Arsenal vs SOUTHAMPTON Build up thread
Window Cleaner replied to Saint Garrett's topic in The Saints
not Koscielny anyway, he got sent off last Friday for a free for all wrestling challenge on the Ukrainien CF. Sagna won't start, neither will Giroud so that leaves err sort of none'ish Arsenal players in the French side. -

Giroud isn't starting, it will be DD's pet binky Benzema. DD's mate Zizou has obvious been shouting at him as neither Madrid player started last friday but they'll both start tonight even if Varane is far too green for the occasion and has a dodgy knee, no doubt will be having cortisone injections. -
Well not to put too fine a point on it but in my opinion DD would like to be coach of a New Zealand team.

WC goes to work ya know. A regular job, not poncing about all day with golfers and other hobbledehoys. So what can I do for you ?
-
Indeed, if you've run 1h40 for a half you could be looking at around 3h35 for a clean run marathon although you'll not get that at London. You can run a 3hr marathon off 50 miles a week if the training is right.

Depends on the outlook of the new manager really, depends if he watches a lot of English football or not I'd suppose, depends on who influences his choices, his immediate entourage etc. Deschamps puts a lot of faith in big clubs and CL experience, if you don't have any you'll probably get totally ignored by him. His current 23 Tottenham 1 Marseille 3 Juventus 1 Monaco (but ex Barcelona)1 Paris SG 1 Newcastle 4 Lille 1 Arsenal 3 Manchester City 2 Manchester Utd 1 Real Madrid 2 Lyon 1 Liverpool 1 Bastia 1 (3rd goalkeeper) So the real oddity is the 4 Newcastle players (all with CL experience) but only Remy started last Friday and as we know he an ex Marseillais. No player in the current 23 is without CL games in the past. A new manager would probably mean a total clear out.

The preparation "classic" for a decent marathon is a 20 miler about 5 weeks before the big event. That's why there are so many of them just before the London. You can try to do it by halves though, the best formula being a doublet at 7 weeks and then 4 weeks. You'll find all this stuff in your usual Bruce Tulloh training plans, don't know if you still get them in Runners World though, should be still available on line somwhere or other . The fact that you're "tempo running" already which is a Tullohsian term tells me you might already have one though. Always used Tulloh plans myself although I know him slightly, he was coaching Jeremy Barton (and Nerukar) at Oxford and Jem's an aquaintance of mine.

Yes a lot of it, they, like us, don't understand why he's not been called up. Mind you we don't have Stars,Suns and Mirrors to help our national team manager with his choices. However it's not just non-selection that's incomprehensible, he's not even on their radar. No-one calls him from the DTN at the FFF, no-one watches his games, he's just a forgotten man as far as the FFF is concerned.

Problem is DD has made a right old foxxing mess because his is not up to the job and just calls up the same old players time and time again. I don't doubt he also gets a far old bit of interference from people who should have nothing to do with the choice of players. It is said that a players agent (probably his as well) exerts an undue influence over his choices.

If they go out tomorrow night, they're well capable of winning by at least 2 goals and at least forcing extra time. Trouble is will they fancy it, they all say they do but then they said that last week as well. I am absolutely certain that a truly competent manager could still get them through but with DD's just give it to Francky instructions its so easy to counter.

It really depends on just how desperate you are to go, I'd think you could find a ticket from an agency but it's going to cost you upwards of 150£. There's an agency that sells Arse tickets to French tourists and I'm told that they have a decent number still available for Saturday. -
That's not normal really, you need to get it checked out before you run again..
-
No, I've not much time for him, he's where he wanted to be, let him stay there.
-
I see that Sturridge is out of tomorrow night's game as likely as not, does that increase the chances of all of our lads getting a game again ?
-
nah they'll buy a foreigner, probably someone from Real Madrid. Who was the last home produced talent that Chelsea bought ? Having said that they must be dangerously close to not having enough home produced players in their squad once Cole,Lampard,Terry etc hang up their boots. I've even heard a name doing the rounds Ricardo Rodriguez who oddly enough and despite his name (which is why I was thnking Real Madrid) plays for Wolfsburg. He'll cost them far less than Luke Shaw.

I think he's saying that 2 of our most venerable posters fox cats but that his spelling isn't too sharp.

A good run then, told you you'd be OK. So much energy is burnt up with the crap mass start conditions at Great Runs and the like that you can usually perform way in advance of what you'd expect based on them at "smaller" events.

As it stands, do we have a better team than ENGLAND?
Window Cleaner replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
Normal really, MPo was a top player who played in Europe. Bielsa was pretty average as a player, few games for Newells and then minor S.Am leagues. Thus MPo has a wealth of playing experience to transform Bielsa's systems into his own variants. -
Samba was sold for nigh on as much as he cost, you need to look at Hughes signings to understand the case. Harry has had a good old clear-out and QPR are far better for it.

The Top Ten Conspiracy Theories - If You Believed One Of Them
Window Cleaner replied to Gemmel's topic in The Lounge
Occasionally words must serve to veil the facts. But let this happen in such a way that no one become aware of it; or, if it should be noticed, excuses must be at hand to be produced immediately. from the 16th century guru that still guides most of them, what can you expect. -
Britton, Cleverly....there's a lot of strange selection ideas here. Neither of them are good enough to dispute a World Cup finals campaign. Honestly and I know this won't go down well I'd take Delph above either of those and that's saying something.
-
Looks as if we're over half-way there then, last night's game was crying our for players like Morgan and Flamini, technical ability coupled with a smidgeon of EPL nastiness to give the Ukrainians a bit of their own medicine. The French were crap, unsurprising because it was all DDs binkies.
