Well obviously we could in that most things are hypothetically possible (apart from Time Travel and exceeding the Speed of Light of course). Whether we will is something completely different. As I have no recollection whatsoever concerning the accuracy of Adam's predictions I can't really judge on what he states here.

As you say certain scenarios are possible but at the end of the day (if any of this is vaguely correct) you have to admit one of two things. Either we did have plans to sell a player or if you consider Mauricio's statement to be the most binding then he doesn't want to retain Lambert.
-
but Hufton says he doesn't, in fact the whole thing is contradictory. From what Hufton says we had plans to sell him and that it's he who doesn't want to go but that he might consider it if we insist because it's good money anyway. Looking at the various statements you'd have to assume that Mauricio doesn't want him here (if he's eventually sold that is) Then again perhaps Mauricio wants signings and there's no money to do that unless we sell RL.

Once again in England as per usual where the rules are differently applied to everywhere else. Watched the game on Canal yesterday as per usual, commentator said 'that's a red card' the instant that Gaston was scythed down, they just could not believe that Brown got nothing at all for it. Said that the FA needs to implement the rules correctly because as there will be new (and stringent) advice to refs this WC over professional fouls, dangerous tackles, holding and shirt pulling then players evolving in England will have a rude shock in store. same sort of thing was said in the Liverpool game where Bacuna was seen to deliberately turn the ball away with his forearm in his own box and nothing was given, then again as Suarez conned the ref later on in the game justice was served in that case.

No that's Mauricio's statement, the owner's statement says we have no plans to sell any players in the transfer window. The owners statement is incorrectly worded at best because it just doesn't reflect what Mauricio's say at all.

I don't think he's going to Brazil at this moment anyway, far too many strikers are way in front of him just now. I'd say that Lallana is the only Saints player in contention for England at this time and he neeeds not to have too many more games like yesterday either.

Yes and it's very effective at the moment because we have no real change options in CM and won't have until Vic is back. We have Davis and JWP who can be shuffled about but neither of them has the rugged ability of Schneiderlin and Cork. Both played extremely well yesterday but as they seem to need to cover for the FBs late on as well it's a monumental task for them to keep going as they did yesterday for 90 minutes. Then again I thought Lallana and Davis were pretty quiet all game yesterday and didn't help as much as they usually do. -
You'd have to assume that wouldn't you and that any deal is now off, ie having no plans so Rickie has nothing to decide on at all for the immediate future. Otherwise it would be in total contradiction of the statement from the owner on Friday.

so in fact we do have plans to sell a player then....surely that can't be right.

Shaw is not a top class defender as of yet, that's why no-one will give us 30 million £ for him. Those that are often reportedly interest in doing so are looking at real LBs just now, Coentrao from Real and Soaré (who I might just have mentioned would be a great replacement if someone actually did give us silly money for Shaw) from Lille. These lads have been there, done that, played in the CL and are fulll internationals with a shedload of caps behind them but are still young and wouldn't cost half of the amounts people like to bandy about for Shaw.

I thought Sunderland's two subs on the hour changed the game a lot. Gave them new energy just when we were running out of it in places. I see Cork has been voted MOM on this forum but I thought he was fading fast from about 70' onwards. The fact that we had no solution for that on the bench was a bit of a drawback for us because I really don't think JWP is suited to that role at all. Both of our CMs won an awful lot of balls in the air yesterday and were put to rude contribution, we really need a change there at about 70 minutes. -
But then we need to go back to a Cortese statement from a couple of years back. The jist of the affair was that the club wasn't for sale but as dark forces were insistant on spreading it around that it was then he knew people who'd be pleased enough to buy the club. It depends largely on what view you take, as I could well believe that the owner wants to liquidate her asset then it would seem to me that this scenario is now in motion. Saying they really wanted him to stay was just for the soundbite unless they were prepared to comply with his terms...ie not selling the club.

How is Boruc injured ? Sore balls ? Anyway I'd go for something different Davis,Clyne,Fonte,Maya,Shaw (or fox if you must) Cork (unless Vic can play from the start) Schneiderlin Chambers Lallana JRod Osvaldo. I really want to see how Chambers would do in a more advance role, with his speed and control it could be a real revelation.

Anyone noticed how hard to beat Sunderland are becoming ? Think they've lost once in 10 games in all competitions. They weren't very good in the first half but coming back straight away after going 2 down obviously boosted them. Then they made 2 good substitutions and got at us straight away in the second half. Not discontent with the result at all myself, perhaps I'm just easy to please though. -

i really don't think there'll be any money for transfers this window...none whatsoever, not even loan fees. -
he would have scored from there as well, ball on his left foot, just the keeper to beat.
-
Unfortunate and self inflicted, he went for the ball and jarred his leg against the striker's. Probably be OK for the Arsenal game. Gaston's looked like a broken ankle, that's what happens when a reckless thug plants his foot on your standing leg when you're trying to move it forward..
-
so as I said 38 points is enough to stay up, don't know why we're worrying about it anyway. The question should be how many we need to get 8th place.
-
As are many others. Refs just aren't up to the professional "cachoterie" of the players. Thugs like Brown know exactly how to hide their vicious tackles from refs. Only the video will ever stamp them out and we'll never ever get that.
-
38 same as always. Just need to win at home against Cardiff and Norwich and get a draw and we're already there. However being 8th would be good as well.

Wanyama can indeed play centre back, did often enough for Celtic but how he'd do at it in the rarefied atmosphere of the PL who knows. -

Yes but only marginally. The two young boys looked knackered towards 70 minutes and were less efficient. JRod runs his legs off every game and you can't expect him to be as useful after 90 minutes as he is at the start. Above all we need to sort out the problem with Lambert whatever that may be, played with 10 men again today. Pity Gaston got injured so soon, he was buzzing. Last of all I hope the FA look at Brown's assasination attempt and give him 5 or 6 games, he's just a thug, a throwback to another age. Pleased enough with the result. -
no he didn't, touching the ball is nothing if you follow through and plant your foot on the opponents ankle. Red card offence.
