  1. Because I've no doubt that that was the project sold to him at the time. He was playing CL football at Celtic, he apparently had some offers from other European clubs but he chose us because of our ambition, at that time the talk was of CL football in the foreseeable future, perhaps not next season but not in 30 years time either.
  2. No idea what you're on about there really, I have no confidence in this owner to continue pushing the club upwards in the manner that I'd like, it's a personal thing, I've probably no base reason for it but the fact that the situation is so veiled peturbs me. I like Cortese's drive and ambition, the fact that his departure is surrounded in mystery fuelled by quarter truths and vague promises does not reassure me in any way. I've no time for Ice Hockey coaches cum personal motivators and obscure Austrian player's agents. If we seemed to be advancing on the CEO front I might be more optimistic but that seems to have been put into abeyance.
  3. You're right there Ottery, can't wait until she sells up and pushes off. I have no confidence in her whatsover. Far too opaque for a simple being like me, I like to know where things stand.
  4. the trouble is when you take away the non-England players from those set-ups they become mediocre. Take away Suarez from Liverpool and what have you got left, similarily Everton with Coleman and Lukaku. What's left are just nearly teams.
  5. He said himself that he chose us for our ambition, depends really on where we are with that now. To me our failure to sign at least a striker in January has shown me exactly where we are on the ambition front. We have an 18 year old and an old man whose legs have gone, not much ambition to be seen there now is there.
  6. His recent performances and the fact that he came here to play CL football.
  7. You think ?? Looked totally disinterested on Saturday,
  8. Remy will cost about 20 million, Pardew said only the other day that Remy becomes less affordable to them with every goal that he scores. At Osvaldo prices you're in the hit and hope brigade. Anyway I really, really doubt that we'll be spending much money this summer, not on transfer fees anyway. Think we'll be looking for decent free agents.
  9. What meltdown, for me it would just be the shape of things to come. We had offers for 7 of our players in the January window, whether that included those that have now left or not I couldn't say. From the little I've heard at least one of those players wanted the move but the sum was judged insufficient and a new offer (presumably higher) came too late. No idea who that might be but it will certainly come to pass in the summer.,
  10. We might even do well to finish top half actually, too many players look sh@gged out or half fit. Several just waiting for their summer moves perhaps, deals are already being done for the summer, whether we're doing that yet though I just couldn't say. Imagine how shame making it will be if West Ham finish above us.
  11. Depends if Wanyama is fit though doesn't it, wasn't last week, reaction to his earlier injury apparently. Think he might have lost interest in us myself, only an opinion though.
  12. I think you have to inform your insurance company at about the time of the accident(reasonable delay, varies though) that you've had a bump but that no claim should arise from it because the matter has been settled otherwise. If you did that then you should have no problem, if you didn't I've no idea where you stand.
  13. Which Liebherrs ? I hope she's taxing her uncles, aunts and cousins for some of that newly created moolah then. You'd think they could bung us a few million £ in shirt sponsorship in that case wouldn't you. One branch of the family buys the club another gets most of the profit..doesn't seem right really.
  14. If you judged it on Saturday's performances then they'd probably be right actually. Pity England announce their squad so late, Thursday for the following Wednesday seems very tardy to me, not that the players don't already know of course. Still got a feeling that WC hopes are adversely affecting our performances, some trying too hard, some easing up so as not to get injured.
  15. Don't know, Lewington was at the Boleyn last Saturday, squad for the next week is already picked anyway. Chambers is only in the U19s and we need to stop dreaming about Clyne, he's not even first choice at Saints any more. The 4 last mentioned Liverpool lads are on the plane already.
  16. Especially as he's over 19 now although the age rules in football always refer to the start of the current season or competition. Perhaps he's just there to aid others with his experience. We'll see who plays for the U21s.
  17. Bad news then, another cup casualty ?
  18. You'd think Chambers would be disappointed by that wouldn't you, I mean that's no progression at all, U21s would surely have been his goal for this season, especially as they only have a game against Wales next week.
  19. One things for sure, if we are as wasteful in front of goal as we have been of late we won't win. Really, really needs to be sorted out, don't ask me how though. Our midfielders keep trying to thread the ball through to our attackers who then either miss, lose the ball or are offside, they might as well shoot from 20 yds, who knows we might get some deflections. One free kick goal from our strikers in 4 games isn't enough, in fact it's lamentably bad. Lallana, JRod and Lambert certainly wouldn't have done themselves any favours with Lewington who was there to watch them on Saturday.
  20. Is that obligatory now then, right: Sent from my home built from odds and sods I've found in labs PC with a 1992 AZERTY IBM jelly bag keyboard that's sometimes a bit sticky, how's that.
  21. Anyway there's a special thread for the GSR on the General Sports page.
  22. Aigburth Skate and Aberdeen Angus.....
  23. Don't know why people insist on dropping Lambert from their projected sides, it isn't going to happen, needs to happen though but it won't.
  24. you can nver tell with them, Blanc was about their 54th choice, anyway with the side they have a 4 year old could manage them successfully.
  25. What do Juventus care though, cheap loan, possibly even aided by the Italian Federation, they can alway use him for the peripheral competitions like the Europa League . We have done ourselves a vast disservice by falling for his antics. If we had held our nerve he would have buckled down just for the sake of the WC.
