  1. Anyway, with Saints in the PL 5 wins out of 22, with Reading since he's been there 10 out of 33 so that in fact makes 15 out of 55 so that's an absolutely sh*tty record seeing as most of the Reading games are in the Championship and he can't even win many of those. It's only when you start considering the League 1 years with Saints where he was managing a side that didn't even need much managing that the win stats are doped up. A side in League 1 with 5 or 6 players who are amongst the best in the PL now, who can't win with that, I could win with that, so could my late gran.
  2. can only mean Osvaldo I suppose, either that or he's being facetious and suggesting that even forum posters may have a chance of getting a game tomorrow.
  3. yes but only because everyone has to claim their ticket for tomorrow whereas normally 2/3 of the attendees already have their ST and don't need to do anything else. Instead of doling out about 2000 tickets as per usual tomorrow they'll have to give out over 10000 I expect. Stress exceptional on the ticket office.
  4. won't look much worse than finishing mid table with Reading though.
  5. Anyway it's just a hack article because Saints are playing his old club tomorrow. You can pick plenty of holes in it, like where he says " My parents will support me because they always do but they are Burnley supporters" Jay won't even be playing tomorrow unless he comes on as a later sub so the problem won't even arise.
  6. Well if we should lose then it will just go to show that our "academy first" policy isn't working because players who are in the 1st team squad at a PL club will have been beaten by a Championship side. I think we mlight even see such budding stars as Turnbull and Isgrove getting a game.
  7. hopefully it will be Adkins and not someone decent then.
  8. as in the case of Everton you mean, gave some horrendous decisions against them in 2007 and last week he made up for them.
  9. Oh bugger, I was beginning to forget how painful listening to Merrington actually is, I even watch the player highlights wth the sound off, just cannot stand his gratey, whiney, geordie accent.
  10. becase they probably need the money that a cup run would give them. We're going to play an unusual side and they aren't. I see Isgrove at training this morning, think he'll play ? no Boruc on view though, don't like the implications of that. bUnless of course it's o use him getting used to the different type of ball because he won't be playing with one at any time soon.
  11. I think what they'd rather have is the 4 games between the 21st December and the 1st January spaced over a few more days. If PL clubs didn't play in the FA Cup the first weekend pf January one of the 4 games could be placed there, so perhaps something like 21/12 26/12 1/1 and 4/1, still plenty of football but only 4 games in 15 days instead of 5. Other than that you could stop all of these stupid international breaks and space the 38 games over 3 or 4 more week-ends so that there'd only be 3 PL games between the end of December and the 1st of Jan.
  12. because it's something that needs to be sorted out at the age of 6 to 8. If he's always used only his left foot there's no way that that can be changed at pushing 30.
  13. says it was deflected, can't remember if that's right or not. edit: doesn't look like it though.
  14. does it not explain the difficulties which lesser clubs face to sign the best players ?
  15. but of course it has but when you don't have access to the very best players because of the status of your club then you risk spending a lot on not so much. I mean in theory we could have bought say Willan, would he want to sign for us...no he wouldn't so you're limited to good players who aren't sollicited by top clubs. It might be worth noting that Chelsea now have 7 of their players on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, that's 7 players (mostly youngsters I think) that are currently denied to their concurrents. Everton used to do it as well when they were a top club and funded by a Pools family (Vernons ? anyway one funded Everton, the other Liverpool) they just bought players to keep them off the market. Look at De Bruyne, paid a fortune but they don't play him going on loan to Europe, they bought Hazard's brother as well, no place for him in their side either so they loan him out to PSV or something. Chelsea's list is endless, Courtois one of the world's best young keepers and they're making sure that he doesn't play for anyone that can concurrence them..................
  16. didn't we finish 8th in 2003 and get to the cup final though. doubt if we'll do any better than that this season despite massive investment, still massive investment now means absolutely sod all, it's what you spend it on that counts.
  17. Sounds exactly as he was when Spurs scored their 3rd, he doesn't like losing very much methinks. I still think Mauricio is pretty close to the edge of the platform where he actually starts walking on the tightrope if you see what I mean. Everyone thinks he's doing a great job, well most people anyway, but the results just aren't there. If they don't start coming again soon things will change. Still a good win against west Brom should see him edging back towards the ladder.
  18. was it not stated in some player interview or other recently that 8th is now the absolute minimum ? Could be wrong though.
  19. Jos will step up for that then, not that he usually doesn't anyway.
  20. yes it did but even then a half stunned Lovren has to be better than a prime conditioned Jos.
  21. Liverpool did quite good business last summer I think, I mean they finally rooked West Ham for 15 million for Carroll after all. At a net spend of about 22 million they significantly improved their group of players and they could have spent as much as that on just replacing Carragher who retired. I guess PL clubs need to spend money every summer or else they'd end up paying tax on profits because of all the TV money that they receive.
  22. Indeed, for what we'll get for him right now we might as well keep him, it's not as if were overflush with possible replacements is it.
  23. well I mean prospective players of course. Now there was a rumour going round just the other day that even SRL no longer wanted to play with Jos on a particular day. I really do believe that several players in our effective and for whom we have no obvious replacement are holding us back, we need to get shot of them at whatever price it takes. Name me one other PL club who'd have Fox in their squad or Jos either for that matter.
  24. 12 million really isn't all that much money, top players are 20 million and upwards. At 12 million you're in the hit and hope section.
  25. I will be amazed if we get 19K actually, the thought of the team that we're going to put out has turned me right off of this game because Burnley are a good side and we'll put out a bad one.
