  1. But by a parallel argument you could surmise that West Ham are only second because of their away form. It's a competitve league, most of the 24 teams in it have good players, some have really good players, in fact exceptional players, we stumbled across one of them yesterday afternoon.
  2. probably neither.
  3. Penalty ref ???? But no he's giving a free kick to Donny by the looks of it.Unless of course they're in our box and not the otherway round.
  4. SMS?? well I dopubt that Totton would have been allowed to use it for free even if they had asked. If it costs £1 to park your car just think how much they would ask to use the pitch and the stands. The cost involved would probably mean that Totton wouldn't make any more out of it.
  5. Yes I would agree with that certainly, i think I made some fairly hefty comments about the depth of the strike force when we sent out such a poor side against Palarse. Now I'm not writing Barnard off but let's be honest against a CB of the quality of Beye he's going to get absolutely sod all, Beye eats journeymen like him up for elevenses, cos Beye well he's a bloody good player, better than any of our CBs as I've said elsewhere. Guly is dangerous but he seems to struggle with the offside trap and everybody knows what I think about De Ridder. So yes we've nothing in reserve and nothing coming through the ranks, don't think that's Nigel's fault though, he's been loyal to Barney and duped into having De Ridder. If only we had something to fall back on in the nebulous 'development squad' because there all I see is players who are nearly as old as some of the lads in the first eleven who are just a few months older and who have 100+ first team games on the counter. But as Pilchards says elsewhere I think NC is a bit of a Scrooge on the transfer fee and wage bill front,we've wasted money that should have gone to boosting our strike force and the idea of 10 hom grown players isn't materialising, neither is it likely to. Look at our side yesterday, one of the famous academies in football and yet yesterday we had 10 bought in players out of 11.
  6. Doubt if Dickson and Puncheon actually cost us very much actually, not compared to the potential cost of Maynard anyway. I don't doubt that we have some exceptionally highly paid players though, question is whether that cost is justified if you need to bring in yet more highly paid players to supplement them.
  7. I don't doubt that wins at home against teams like Hull knock the stuffing out of us a bit, the players aren't robots.Idem West Ham, great win at Boro but they seem to have been running on empty in the second half yesterday as well. You have to face the fact that with squads of 20 or so realistic Championship players (cos I don't count the Dicksons and Fortes) for a 46 game season with those feck stupid international breaks compacting those games into a 32 week or so period teams are going to have peaks and troughs. You win a toughie, you lose an easy one simply because you've lost players through injury and the others are sh*gged out.Expect to see us revived after a whole week's break, I hope the management give them a bit of time off this week. Now when rivals start bringing in Prem loans who've played about zero games this season so far against our players who have 20+ on the counter the effect is easily seen.
  8. And we should have left it that way at least until 60 odd minutes or so,I think a lot of fans are deluding themselves about De Ridder, I've the advantage of having seen him in both Belgian and Dutch football and he just ain't that good. He rushes around a lot but against decent defenders, well I don't think he'll even last the season as a first team contender. You all need to stop making this player some sort of demi-god just because he's a bit of a wag on the old social networks.
  9. You only get 3 of those a season because the defenders don't let you get any more than that. Half the "goals" scored on the trraining ground would be goals of the century but when defenders get into the mix, well not so much. A lot never give the defence enough credit when a hot shot striker has an off day, happened to Saints yesterday.
  10. doesn't look that way, probably going to take a real hiding. Shows the difference between league and non-league football.
  11. Perhaps Nigel needs to give Big Sam a call, they can put their heads together and sort out our away form and West Ham's home form, league will become a two horse race then.
  12. If he could rally the message board fans while he's at it that would be handy.Jeez this board is depressing today,as it was yesterday evening. Something isn't right to be sure but I don't think many are giving Doncaster enough credit for obtaining a couple of very decent players on loan and then knowing how to exploit their capacities to the maximum. When you have Beye,Fortune and Sharp in your side you always stand a chance. Agree about the TMT though, needs to knock that off sharpish,we had a game plan,he should have let it run through to at least 65 minutes before turning everything ass over tit.
  13. As you say we're still top in what is evidently a very difficult league and (without checking) it would seem to me that we've lost the least matches, perhaps jointly with West Ham.Knowing Habib Beye and Marc-Antoine Fortune as I do, I'd say they are probably the reason why we got nothing yesterday. I wish we had Beye cos to my view he's better than any of our current centre-backs.May be he's just too costly for us because if I was a manager in the Championship and Beye was known to be available for loan I'd be at the front of the queue with my cheque-book at the ready.
  14. As it says on the label, I always thought that he was a fairly offensive player but we seem to be hell bent on using him as the deepest of the 3 and then subbing him at half-time. What's that all about then.Mind you with 1 for Deano,1 for Morgan and 0 for Cork we're not exactly getting many goals out of our midfield at all.
  15. 90£ a week apparently.Only covers time spent at the training ground. Who would have thought that.
  16. I hope there isn't a "Brentford" to come though.
  17. On this point, anyone have any idea why we aren't using Cork as the foremost of the 3,surely he's not got a bad track record for goals scored at Burnley and perhaps Watford as well. Always seems to be too far back.
  18. What Chamberlain money?? Don't doubt that most of it has already been spent.Fox,Jos,Cork and De Ridder won't have been give aways not to mention what we'd already spent last season.150K here, 300K there...10 million is quickly blown, if we indeed got as much as that. It's the same old same old with us and money, we bought De Ridder to replace Chamberlain...turned out well that then.
  19. Good job you don't support West Ham...they lost at home.
  20. [quote=Lighthouse;1202263 If we're going to judge De Ridder on games he has started, lets at least judge him on games when the whole teams wasn't complete sh*t, i.e. Donny and Palace. Ah,but I have the advantage of having seen him before he turned up in the SO postcode. He's a 20 minute player, always has been.
  21. Lallana isn't producing anything, hasn't since he's been back, good nod in on TUesday but that's not much from 4 or 5 games.
  22. But we'll play Hammond...we always do, the rest are just moved around to accomodate him. De Ridder??? don't ever want to see him with a starting berth again.A 20 minute player at this level. What did he actually do in the first half?? anyone know.He was there to create and get goalside, same as Lallana but no so Guly and Morgan had to do it for them. We aren't going to solve this problem until we get something from our 2 ATTACKING MIDFIELDERS Lallana and in today's case De Ridder.
  23. except that it's Cork who starts in the defensive role...
  24. What do you expect, a second successive away defeat against a poor'ish side (who did have some excellent individuals on loan mind you).No doubt Nigel has problems because some of his key players just aren't performing.
  25. this is problem numèro uno. He's there to create, he doesn't so the others have to do that as well. Needs dropping, trouble is we don't have anyone else.
