I don't think Italian players or players from Italy in general translate particularly well to the PL as we have seen for ourselves. I mean there must be a reason why there are so few Italian defenders in the PL mustn't there. The game is so totally different in the 2 countries. Look at Mexes, now he's a really average CB but he's a big star hotshot in Italy and to suggest that all these 3 Juventus blokes are all better than Kompany or Koscielny really is a bit silly.

So what this is effectively saying is that Lovren is the best CB in the PL. Far too heavily biased towards Italy in general and Juventus in particular, we've all seen that Italian players aren't all that good in the PL. thus as usual complete bolloaks.

Neither of our reserve keepers controls anything whatsoever, they suffer the game, they do not influence it. Cannot understand just why we've allowed that situation to carry on unchecked since last season, it was disastrous then and still is now. You'd just have to assume that we're clinging on to the idea that Gazzaniga will one day make something of himself and that we haven't been conned again as we were with Forecast and look how that turned out. Needs to be loaned out as do many of our younger players but we don't seem to do that.

well he's been injured for quite a while apparently, it was in the Echo the other day although nobody on this forum seemed to know that. He hasn't been training for weeks now, since about the Sunderland C1C game I think.

Couldn't say but we won't get any money for Gaston in the January window, he obviously wants to return to Italy but they only want loans at this time of year. Look at the Nainggolan deal, 3 million € loan fee now and the 6 million € in the summer if he's good enough for the AS Rome, and this was being talked about as a 20 million £ player only last summer. I read yesterday that Inter have proposed to us a sort of never-never deal for Osvaldo as well, loan fee now and then the rest of the 15 million on credit over a couple of years, can't see us accepting that either..

Situation probably wouldn't arise in the WC, most French,Italian and Spanish refs would have penalised Giroud for the little shove,(he's a known expert at it) it's only UK refs that don't see that sort of thing or consider it as a bit of give and take. Canal's TV expert ref said he'd have blown up for the shove in the chest. English refs let everything go because they believe that it's up to them to apply the rules as they see them and not as the letter of the law. This is why there are so many reffing disputes nowadays, refs don't have any consistency whatsoever.

No real evidence, it's just a speculation thus the use of the word "perhaps". However being forced to use Davis,Gazza, Jos and Fox instead of obtaining correct replacements at the opportune moment, ie last summer, indicates to me that something isn't quite right. None of those players should be anywhere near a PL side so why are they still here and being used. Also why did mauricio recently say that he had all the replacements he needed from the academy when he clearly didn't. I mean that's something that you'd just not say if you had any choice at all in the matter. We have no viable CBs in the academy, if we had we'd have used them by now, we have no replacement LB in the academy either, if we had Fox wouldn't be playing every 3 or 4 games or so.

wrong side to replace Dyer though, hasn't one of their wingers just gone down with a biggish injury? Spanish blokey. I wouldn't mind Dyer though, probably grown up by now. I could well see Dyer getting an England call up soon to replace Walcott.

don't really believe any of it for one minute but if he's out of contract anyway he may really want to try to find a club with genuine CL possibilities. AC Milan will be looking for a new coach in the summer I think, their man is retiring at the end of the season. Just cannot help thinking that our recent results due to having to use crap players may have been a severe disappointment to Mauricio, perhaps he thinks the clubs "youth first policy" is holding him back, I certainly do..

Maybe they noticed that Poch is being forced to play crap players because he doesn't have anything better available, I mean I'd probably jack it in if I had to play Fox,Jos,Gazza or Davis on a regular basis, professional pride and real desire to progress cannot be put aside too easily.
