but probably after he's taken them to an Europa League place, anyway don't they have Koné hanging about somewhere, think he may be injured. He's a good striker, I'd have him if he was available.
-
he will play because we don't have much else, only the defence will change, the attack will be a permutation of the usual suspects. Can't see Osvaldo being fit or not suspended or whatever so it'll be Rickie,Adam,JRod,Gaston as usual, few minutes from Gallagher perhaps but Burnley are a good side and he'll get nothing from them. I keep asking but can anyone tell me what's happened to Isgrove.

none of our midfielders score very much, what have they got something like 7 goals between them and Lallana has 4 of those. Adam 4,Morgan,Gaston and Steve Davis one each. -

Agreed Morgan should have been subbed yesterday, never, ever seen him looking so out of sorts, watched some of the game again yesterday evening and he was absolutely awful, just didn't look bothered at all, mind you his positioning was strange and we seemed to be trying to play with 3 DMs at one time. The fact that whoscored attributed him a note of 5.4 yesterday just shows how bad he was. I mean it's no great reference scale but to get less than 6 you have to get sent off, give away a couple of own goals or just be totally useless. -

but that doesn't answer the question of why he doesn't take Morgan or Victor off when they get cards does it. Morgan has had 5 yellows this season, don't think he's ever been subbed after any of them. Victor has had 4 yellows, played the full 90 on 3 of them and was subbed 5 minutes from the end against Arsenal. So at best you can say that Maurico's attitude towards Cork is irrational. -
watched the Swansea-City game, City hit everything that was hanging about just outside of the box first time, think they scored at least 2 goals from it and the conditions seemed pretty awful there as well.

It seems completely illogical is his handling of Corky, must be for some reason we don't know about, like putting Reed on the bench every game and never using him (well apart from about 30 seconds against City). -

but he doesn't take Morgan or Victor off when they get cards though does he. Just Cork, does it every time he gets a yellow card, did it at Everton despite having no realistic back up on the bench, dropped JWP and Davis to DM and Everton strolled through us to win. Yesterday Morgan was absolutely awful but Cork got subbed just because he'd got a silly yellow. -
Arsenal are always "in" for any player with a pair of boots at every transfer window, they usually end up buying nothing or signing some 12 year old from Honduras or similar. Agent Bollix or Paper Bollix sums up most of Arsenal's interest.

we might actually get Mariga if we tried, he's Victor's brother and doesn't actually play at Milan, no idea whatsover if he's any good, hasn't played for a fair while now.

On the subject of Lovren, that smack in the mouth he got from José (I think) didn't look particularly pleasant though did it. Obviously had a tooth or some teeth knocked out, did well to play on with it really. It was after what 3 or 4 minutes of the first half, I think if we'd had any viable change solution on the bench we'd have subbed him but as we don't we didn't. Mauricio obviously has no real confidence in either Maya or Jos and it's painful to have to accept that we have 2 CBs and anything that breaks up the partnership is a disaster in waiting. -
An interesting point here. Everton and Newcastle both have pretty efficient loan strikers this season, they're getting goals from them for relatively little initial outlay but what you'd presume are hefty salaries but at the end of the season Lukaku and Remy will probably have cost their respective teams somewhere in the regon of 5 million quid for returns of around 15/18 goals I'd guess. Now we have a 13 million £ outlay on a striker, plus about 3 million in salary who or may or may not provide us with 10 goals, not looking great on that one yet. We do not use the loan market efficiently in the way some teams do.

not Gazza, I want us to win if we can.
-
Exactly Um, none of us can knows what he expects but from the soundbites it would seem like mounting a serious challenge for Europe this season and doing it with what we've got already and what we can find in the academy. He was ruthless with Adkins and if we should say, fall below Hull or Villa I can well see him being ruthless again. Pardew's position above us with a lesser side must be hacking him off. He'll look at Spurs, ruthless sacking and then winning 3 and drawing 1 out of the next 4 will tempt him sorely.

Realistic target placing next season - current squad?
Window Cleaner replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
I think you might find that he thinks that he has made "consistent investment" although far too much of it has been wasted on no hopers and underperformers. The fact that Saints have about 50 million £'s worth of "talent" that does absolutely sod all might be p*ssing him off somewhat. -

could be that, or it just could be the placing of the match as last year they were up to their ears in the Europa League. We didn't look like the same side as on that day though, probably due to injuries and general fatigue. -

The "realistic placing" will be whatever target Cortese has set. I don't think that we're currently in it. -

which is of course why we beat them last year. -
is Osvaldo fit , is he going to be suspended before Saturday next, you just can't say, I like him but he's a waste of money.
-
I just couldn't say, I'm not Nicola Cortese, I don't know the targets set or how he'll have viewed our disastrous run of 1 win in 9 games. I'm hoping he'd be tolerant and understanding about it but I wouldn't wager any significant sum on that. I don't know how he'll have viewed spending 13 million quid on a sick-note, bad tempered player either.
-
Torres didn't get a flukey goal, he showed us that a real striker never gives up, watches the flight of the ball and is ready to pounce on it if it comes back off the keeper, the post or the bar. He was absolutely destroying us down our left all of the first half as well.
-
I don't actually think anyone will give us much money for him, might loan him out though.

held back from every tackle, every crunch moment, there can only be so many reasons for that, either the club have punished him for his suspension and he's proving a point or he's on his way out. If he was injured we'd have subbed him. -

Puncheon wanted to leave on loan, he requested it, he needed to be in South London for his own reasons and we let him go. If we'd have retained him against his wish then we'd probably have got less than nothing out of him. -

not that bad, everything he did was pointless, missed every tackle, got caught on the ball most times and just passed 5 yards each time, mark my words something is going on with him.
