and Matiuidi and I'd say Morgan is the equal or better than both of them. Just plays for an unfashionable side which kept him out of the bleuets for the most part of the time and thus he has dropped outside of their system which is linear.
  16. I honestly don't know, Matuidi is far from brilliant in my view but when you're playing in a side like Galacticos PSG you may well look the complete player, Cabaye certainly can't claim a starting place there as of yet because Blanc depends very much on Thiago Motta and Lavezzi and sometimes you get the feeling he just tolerates a token french player because it's necessary.
  17. Think Cardiff recovered about 3 million or so of the 8 they were supposed to have paid for him. Perhaps that was just the outstanding balance though and Copenhagen agreed to take him back and write off the remainder of the fee.
  18. Depends really, we might get some money back, probably not all of it though. If he were to have a good WC we'd probably get more as there might be a bit of competition for his signature.
  19. If the Dieudonné had not been such a knob and paid his fines and his taxes it would have probably gone unnoticed still. He is just a common criminal, spiriting away all his earnings to Cameroon or something and then claiming he's bankrupt so as not to pay for anything at all, probably even gets social security handouts as well. When they raided his house in a smart parisian suburb they found nigh on 1 million Euros in cash, not bad for a bloke who's stoney broke.
  20. We shall see in June and July just how good Pogba,Cabaye and Matuidi are when faced with really decent opposition, they certainly didn't look all that good in South America last summer (well except Pogba, he wasn't there)
  21. Morgan should be in the squad ahead of Mavuba but he's not. As for Grenier and Sissoko they play in far more forward roles and to even think about Morgan qualifying for one of those he'd need to be playing in the Davis role at Saints week in week out, even if he had the aptitude for it that is. As MP won't play Cork and Wanyama in the same side I guess that's out of the question.
  22. Wanyama has obviously been having trouble with his leg since he came back, you could tell by the way he went gingerly about his tackles. Those weren't Wanyama tackles they were 8 year old maiden tackles.
  23. Coutinho was pretty awful last week actually, wouldn't mind him to be in the same rich vein of form:rolleyes:tomorrow.
  24. Hodgson did say though that this group had been selected on current form only and that others were not necessarily out of the running. Not sure that he didn't specify Carroll,Johnson and Barry after that.
  25. not necessarily, plenty of their players are at clubs with all sorts of nationalities as manager. It's more about the status of the club than anything else and of course European football, that's the common denominator. There's not one player on their list without it and the vast majority (bar one or 2) have played in the CL, it's the only level that DD respects.
