  1. I'm a bit of a revisionist on the "all about Chaplow" line. Don't think he'd have made much difference. For some reason or other we couldn't score from shedloads of chances and the opposition could, from a one off break more often than not.I think NA got the midfield structure wrong by insisting on Morgan and Hammond being the forward elements and Cork being the hindmost. Then we had the CB troubles, either Jose or Jos but never the 2 at the same time ,José is a vital attack building platform but without Jos he doesn't seem to have the liberty to do that. The strike force went mute as well and the blip gained ground.
  2. lallana came to the club in 2000, aged about 12..so the OS have have made another terminalogical inexactitude.
  3. wouldn't that be Lallana? Surely he was at the club before Bart, even if he wasn't in first team contention.
  4. Probably not anywhere near good enough for us anyway. Don't know why we're even said to be interested, don't need any more wingers and we have our own young players to fit it.
  5. Less seriously fortunate than Leeds not being able to shoot straight though. KD and the defence did a great job but Leeds helped them with their general inefficacity. Reminds me of us away at Walsall last season.Any other day we'd have scored 10.
  6. Not at all sure that there's much evidence on LSD and general memory loss. IIRC LSD provokes, amongst other things, a serotonenergic/dopaminenergic interaction which is principally responsable for it's hallucinogenic action.Memory loss is often based on low serotonine levels but whether that can be put down to LSD use at all is unknown to me, never heard it though. There are plenty of little old ladies (and gents) who've never dropped a tab in their existence who can't remember very much. Did read somewhere though that most flashbacks,if any, come from your first trip but I can't remember the scientific evidence or reasoning for that. Do people still "do" acid or is it all MDMA nowadays? Must look up the relative merits and demerits some day.
  7. With whom? Swedish U21 international will get a few offer though,Celik is that his name?
  8. What like Brian Clough and Peter Taylor going round to Dave Mackay's house on a Sunday morning to sound him out about signing for Derby, even if Sunday morning tapping up was banned.
  9. Is Pompey not what Portsmouth is traditionally called. Can't remember the place ever having any other name than Pompey. When I was a kid you went east to Pompey and north east'ish to "The Smoke".On rare home visits from Uni my Grandad always asked about life in "The Smoke" in general and the Union Jack Club in particular, used to make stuff up about the Union Jack though because I never actually went there, think it was across from Waterloo though.
  10. but surely if you don't report it to the police and get the bit of paper then the insurance company won't pay? Happened to me when I was on a deplacement somewhere in the Midlands, hotel secure car park, the old C4 trashed a bit, window smashed for no reason etc etc. Reported it to the OB and claimed on the insurance. A good few months later got a court paper saying that XXX and YYY had been found guilty of smashing up my car(and a lot of others) and that they would be paying me about £1000 over time, never ever saw a penny of it now that I come to think on it.
  11. 'Tis true, spying isn't what it used to be now that you have to be politically correct about it and not just kill the opposition like Jack Bauer would.
  12. The only interesting thing from this info would be the identity of "one of their other players",think we knew about the Ipswich bid for Lambert, just as we knew what the outcome would be.
  13. He probably believes that we're just Dagenham and Redbridge with Davis,Richardson,Fonte,Jos,Fox,Morgan,Cork,Chaplow, Lallana,Lee,Sharp,Puncheon and Lambert though.
  14. well there's me, still with the wife after 26 years,no particular problems to report. Then again we got married when I was 32 and she was 30.I guess we'd both knocked about a fair bit before and didn't have any particular illusions or expectations.Plus at that age you've sometimes got some decent salaries and a bit put aside, even if you haven't been particulary thrifty or wise with money.Having sufficient income and resources has allowed us to put the kids through their studies with no loans or any particular friction, also I believe i've read somewhere that money problems destroy many more marriages than you'd think.
  15. I'd wager that our salary mass for players and coaches was far higher than Pompey's once we'd signed Jos and Fox and might have been at least equivalent even before then. A lot of lads are rumoured to make a lot of money at SMS, especially with the start to the season that we had, the old win bonuses must have been a weighty sum.
  16. Elias? Jonah would be a better name......where is the old bugger these days
  17. From memory a threesome is when all 3 are involved all of the time, mind you I haven't had one since 1985 so perhaps the rules have changed. 2 Belgian women in Majorca in case you're wondering,in the days when I was still a very naughty boy.
  18. Didn't you already have an 'epiphany" when you realised that a degree in Anthropology was old hat and that a HND in local radio was exactly what was needed, or is that another Mikey?
  19. What can you expect, the UK is a 3rd world country.
  20. But at the moment I don't think that the young players (apart from the 1st team regulars) are an option. I noticed that only the senior players are involved with the 1st team training sessions nowadays.
  21. no point in counting on Skates. They're concentrating on winning the All European Inter Cities Administration Cup.
  22. Cup Final 1976, Man U hammered us really but they couldn't score and we could. Yesterday's win just shows the importance of going in front really. As long as you're ahead you control your destiny, even though it may not look that way at the time.
  23. As we saw with even Spurs today, without Parker and Bale they were pretty dire.
  24. Isn't that twice we've beaten Leeds on Sky this season?
  25. Hah, great result, may be the one that sees us promoted
