  1. Ah no, Imperial for me, my boy went to Polytechinque though, currently in Japan doctoring in AI.
  2. Strange how the word Polytechnique or Polytechnic if you like changes. Polytechnique (also known as X) is France's finest school, a sort of ancient military academy which takes only the brightest and best of the brightest and best, a sort of CalTech or MIT where they pay you to go, whereas in the UK I assume it's a sort of remedial affair for those who can't even make a scruffy tech uni.
  3. as always skintness is relative in football. In Everton's case I presume money isn't just and accounting notion as it is at clubs like West Ham and Skate.
  4. but Puncheon wanted to go there, I guess it's his spiritual home or something, we didn't force him as far as I know. If he's getting games and it suits him then why ever not.
  5. Everton have never been really popular amongst the general populace, they once had a bad reputation for all sorts of things, buying up players so that other teams couldn't get them, there were rumours (and I'm talking a long time back here) that Catholics would never get a game there (don't know how true that was, never researched it) and then there was the coloured players thing which ended with the signing of Daniel Amokachi in the mid 90s ending a spell of about 20 years without one. now whether that was coincidence or by design I couldn't say..
  6. So then showdown day for the Eagles and Cowboys. Hope the Eagles win and make the play-offs with the 10 and 6 season that I predicted but wouldn't be at all surprised if it all goes corkscrew and we end up at 9 and 7 and miss out because of our divisional record.
  7. And what is more they'd be sent off time and time again and eventualy banned permanently. Football today is as it is, if Chelsea and Man U could win the CL with hackers from Tooting Bec and Oldham they would but they can't so they don't.
  8. all 4 teams who have the festive 2 away games play on Sunday afternoon. So I guess it's about equality of conditions concerning travelling etc.
  9. Well I kinda think i just did. Queiroz was Fergie's assistant as well, don't think his first managerial appointment worked out all that well either. Thing is with Fergie you're an assistant and he's the manager, you make the tea and take out the trash I expect, you don't manage the team.
  10. depends why he isn't playing for Fulham, injured or suspended perhaps because if he can't get in in front of Stockdale then that's not a very good reference.
  11. evidently not, if they were of any use to man or beast they'd not be losing 6-0 to Hull. Pointless sacking Jol and then appointing a complete non-entity as manager or caretaker manager, shows a complete incomprehension of football. Being a good manager in Holland means nothing on the global scale, as we found out the hard way.
  12. it still is, on their forum where it belongs.
  13. I'm talking about a 3-1 home defeat on the evening of the 13th april 2012. I was furious because we gifted them the win, I understand Cortese was furax as well.
  14. Been watching Norwich-Utd, Norwich looking very enterprising but just can't put any of the chances they're creating away and I wouldn't be surprised if Utd don't hit them on the break in the 2nd half and win 1-0, or get an iffy penalty.
  15. no Hammond gave the ball away for the goal i'm thinking about and Davis missed a cross he should have cut out. Images implanted in my brain forever.
  16. I think Morrison was suspended and they've let Petric go, that's their fault, nothing to do with an injury crisis. Nolan getting sent off and suspended for 3 games certainly didn't help them either. That's his problem, he never goes a season without at least one straight red, that means he misses important games just because he can't control his emotions. 5 yellows, you can accept because 19 games not to get them is difficult to handle in some positions and most teams get at couple of suspensions, evens out, but a straight red every season is just a sign of wanton behaviour that's never corrected.
  17. Plus none of us ever have the delusion to think that anything posted on this forum (or any other for that matter) will ensure that our favourites will win any match. I'm sure half of the respondants didn't actually read the OP. I mean we didn't need to read the responses, most of us aren't interested in a combined Everton/Saints team, he should just have invited them onto his own forum to post whatever it was that they had to say. We have our own match threads.
  18. well 2 should be in theory mid-table teams bludgeoning each other and picking up shedloads of yellow cards can only help other poor teams to survive. They'll probably get a point each and that won't do either of them much good.
  19. when they had a defence perhaps. Since Reid has been out they must be conceding about 3 a game.
  20. depends where that is in the calendar with reference to City's CL games. The CL will be a priority for city this season as will winning the title again, they may sacrifice the C1C if the fixtures don't fall well.
  21. and yet seemingly threatened with relegation which may or may not confirm itself. Unless you have a 300 million quid squad it's cup or risk non survival but not both.
  22. Maynard I think you mean, don't think we were ever after him, some just thought we should be that's all. Anyway Sam's system is destructive to strikers so he needs a lot of them, especially as most of them aren't very good.
  23. West Ham 1 up already, can't understand what West Brom's side is all about. Lugano is garbage and last season Yacob and Mulumbu was one of the League's nec plus ultra pairings along with Cork and Schneiderlin, why break it up and have one of them on the bench. Then there's the illusion caused by Lukaku, wherever he goes instantly looks a better side than they probably are.
  24. why not then? I mean I don't know anything about the lady in question but you'd be surprised at the number of women who've been "prostitutes" in some way or other. Whether you'd sh@g them or not doesn't enter into the question, as long as someone would being ugly or fat or whatever isn't necessarily preclusive. Plenty of blokes do ugly women, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...allegedly and then there are those who just don't care; Now I remember a good friend of mine from way back, perhaps others will remember this story, he's well enough known in Hampshire football circles. Anyway he was pretty discerning in respect to women as a rule but once he got steamed up in Fridays and elected for a real scrubber, fat, ugly you name it she was it. Now he went off with her and we didn't see him for a couple of days, anyway on the bus down the Dell next match day there he was, telling all of the assembled public on the upper tier of the Number 14 what a great sh@g she was.
  25. Yes, we are today's democratically elected hatchet men, It's my turn to be one of the forum nice guys next Wednesday.
